Savannah, Georgia five-piece Vatican will release their new album "Ultra" 17th June via UNFD. Pre-order it here. Now, they have shared the explosive video for "[Ultragold]." Watch it here. Guitarist Tom Lovejoy shares his thoughts:- "This is the dopest track on the record. Big BREAKDOWNS, ridiculous RIFFS, and heavy HITTERS. '[ULTRAGOLD]' was written in two hours at 2am while chugging Monster, and never changed from there. Full late night LAN party style. When I hear it, it reminds me of all the reasons I fell in love with hardcore. Everlasting growth, eternal youth, and lyrics that make you grab your friends and throw them into a wall." If you've not had a chance to witness a Vatican show yet — due to the pandemic or other reasons — allow this video to serve as a primer for the band's volcanic live energy.
After developing a name for themselves and garnering press praise from Revolver, Kerrang!, New Noise, and more with 2019's full-length Sole Impulse, Vatican stormed out of the gates hard in 2021, when they signed to UNFD and released their knockout double single effort Become A New God. Featuring singles "Absolute Reality" and "Fractured God," both of which received full rotation adds on SiriusXM’s Liquid Metal, Become A New God saw Vatican tackling the complexity of the human experience and all its brokenness, uncertainties, strangeness, and need for constant self-reflection and improvement." They followed with "Decemeta," which dropped late last year at Brooklyn Vegan. Vatican are influenced by the "f**k you" frankness of heavy hardcore, but with the technical leads of djent and progressive metal. Cynical of technology, but enamoured with video games. The band quickly began shaping their sound from nascent metalcore into something more complex and interesting. By the time Vatican released their first full-length, Sole Impulse, in 2019, they had developed past their exploratory beginnings and were making a fairly serious mark in the scene with a polished, well-performed strain of challenging and confrontational metalcore. But an even more invigorating chapter began when vocalist Mike Sugars entered the fold in October 2020, replacing the band’s former frontman, John Whittle. Sugars had been fronting Indianapolis' Church Tongue, friends of Vatican who just so happened to be slowing down as a band when Sugars was contacted by Soto-Ramos. The mutual admiration of each other's dopeness led to an instant connection, with Sugars making his recorded debut on last year's Become a New God double single. He quickly infused the band with a new energy, as well an immediately focused lyrical theme of regaining self-control and owning one's problems in such a way that, well, one becomes their own god. Fast-forward to 2022. With their latest full-length, Ultra, the band have metabolized all their ambitiously varied musical influences and merged them into a forward-thinking approach that pulls in their love of video games and subtle humour, resulting in an impossibly tasteful and wildly varied, post-modern metalcore affair. As they did on other recent efforts, the band still harken to the complexity of Meshuggah’s polyrhythms and the Dillinger Escape Plan’s technical abrasion, as well as Hatebreed and Turmoil's more straightforward, metallic hardcore foundation – but there's also guitarist Tom Lovejoy's electronics and Sugars' clean singing. Ultra is infused with the band's overall personality, and what results is a subtle aura of dark satire that's more refined than it sounds on paper. " Above it all, Sugars bellows, barks, and sometimes sings a wide range of topics spanning more emotions than just anger. To be sure, he rages against inhumane billionaires and the ills of nü-internet; grapples with mixed feelings towards his father; and much more.

Spanish thrash metal band, Reaktion, have released a music video for 'To Expect Nothing', it's the title track from their third album, which was released in June 2021. With their latest album, entitled “To Expect Nothing”, Barcelona-based thrash metal band Reaktion completes what they have called “The Existence Trilogy”, after “Blackmailed Existence” (2016) and “Learning to Die” (2019). All the albums have been recorded, mixed and master at Axtudio, one of the most important metal studios in Catalonia. The trilogy, or “thrashology” as they like to call it, consists of three parts: the first record talks about the idea of the death as something that has to happen. The second one, the second album, is based on, since we all have to die, how we can approach life. The last part, “To Expect Nothing” (2021), calls for a life of acceptance and stoicism. 'To Expect Nothing' was recorded, mixed and mastered at Axtudio (Barcelona, Spain). Reaktion was formed in 2014 in Barcelona and is one of the most important thrash metal bands in Spain. They have toured Spain and Portugal several times, supporting Brazilian thrash metal band Nervosa and twice the classic German speed metal band SDI. They have played in many festivals including Vagos in Portugal, and their last gig was in Madrid supporting Artillery.
