The Browning could very well be heavy music's answer to the Terminator. Whereas everybody's favourite Arnold Schwarzenegger cyborg hid an exoskeleton under a sheath of skin, the Kansas City quartet—Jonny [vocals, electronics], Cody [drums], Brian [guitar], and Rick [bass]— thinly veil a hard rock edge beneath a casing of skittering electronic dance music, hip-hop grime, metallic brutality, and industrial expanse. That signature style is "back" in a big way on "Isolation", their third full-length album and first for Spinefarm Records. "Isolation" arrives on June 24 and it's The Browning's most ambitious offering to date. "Over the course of the last three years, rock music is primarily all I've listened to,” Jonny explains. "I've been ingesting bands like Rammstein, Disturbed, and Three Days Grace. My writing swung towards that. I knew this album was going to have more of a rock vibe. Obviously, there's still metal, but the scope has expanded. The electronics remain a big part of it. Since day one, the whole point was to not only be the heaviest electronic band, but the band with by far the most electronics." He furthered, "Isolation is by far the best album The Browning has done yet. It has everything I wanted in it and nothing is missing. It shows how the band has progressed and matured since our last release. So I cannot wait for the world to hear it." The first track "Pure Evil" is available with pre-orders.

Guitarist, composer and lyricist René Berthiaume spent almost two years working on this new opus called 'Armageddon'. The result is rather dark, yet still contains the bombast and folk elements of the previous records. This time, the album was recorded, mixed and produced by René himself and was mastered by Maor Appelbaum (Los Angeles). The cover artwork was again created by Skadi Rosehurst. René states: "Once more, Skadi created a wonderful piece of art, which captures the more darker atmosphere of 'Armageddon' perfectly. As on the album, you can discover a lot of details in the artwork as well. Skadi's style - traditionally drawn motifs become one overall picture digitally - fits marvellously to our music. Again and again, it's an exciting feeling if the music becomes even more concrete and livelier by the artwork." 'Armageddon' will be released on August 12th, 2016 via Nuclear Blast Records. Marilyn Manson's groundbreaking and maniacal career as arguably the biggest, most controversial artist of his time has undoubtedly left a huge mark on not just the alternative music world, but alternative society as a whole. Since the creation of Marilyn Manson in the early '90s, the seer, scribe, painter, actor, criminal, panderer of chaos, live performer and rock and roll demagogue has sold over 50 million records worldwide, including his latest offering, "The Pale Emperor". His ninth studio album sees Manson roaring back above the froth of mass-media and mediocrity to deliver a set of soul-stripping, kiss-smearing, church floor-burning songs that comprise, unequivocally, his most fully-wrought album since 1998's epochal "Mechanical Animals". Marilyn Manson has appeared on the cover of Alternative Press Magazine four times, with his first appearance in the magazine in 1996 (AP 93). "The Pale Emperor" is also nominated for the 2016 Album of the Year award, presented by Journeys, a full 20 years after the release of his legendary 1996 album "Antichrist Superstar". Manson's unique ability to continually make trends and break the mold of the music industry is why he, along with his legacy, is the perfect candidate for this year's Icon Award, presented by Equal Vision Records / MerchNOW. This year's APMAs, hosted by Alex Gaskarth and Jack Barakat of eight-time AP cover stars All Time Low, will broadcast live the evening of July 18 from the Schottenstein Center in Columbus, Ohio (schottensteincenter.com). After Epidemia from Ecuador comes another Death Metal beast, this time from Venezuela, on the same label. Satanath Records is definitely on to something and the music here is too good to be overlooked. One of the songs was exclusively premiered by the deputy editor over at Transcending Obscurity webzine HERE. Venezuelan Death Metal band Evil Reborn have probably released the best meat and potatoes Death Metal album of the year. Fans of pummelling, catchy and extremely rifftastic death metal are going to eat out of their hands. This is comparable to all the 'cool' Death Metal bands that you grew up listening to, except that this isn't shamelessly old school and is even semi-technical to an extent. It's perfect, in other words, without veering too far into the progressive or brutal regions. Sinister, Malevolent Creation, Deicide, Monstrosity and Cannibal Corpse are all bands that come to mind when listening to Evil Reborn but they're not directly derivative to any - they just keep innovating using the best kind of ingredients. The songs on this debut full length are seriously engrossing to the extent that you lose track of time and even reality. It's just shocking to come across death metal that's so pure in essence and of the kind that just leaps at you and grabs you by the throat from the moment you press play. This bodes tremendously well for the future of death metal from Venezuela. It's masterfully done.
