Tengger Cavalry frontman Nature G opens up about mental health in new interview

Global Music Award-winning nomadic folk metal group Tengger Cavalry - created and led by frontman and creator Nature G - are one of the most unique and innovative acts in modern music. To date, the band has earned international praise and attention from the likes of Billboard, CNN, The Huffington Post, The Wall Street Journal and countless others.

As an artist who came to America with the sole purpose of cultivating his art and who ultimately found rapid success in the metal underground, Nature was blind-sided by a contractual dispute in 2017, that in his eyes, put all of his hard work to survive as an artist trying to "make it" in a new country in jeopardy. Nature G recently admitted publicly via his social media that in December of that year, he almost took his own life in a suicide attempt - the pressure became too much. After surviving this attempt, Nature immediately realized that he couldn't give up on his life, or his art, no matter what stood in his way.

Today, Kerrang! shared a very personal, exclusive interview with Nature G regarding his struggles with mental health and retaining his artistic freedoms. In conjunction with this interview, Nature explains that his consistent artistic approach of melding traditional folk elements of his nomadic culture with modern heavy metal has led him to return to his homeland of China multiple times since 2017 - each time aiding the healing process.

Read the exclusive interview here, and check out a new music video for the track "My Sky", filmed during one of his recent visits to his homeland, in which Nature learned even more about his nomadic roots and the true origins of some of today's most popular Mongolian tales: https://www.kerrang.com/features/how-a-suicide-attempt-helped-tengger-cavalrys-frontman-rediscover-his-musical-dreams/

Nature G says:-

"It has been almost two years since the incident. I witness many people struggling with very similar situations all the time. Hopefully by talking about it, we can bring more light to the issue and people will no longer feel alone when it comes to dealing with it."

Tengger Cavalry will release their new album, Northern Memory, on May 10, 2019. The album can be pre-ordered here.

The band recently announced four festival performances in Europe and North America as well - see below for a full listing and learn more via www.facebook.com/pg/tengger0cavalry/events.

June 7 - Aalborg, Denmark @ Studenterhuset - AR&M Festival
June 18 - New Haven, CT @ International Festival of Arts & Ideas
June 28/June 29 - Brande-Hörnerkirchen, Germany @ Hornerfest 2019
August 17 - Baltimore, MD @ Metro Gallery - Maryland Folk Metal Fest V

Tengger Cavalry ("the army of the sky god" in Mongolian) blends the nomadic musical traditions, instrumentation and warrior spirit of Central Asia with the aggression and power of heavy metal. The group was founded by Nature "G" Ganganbaigal, who sings using the ancient Mongolian tradition of Khoomei (more commonly known as throat-singing) and plays multiple native instruments, including the Morin Khuur (an ancient fiddle), the Tovshuur (a Mongolian guitar) and the Mongolian flute.

Following Nature G's relocation to America five years ago, Tengger Cavalry has successfully completed several tours and two sold out performances at New York City's prestigious Carnegie Hall.

In the studio, meanwhile, the group's output has been prodigious - since forming in 2010, they've released six full-length albums, two EPs and numerous singles, including unique cover interpretations of metal classics. In January, Megadeth's Dave Mustaine retweeted the group's cover of "Symphony of Destruction," while the previous month, the official Motörhead Facebook page reposted their rendition of "Fight."

New Zealand's Black / Death cult Heresiarch present a collection of freshly mastered earlier materials on 'Incursion'

26/4/2019

Picture

Forged in 2008, New Zealand’s Heresiarch is one of the most dominant forces of the current black / death metal underworld. The Wellington based malicious quartet has most recently crossed the threshold of an unprecedented level by bringing forth their debut LP, Death Ordinance. However, it will be inappropriate to glorify them solely based on the excellence of that album. Krucyator Productions offer the compilation CD Incursions —collecting all the materials that Heresiarch spawned prior to their 2017’s full length. All the tracks were newly mastered for this compilation album by Luke Finlay at Primal Mastering Studio to have an overall coherent sounding.

Presented in sequential order, the compilation starts with the numbers from 2011’s ruinous demo, Obsecrating the Global Holocaust. Having two originals and one Bathory tribute (Equimanthorn), this demo helped Heresiarch to create a strong buzz in the underground. The following six tracks are taken from the celebrated EP Hammer of Intransigencethe, originally came out a few months after the demo. The final three tracks are borrowed from their 2014’s manifestation, Wælwulf.

Incursions is the representation of Heresiarch’s relentless savagery. Available on CD via Krucyator Productions from April 22nd. .

Puerto Rican Prog Metallers Avandra stream entire new album at Metal Injection

Progressive metal band Avandra have teamed up with Metal Injection to stream the entirety of their new album Descender. The album will be released tomorrow via Blood Music.

Listen to the album here: https://metalinjection.net/av/full-album-stream/avandras-new-album-descender-is-post-hurricane-prog-metal-fury-from-puerto-rico

Pre-order the album here: https://www.blood-music.com/store-us/avandra/977-avandra-descender-cd.html

Having started as a one-man project by Christian Ayala, Avandra is a Puerto Rican progressive metal band born from hurricane-fuelled strife, and now becoming one of the scene’s breakout acts. Given their humble origins, Avandra was never meant to play live. However, after releasing the band’s first record, Tymora, demand was so high that Ayala felt obligated to bring his work to life on stage in May of 2017. By the time their second show rolled around a few months, later Puerto Rico had been ravaged by Hurricane Maria. Alone in the dark, Christian wrote what became the second Avandra record, Descender.

Having gained international attention with their debut release, the band found themselves on multiple year end lists. One fan, Nelson Varas, the director of such award winning metal music culture documentaries in the Caribbean as Distorted Island, Metal Island, and Songs of Injustice, ended up writing to Blood Music about the band. Suddenly, an act with the most humble of beginnings found themselves signed to a top notch taste-maker label with the power to push them over the top. Avandra’s hard work was starting to pay off.

2018 was a whirlwind for the fledgling prog act as they travelled to New Hampshire to record their new album with Daniel Schwartz of Astronoid, then enlisting the mastering talent of the legendary Magnus Lindberg. Featuring guest spots from current and former members of Haken, Dream Theater, and Astronoid, the band seems poised to unleash something truly different and special. In the midst of it all, they even performed a home-town show in San Juan as opener for metal legends Orphaned Land. From out of the storm’s wreckage, Avandra have spent over a year preparing this stunning sophomore release, and shall soon come forth and unleash prog metal mayhem.

Skyeye's latest album "Digital God" came out on November 9, 2018. Just recently the band revealed:

"We are already working on new material and it looks like we are going to step up technical and arrangement abilities even further. We are all evolving our skills as we write new songs. Writing new material is really an uplifting experience for all of us."

Slovenian heavy metal band SkyEye was founded in 2014 by guitarist Grega Stalowsky, bassist Primož Lovšin and singer Jan Lešcanec. SkyEye got its current line-up in 2016 when guitarist Marko Kavcnik and drummer Jurij Nograšek joined the band. Unique and powerful vocals combined with raw and melodic guitar riffs give the band its signature heavy metal sound, reminiscent of other major representatives of the genre, like Iron Maiden, Saxon or Judas Priest. The band made its debut appearance in June 2017, and only four months later brought out its first EP under the title "Run for Your Life". The overwhelmingly positive response and strong support at their performances drove the Skyeye back into the studio to record their debut album "Digital God", which was released on November 9, 2018.

Stated the band:

"The way we see it, there are no obstacles, there are only challenges. Right now we are happy that we successfully launched our debut album and this is the ticket to get opportunities to play bigger and bigger shows."

The album cover of "Digital God" represents humanity, which is already almost entirely enslaved by its digital god. Yet, a sliver of hope remains for us to free ourselves from the digital shackles and hear the beating of our hearts again. The brute, fast and uncompromising title track speaks of how humanity’s vanity, greed and unrestrained abuse of technology is inadvertently creating an entity that is greater and more powerful than its creator. The day when we completely enslave ourselves is no longer far. Digital God is a warning against the downfall of the human race. The album features nine other original tracks in English that the band has written in the past four years, including three epic songs—Galactic Wind, Tsunami and Jerusalem—whose combined duration of 30 minutes by far exceeds today’s trends of instant music.

"The road from our previous release music video/single "Fight Or Die" to the release of our debut album has been long but rewarding. The composing process of the album has made us grow as a musicians and "Fooled Again" is a primary example of that. It was the first brand new song composed for the album. It contains the attitude and aggressiveness combining the new and old school elements, which has worked as a foundation of our Thrash Metal. Sound vice for the album we were looking for more grandiosity and tightness, and we achieved that in the studio with "Fooled Again", which we have used as a base for the album"