Motionless In White have shared "Slaughterhouse," a brand new song featuring Knocked Loose's Bryan Garris. "Slaughterhouse" is available today on all streaming platforms and featured on Motionless In White's widely-anticipated new album Scoring The End of the World, due out June 10. The forthcoming album is available to pre-save on all streaming platforms today, with exclusive merch bundles available for pre-order in the band's official store. Building on the anticipation for Scoring The End of the World, "Slaughterhouse" follows the previously released singles "Masterpiece" and "Cyberhex," the official videos for which quickly trended Top 10 on YouTube and have since amassed over 6 million views. Furthermore, "Masterpiece" continues to grow at the Active Rock radio format, jumping into the Top 30 this week and continuing to grow in audience. Scoring The End of the World fully encompasses the expanse of the band's dynamic, deep, and dark vision, and marks the band's first full-length body of work in three years since 2019's Disguise. The latter has quietly made a major impact on rock music and culture. The single "Another Life" stands out as their most-streamed song ever with over 25 million YouTube views on the music video. The record claimed a spot on Loudwire's "50 Best Metal Albums of 2019," plus it ignited the creative renaissance that would set the stage for the statement-making Scoring The End of the World.
Motionless In White harnessed the power of an unholy union between industrial metal dissonance, spellbinding gothic pop bombast, and big screen-worthy iconography to emerge as 21 century rock's most iconoclastic and cinematic force. Climbing out of the shadows of the rustbelt in Scranton, PA, the group has tirelessly earned the undying allegiance of a devout worldwide audience one record at a time. With over half-a-billion cumulative streams and views to date, they have notched three consecutive Top 5 debuts on the Billboard Top Hard Rock Albums Chart and Top Rock Albums Chart with Reincarnate [2014], Graveyard Shift [2017], and Disguise [2019]. The latter spawned the inescapable "Another Life," which tallied over 100 million streams and counting. Not to mention, Jonathan Davis of Korn, Maria Brink of In This Moment, and Dani Filth of Cradle of Filth have welcomed the opportunity to collaborate. After countless sold-out gigs and festivals, they co-headlined the Trinity of Terror Tour, selling out venues coast-to-coast. However, everything set the stage for their 2022 opus, Scoring The End of the World. Right out of the gate, the single "Cyberhex" trended Top 10 on YouTube, while the follow-up "Masterpiece" lit up streaming platforms. With guests as diverse Bryan Garris of Knocked Loose, Caleb Shomo of Beartooth, and video game composer Mick Gordon, the album finds the group's vision magnified wider than ever before with no shortage of teeth, fire, and blood. It's the dawn of their biggest chapter yet.

Sweden's melodic death metal veterans Soilwork are back with big news! After their EP release back in December of 2021, it is time for the first studio album in three years. Soilwork's Björn Strid comments on their new album: "The title track of this album just might be the pinnacle of this band’s musical journey - it sums up everything that we’ve ever been about and the sometimes risky musical venture that this band embarked on some 20 years ago. To me this song is as close to the heart as it gets." The announcement of Övergivenheten comes with the band's first single, which is the title track 'Övergivenheten' and delivers a great introduction to Soilwork's first studio album in three years!
