Defiled Embrace is a one-man-project formed in Israel in 2021 by local musician Matan Kedar. Some songs were originally written for another projects, but eventually they all came together under the name Defiled Embrace.

During 2021, Matan decided to record the songs using session musicians he works with in other bands, and the debut album “Whispers Of The Forest” was recorded during 2021-2022.

On July 2022, Defiled Embrace singed a deal with Metal Scrap Records Inc. Three videos were shot for three Singles of the forthcoming release: “In Her Sullen Reflection”, “Autumn” and “Whispers Of The Forest”. September 9 became as an official release date of “Whispers Of The Forest” album through Another Side Records, a division of Metal Scrap Records Inc.

Currently, the project is in a process of becoming a full band, and a second album is already composed and about to be recorded.

Israeli technical death metal sensations Prey For Nothing release 'The Sword Devours' lyric video

23/8/2022

Picture

Israeli technical death metal heroes Prey For Nothing return with their most conceptual and creative album yet: "Kivshan", due for re-release on September 9th, 2022 via Wormholedeath.

'The Sword Devours' is taken from Kivshan - Furnace in Hebrew - and it is one of our most ambitious songs yet, both musically, lyrically, and thematically. We hope you'll enjoy it!"

'The Sword Devours' is a song depicting the history of the Hebrew and Jewish people, not in the warm light of tradition but in the echoes of war and death. We, the Jewish people, like to think of ourselves as 'People of the holy book', who abhor violence and promote peace since the days of Jacob and Josef - but this isn't the entire picture. Our true history is filled with warfare and bloodshed, from ancient times to modern ones.

The biblical phrase, "Shall the Sword Devours Forever?" (Samuel 2, 2:26) is spoken by Abner before he was executed for treason against the house of King David. And it rings till this day. We cannot claim to strive for peace with implements of war. If we won't stop the endless cycle of violence - no one will. And this is the lesson we, one of the oldest people in the world, can easily say we take many pains to learn for all nations out there. War is never the answer. Violence is never the answer. War will not bring peace. Don't let those swords devour us all.

Line up:

  • Yotam Defiler Avni - Vocals
  • Dima Kogan - Guitars
  • Iftah Levy - Drums, Bass, backing Vocals
  • Michiel Rutten - Guitars
  • Anatoli Kashenka - Bass

Israeli symphonic metallers StormbounD announce new album “December” for August 5th release

2/7/2022

Picture

Israeli symphonic metallers StormbounD are set to release their new album “December” on August 5th 2022, and ahead of this have recently a video for new single ‘Flying High’.

When asked about the theme behind the song, they stated:- "'Flying High' is an optimistic love song, where the protagonist is trying to help a loved one overcome her suffering caused by a mental illness."

The band was formed in 2018 in Tel-Aviv by bassist Pavel Kleiman and guitarist and vocalist Ofer Friedman. Next to join were Ofer's wife Shani Friedman on guitar, Yuval Partush on drums, Rotem Sadia on the keyboard, and Yael Horwitz as lead singer. All members of the band are well-established professional musicians. The outfit were predominantly influenced by symphonic metal, but an attentive listener will be able to pick up elements from power, prog and death metal, and a bit of rock. They are recommended listening for fans of Nightwish, Evanescence, and Epica.

Shortly after its formation the group began writing and performing and made a unique mark in the local heavy music scene. During the last year, the band took part in all major metal events and festivals in Israel.

Channelling the vibes of bands such as Delain and Amaranthe with powerful, clean vocals from frontwoman Yael Horwitz, alongside the harsher lyrics sang by vocalist / guitarist Ofer Friedman who is backed up by a formidable, symphonic sound driven by bassist Pavel Kleiman, keyboardist Rotem Sadia, drummer Yuval Partush and guitarist Shani Friedman.

6. Shadows - 4:21
7. Flying High - 4:55
8. Fragments - 6:24
9. Child's Play - 9:02

They are amped to be releasing their debut album this summer, and so far have already released two singles, the first being “Altar of Innocence”, but now are drawing attention to the latest, “Desert’s Roar” complete with a music video. They share their thoughts on this release:

“The lyrics on the album tell some interesting stories, some more personal and some global, convey some harsh messages and themes, and deliver a wide array of emotions. We did our best to bring all of that into a cohesive musical surrounding within the realm of metal. “Desert’s Roar” is a cry for freedom from an inner struggle taking place inside the mind of a person feeling controlled and overpowered.”

The entirety of the album “December” is a journey that goes from gloomy and despondent to kickass, high, and victorious. StormbounD weaves an immersive and entertaining tale that will take the listeners into desperate depths before catapulting them into the open sky.

Israeli thrashers Sinnery will be embarking on their first performance at Rockstadt Extreme Fest in Romania on Friday, August 5th at 3 pm local time on the Brasov Stage, sharing that day's lineup with Lamb of God, Overkill, UADA, Kataklysm, Necrophobic, In Mourning and more.

"We are beyond excited to get to play Rockstadt Extreme Fest this year! It'll be absolutely incredible to perform on the stage with so many legends on the same bill. This will be our first show in Romania and we can't wait to see you all there!." adds the band.

Full details on the festival and its lineup from August 3rd to 7th can be found at https://www.rockstadtextremefest.com.

7. Hanged From The Sun (5:39)
8. Bleak (4:42)
9. Here Below (4:39)
10. Holes (06:08)

Sinnery will be unleashing their much anticipated new record “Black Bile”, six years after their debut. In the time since then, they have melted more influences into their sound, and morphed from a predominantly thrash sound to something darker, and heavier. Swept up with melodic breaks amidst the gutturals, they wrap their music in modern layers. The album contains ten tracks; recently they shared the first single, “The Burning” with a new music video, which can be seen and heard at https://youtu.be/1U6_y-SDR7M

Single digital pre-save - http://burning.sinneryband.com

“The Burning'' is probably the most popular song with the fans even before it comes out, the fans chant “God bless the human race” on every show so it was a no-brainer picking it out to be the first single off of the album. It is an upbeat thrash song with many heavy and groovy moments. It was perfect for the beginning of the album, to start with a bang, with no introductions or orchestral intros just straight-up metal from the get-go. Lyrically the song’s full name was The Burning of Mt. Sinai and so it’s easy to know this song is an anti-religious song, coming from Israel, religion is a big part of the atmosphere where we grew up, and we are not very fond of those establishments that are more about power and money than the lessons in those books they sell.” adds the band.

Coming at the listener fast and hard is the name of the game for Sinnery. They infuse their music with real true emotions and messages, nothing about it is made up, it’s all very personal and they really dug into the deepest, darkest parts of themselves to write this album. They anticipate that it’ll be received well and expect that listeners will find that sense of realness in it amidst relentless riffs and catchy melodies.

“Black Bile” is fast and full of energy, making it the perfect record to spin when getting amped up. Whether it's for driving fast, headbanging, or hitting the gym, this is a wickedly fun album to listen to.

Sinnery is recommended listening for fans of Gojira, Testament, and The Haunted.
“Black Bile” will be released on September 16, 2022 via Exitus Stratagem Records.

Israeli groove metallers Matricide unveil their new single and video 'Walk Into The Flames'

16/4/2022

Picture

Israel's Matricide drops their new single 'Walk Into The Flames', the first 2022 release for the Tel-Aviv groove metal quartet. The band's previous cover single was released and distributed by Universal Music.

“Going for a unique and fresh type of sound, the band sets off to explore new grounds, throwing some interesting elements into the mix. The idea was to send the listener into a new kind of journey; something heavy and groovy, but at the same time a spiritual, thought-provoking listening experience,” explains guitarist Auria Sapir. “The title of our new single fits perfectly, it’s about walking into the unknown, looking for a way out of our comfort zone, both in music and in life as a whole.”

The single is taken from the band’s upcoming second full-length album, a follow-up to their highly acclaimed “When Random Turns to Fate”. It sounds just how the band described it: 'heavy and progressive, with powerful melodic hooks.'

2022 marks a new era for Matricide - as they continue marching forward, establishing themselves as a powerful heavy quartet.

Israeli progressive metallers Subterranean Masquerade announce new album

2/3/2021

Israeli progressive metal outfit Subterranean Masquerade this week unveils the details for their anxiously awaited new album, Mountain Fever. The band‘s fourth LP, and sixth overall release, marks the band‘s first record to see release through their new label home, Sensory Records, who this week unveils the album‘s cover art, track listing, and more.

Subterranean Masquerade, which until recently was considered a cult studio project for fine taste followers, has transformed over the last two years into an exciting, colorful live act, mixing the traditions of heavy metal together with the aesthetics of world music performance, spiritual punk, and pure rock. Praised by music journalists all over Europe and beyond, the band has taken over the stages, showcasing a distinctly audacious execution of their complex songwriting while maintaining an almost magical grip on their audience, reviewed as rave parties for metalheads.

Led by guitarist Tomer Pink, Subterranean Masquerade was previously fronted by Green Carnation vocalist Kjetle Nordhus and Novembers Doom‘s Paul Khur. Having officially revamped the line-up in 2018, the band now features a very tight knit, fully group of musicians hand-picked from the upper echelons of Israel‘s prog scene. Mountain Fever is the band‘s first album to be created by this expansive seven-member line-up.

Boasting ten new songs which encompass nearly fifty-five minutes of material, Mountain Fever sees Subterranean Masquerade continuing to push the balance between pioneering experimentalism to their own take on modern pop culture and its manifestation in the Middle East. Revealing an album composed of African and Balkan brass sections, Arabic violins, extended vocal techniques, and several special guest appearances, the band explores radio friendly hooks that emerge out of heavy riffs and polychromatic arrangements.

The record features several notable guest contributions, including drums from Matan Shmuely (Orphaned Land), bouzouki and lead guitars on "Mångata" by Idan Amsalem (Orphaned Land), and vocals on "Somewhere I Sadly Belong" by Melechesh Ashmedai (Melechesh) and Jackie Hole (The Super Things).

Subterranean Masquerade recorded Mountain Fever Golan Heights, Israel, the album engineered by David Castillo. The record was sent to Fascination Street in Örebro, Sweden (Leprous, Katatonia, Opeth) where it was Mixed by Jens Bogren and mastered by Tony Lindgren and completed with artwork and layout by Costin Chioreanu of Twilight 13 Media.

See the official video for Mountain Fever‘s lead single “Ascend” HERE: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fGX8b3Fz7b4 and find the song on all digital platforms now.

Lasers Edge division Sensory Records will release Mountain Fever worldwide on May 14th across all digital platforms, on CD, and pressed on vinyl as a double LP cut at 45RPM. Watch for pre-orders to post alongside new audio previews, official videos, and more to be issued over the weeks ahead.

Israeli progressive metallers Scardust release 'Mist' music video

18/1/2021

Picture

Scardust expands upon their new album's concept in the music video for 'Mist'. Following an earlier peek behind the scenes at the making of their latest record “Strangers”, Israel's Scardust provides their fans with another glimpse behind the curtain via their latest clip, “Mist”. The video and song, which tell a complementary story to their recently released clip for “Break The Ice”, can be viewed on YouTube here: https://youtu.be/Ad5QYwZ-_Ts

Vocalist Noa Gruman explains:

“'Mist' is the closing song of 'Strangers' and the parallel to 'Break The Ice’, which opens the album. Now the protagonist has been through experiences that shaped her to become more confident in a way that is less dependent on others. Every relationship we have has a potential of experiences and memories that may or may not happen if the relationship continues. Even after many years, some sides of those we know best are still unfamiliar to us, so what might happen if we go and part ways?”

In other exciting news, Gruman was recently announced as a lead vocalist on Therion's new record, “Leviathan” (Nuclear Blast). This is just the latest in a list of impressive recent guest vocal appearances, which also include Amorphis' 2018 record “Queen of Time”, Orphaned Land's 2018 album “Unsung Prophets and Dead Messiahs” and Ayreon’s recently released “Transitus”.

“Strangers” – which can be streamed on all major digital platforms or purchased on CD and limited-edition gray smoke vinyl at https://smarturl.com/scardust2020 – is a unique concept album built of complementary song pairs working from the outside in. Several recently released music videos, which can be seen at www.youtube.com/Scardust, further demonstrate the degree to which different tracks from the album are thematically connected.

Mastered by Jens Bogren (Opeth, Devin Townsend, Arch Enemy), “Strangers” was written and composed jointly by Gruman and composer Orr Didi, who also collaborated with Scardust on their full-length debut “Sands Of Time” and their 2015 EP “Shadow”. The album features guest appearances by acclaimed German folk musician Patty Gurdy, the Hellscore choir (Orphaned Land, Amorphis, Ayreon) and England’s prestigious Westbrook Hay Prep School Chamber Choir.

In addition, the band hosts the annual “Scarfest” event in their home country, where they’ve also appeared alongside the likes of Therion, Epica and Symphony X.