Övergivenheten will be released in the following formats:
www.facebook.com/soilwork In support of their second studio album, Censored, Sofia-based, extreme metal force Gwendydd has just premiered a new music video for the blistering track "Martyrdom"! Censored is out now on Drakkar Entertainment and available at THIS LOCATION. Gwendydd has developed from an unusual perspective when it comes to the metal scene, as it all started at prime-time TV talent show "The Voice Of Bulgaria". Pop starlet after pop starlet are giving their best to lull the audience with their favourite tearjerker. And then there is this innocent girly voice, performing Taylor Swift’s "Look what you made me do". Both audience and jury feel safe and sound. Until the song reaches the first chorus. What happened then, shocked and electrified the studio audience and a whole country in front of their TVs. With her brutal and angst-inducing death metal growls she seems to be ripping apart the original US pop star and spitting her left-overs all over the studio interior. Shock and joy, curiosity and fear melt into ecstatic cheering and a hurricane of applause. That girl’s name is Victoria Stoichkova and her performance quickly reached more than five million views on YouTube with a bursting comment section full of enthusiasm and cheering. This was the starting point of a career for sure, and what soon should become a full band and Europe’s next up-and-coming, extreme metal hopes Gwendydd! Formed in 2018 in Sofia, Bulgaria, and driven by a modern production, complemented by the mastering fingerprint of Max Morton (Jinjer, Ignea,..), the band‘s vibrant blend of wrecking guitar riffs and adrenalizing drums builds up to an extreme-metal avalanche. The perfect carrier for that brute death metal voice, which cuts deep into the flesh of modern society – not only with words but with a message.
Behemoth, the high priests of extreme metal have announced their 12th studio album, Opvs Contra Natvram, their most thought-provoking and arresting collection to date, set for release on September 16th, via Nuclear Blast. The album's first single, 'Ov My Herculean Exile' arrives today, alongside a cinematic official video, directed by Zuzanna Plisz. The 10 chapters of fury that make up Opvs Contra Natvram were written and recorded over the course of a very strange year for the globe - a situation which only heightened the level of craft seen in these 43 minutes and 15 seconds of searing wrath. As with previous studio outings, Opvs… was produced by Behemoth, with mixing by studio legend Joe Barresi (Nine Inch Nails, Tool, QOTSA, Alice in Chains).
Renowned for his meticulous attention to detail and absolute creative control of Behemoth’s world, frontman and band visionary, Adam 'Nergal' Darski revelled in the depressurised environment afforded by the pandemic. It meant that for nearly the first time since the band’s inception over 30 years ago, there was no deadline to observe, allowing for a nearly unprecedented level of attention to the process of writing and recording. Beyond any confines of genre, Behemoth have grown to become nothing less than the personification of rebellion, individuality and unflinching self-expression informed by a literate worldview and worldliness that’s resulted in a locking of horns with everything from the mainstream press to the Polish Catholic church – most notably manifesting in Nergal’s trial for blasphemy in 2010 that only served to expose the deep-seated hypocrisies that his music seeks to challenge. Nergal states: “The album title means going against the current. It’s the negative of the values and morals and ethics that I stand against. I’ve seriously been wrestling with destructive tendencies in pop culture - cancel culture, social media, and tools which I feel are very dangerous weapons in the hands of people who are not competent to judge others. That’s something which I find very destructive and disturbing - and extremely limiting coming from an artists’ perspective. This is my middle finger to that. There’s a song on the record called 'Neo-Spartacvs'. Spartacus was one of the most iconic rebels in history who went against the most powerful empire of all time. In the end, it’s me screaming, ‘I Am Spartacus, and so are you!’ I want to spark that flame of rebellion. If something seems wrong then stand up to it!” Album artwork: Anton 'Strss893' Pavsyuk Opvs Contra Natvram tracklist: POST-GOD NIRVANA MALARIA VVLGATA THE DEATHLESS SUN OV MY HERCULEAN EXILE NEO-SPARTACVS DISINHERITANCE OFF TO WAR! ONCE UPON A PALE HORSE THY BECOMING ETERNAL VERSVS CHRISTVS Opvs Contra Natvram features twin cover art available in both black and white and will be released in the following array of physical formats, certain to thrill collectors of limited editions:
Finnish melodic metal band Lilli releases the third single from the upcoming second album on Thursday 12th of May. The song titled Elude is a heavy sounding but still wistful story of giving one’s all but still to be left with nothing. Elude following the two earlier single releases - Limits of Life and Manflake - continues the musical development leaning towards heavier sounds compared to the band’s first album Awful Hits for Women (2020). Vocalist Lily Black sums it up:- ”The lyrics are about trial and error in a relationship, about giving all you got to someone but still just not being enough. Eventually one is forced to give up and let go, but still the doubt remains: did I try hard enough or could I have given it more effort?" Guitarist Teemu Harjunen and bassist Sami Halinen comment on the song:- "Elude differs from other our songs because the basic structure was created almost two years ago but the finishing took time. The chorus especially took a lot of work and we ground it to the point of tiring. We put the song on the shelf for a while and got back to working on it in the beginning of 2022 as we were working on the second album. Suddenly it all just clicked and the released version also includes a synthesizer bringing wideness to the sound. The song is very nice to play and as an upbeat song it works great in live shows as well”
The song has been recorded in the group’s bassist Sami Halinen’s home studio in Nakkila Mixing was done by Sami Niittykoski (SN-Audio Production) and mastering Alho Audio Mastering. LILLI is a melodic rock and metal playing band founded in February 2019 from Pori, Finland. Band line-up on Elude single:
Canadian progressive death metal quintet Truent have released the official video for new single "This Verdant Coil," a track from forthcoming album Through The Vale of Earthly Torment. The single is also available on all the usual digital platforms. Truent will self-release their full-length debut album, Through The Vale of Earthly Torment, on June 17. Pre-order below. The band previously released the official video for album track "The Last Hunt," which is available at: youtu.be/i9slBGYesLc Born in a small town outside of Vancouver, BC, Truent is an exhilarating Canadian metal act on the rise. Combining massive riffs, head-spinning technicality, and sharp song writing, Truent has crafted a crushing brand of groove-laden progressive death metal that is uniquely their own. Album Credits:
The band has released the following statement concerning the forthcoming new album: "Written and recorded while the world was being ravaged by the pandemic, Through the Vale of Earthly Torment was an exercise in escapism for us from the grim realities of life in turbulent times. While not a concept album in the traditional sense, we turned to themes of mythology and lore, exploring how people from all corners of the globe across all time periods have used myths to create vivid descriptions of their values. Each song centres itself around a creature or deity, and each of these entities are made to represent one of the seven deadly vices, giving the album a consistent through-line to follow. Musically, we expanded our sound with influences from all across the heavy music spectrum in order to create the most dynamic record we could. The songs weave together pummelling and technical riffs, triumphant choruses, and a number of oddball moments that hit seemingly from nowhere. There’s a wide mix of subgenres and sounds we explore throughout the album, often within the same song. We incorporate elements of everything from tech death to thrash metal to metallic hardcore into the records core sound of groove-filled progressive death metal. We do not want to be an easy band to categorize, and we feel this record is our most diverse work to date." Truent has spent the last few years cultivating a strong following throughout Western Canada. With two EPs, multiple tours of the region, and shows supporting the likes of Archspire and Voivod, the band earned themselves a spot on AltPress’ list of “50 rising Canadian bands to keep on your radar." With these experiences under their belt, Truent entered the studio in the spring of 2021 with producer Tim Creviston (Spiritbox, Angelmaker, Misery Signals) to record their debut full-length album, Through the Vale of Earthly Torment, to be released June 17, 2022 “Monolith, from US symphonic metal project Nomadic Narwhal, is a tale of destruction and beauty. One could only imagine, whether looking for it or not, being on a dive and coming across a Monolith. Something clearly manmade that has been submerged for decades, totally coral-encrusted and heavily eroded. Monolith begins with an eerie feeling of being in an unknown environment that builds into a more fantastical feel as if you had made a mysterious discovery. The listener is then challenged to imagine how something like that is now underwater with heavy riffing and rhythm. A destructive force had to have brought this world as it is underwater. A chaotic event involving the titanic force of mother nature. The track then shifts gears to more of an epic build signifying the natural thoughts to follow of mystique and wonder. Attempting to capture the excitement and significance of such an experience, Monolith ties multiple emotions into one moment before bringing the listener back to a brutal ending symbolizing a resurfacing with more than just a story to tell.” – Jesse Beisner [Nomadic Narwhal] Nomadic Narwhal is:
