Canadian black metal band Finnr's Cane have released their new song "Willow" via Toilet ov Hell. The song is taken from their upcoming album Elegy which will be released via Prophecy Productions this July. The site commented:- "With a doomy approach to atmospheric black metal, the trio shows a few of their many sides in these short five minutes. It highlights the soft tremolo, cello that occasionally pops its head up from laying the foundation to lead, and of course, a dark and moody tone. After a great long intro, the vocals kick in low in the mix with a blackened folk riff over the top." The band further commented:- "“Willow” was one of the first songs that was composed for Elegy. The majority of the track is instrumental, however clean and harsh vocals make an appearance in the final movement. The lyrics were written to reflect the juxtaposition of sadness and joy that one feels when they are seemingly the only person that is awake in the early hours of the morning. These quiet hours, and the slow sway of willow branches under dim light, were the primary sources of inspiration for this song."" Finnish modern metallers None Dare Call It Conspiracy have signed a distribution deal with Wormholedeath for their album "Pawns And Kings"! The album will be released on 29 June 2018 via Wormholedeath / The Orchard in all digital stores worldwide. Band Statement: "We are proud to finally be able to release the long coming second album Pawns and kings in collaboration with WormHoleDeath this year. The making of the album was a long journey stacked with countless step backs but like we have done in the past we overcame all of it and here we finally are with an album that we can stand behind and label that will drive us forward to a new level as a band. The future of None Dare Call It Conspiracy looks promising so stay tuned cause you’ll be hearing from us" Founded in 2005 by Toni Toikkanen (bass) and Jani Elokoski (guitar), N.D.C.I.C. began practicing in the Vuosaari youth house and soon had a complete line up. William Torrey (vocals), Seppo Kallioinen (drums), and Juha-Matti Paussu (solo) stepped into their roles as original members, and many shows were played. The band quickly found themselves as an East- Helsinki favorite, and started to think beyond their current situation. It wasn't long until the band met and befriended drummer/producer Tonmi Lillman (Ajattara, kylähullut, sinergy, to/die/for,lordi)), and began working with him in the studio. Under his direction, they grew into their sound, taking the raw ingredients they already had and turning it into the fully grown style they have today. And when personal and musical differences led to the departure of Kallioinen, Lillman stepped into that slot as well. Work on Tales of the Lost began in January 2009 in D-Studio, but quickly ran into trouble. Major financial issues reared their head, and the band found themselves partway through yet deeply in debt. Slowly, they raised the capital needed, and completed the album late in 2011. Everything seemed to be on track once more, when in February 2012 tragedy struck. Tonmi Lillman was found dead in his apartment in Helsinki , and the band took his loss hard. It was several months before they even considered who might step into the very large shoes left by Tonmi, but one thing was sure: his final album WOULD be released. 2012 saw a renewed energy fill the band, as Tuomas Mäkelä was brought in on drums. Almost everything seemed to be moving ahead well, but personal issues were intruding on things once again. When it became clear that these issues were not solvable, the band regretfully parted ways with Juha-Matti Paussu, and Johannes Oravainen stepped in on lead guitar. Following the release of 2013s Tales of the Lost NDCIC forged ahead once more, performing shows across finland while beginning to write new material for the inevitable follow up album. During this writing process it became appearant that the band had once again begun to grow stylistically, leaving behind much of the symphonic backround present in TotL and embracing a more agressive sound. Tuomas was replaced by Petri Jokisalo and the writing process continued, riff by riff and line by line. The band began recording what would become Pawns and Kings in early 2015. The new style had been refined and polished and all was going well. But Petri was slowly coming to the realisation that he was not interested anymore. That summer he decided to leave to focus on another project and Ville Holmström replaced him on drums. In 2018, talks began with record label Wormhole Death for the release of the new album. A deal was signed, and it was agreed that summer of that year would mark the bands first official release. Since then we have been training, polishing, preparing. Pawns and Kings is ready for release, and we are ready to release it. Are you ready? FOLLOW NONE DARE CALL IT CONSPIRACY www.facebook.com/NDCICBAND British death/doom band Dygora have teamed up with Invisible Oranges to stream their new song "Lucy". The song is taken from their upcoming EP Chamber of Reflections. Listen to the song here: http://www.invisibleoranges.com/lucy-is-dygoras-brutal-missing-link/ The Death/Doom metal legion Dygora came to life in 2016 with the initial collaboration of vocalist Omar Swaby & guitarist Reece Beasley in London. To complete this early incarnation, the band rounded out their sound with a second guitarist Mark Cross and Kieran Heraghty on drums, and a year later solidified the line up with the addition of Archie Farrer on bass guitar. Dygora set out early on to hit as much of the UK as possible, playing live to showcase their unique blend of metal, with evil throaty vocals that could curdle blood, non-stop pummelling drums and blistering guitar riffs that go from articulate death metal picking to some of the heaviest doom-laden progressions that this planet has ever heard. 2018 sees a new year for Dygora with the unveiling of their latest EP titled “Chambers of Reflections”. This follow up to their previously released demo is slated to come out in July to an eagerly anticipating audience of metal heads. This also marks the year that Dygora will play their first international show when they head out to Tokyo this September. Dygora have been writing, touring and recording for almost two years now, and making a prominent mark in the local scene, and delivering an auditory message that reflects upon their turmoil. They are ready to bring their interpretation of extremity and perseverance around the world. "Blessed are the hearts that can bend; they shall never be broken". Spanish traditional metal band Lizzies have returned with a brand new video for their song "Final Sentence". The song is taken from the upcoming album On Thin Ice which will be released in October of this year via The Sign Records. Watch the video here: https://www.decibelmagazine.com/2018/06/15/video-premiere-lizzies-final-sentence/ Lizzies are a four piece heavy metal act from Madrid, Spain. Their impressive riffing, and most specially their strength and power onstage, has helped the band build an outstanding reputation that took them to play in Germany (Metalheadz Open Air & Headbangers Open Air), Sweden (Muskelrock) and England (Live Evil), and also to become one of the most promising bands of the underground scene in Europe. Lizzies are heading out on a European tour up on the release of On Thin Ice. The band was founded in 1999 in Chernigiv under the name Blackend. Originally Crystal Sword were inspired by bands such as Metallica, Sepultura, In Flames and Cradle of filth. The lyrics of the band are associated with philosophy, religion and symbolism. For today, the band released two full-length albums. For certain reasons, the album "Зло внутри" ("Evil inside ...") was not presented to the Western listener. In 2018 the band decided to release limited part of album "Evil inside..." Russian progressive death metal band Skyglow released a single 'Sacred Self-Deceit'. The track is taken from their upcoming debut album 'Thousand Years of Terror' which is released by Inverse Records (digitally) & Grotesque Sounds (CD) on June 30th 2018. Watch the video: https://youtu.be/H-FIvnCaXYY The band currently consists of just two members: Alexander Mokin (author, vocalist) and Sergey Stepanenko (guitarist). They make studio music and do not perform live. The best part of their music is its insane composition, original complex riffs and its aggressive and chaotic yet sentimental atmosphere. Band comments: "Recently we finished our debut album named Thousand Years of Terror. It is dedicated to the problems of totalitarian states, inspired by the political situation in Russia." The album will be released this autumn on CD, vinyl LP, and cassette tape formats. A veritable underground institution, Apokalyptic Raids have become a hallowed name among diehards the world over for one simple-but-special fact: they started as an unapologetic Hellhammer-worship band (and very early Celtic Frost, too) but have transcended their obvious influences into something that actually adds to that legendary canon rather than merely ripping it off. And, as of this year, they've been gloriously succeeding for 20 years now. Although these Brazilian bastards have released a half-dozen EPs the last five years, it's been a far-too-long eight years since the last Apokalyptic Raids album, Vol. 4 - Phonocopia, so to say that The Pentagram is long overdue is quite the understatement. And of course, they DELIVER, which is not surprising given that they've gone back to the classic 2004-2007 line-up of Leon Manssur "Necromaniac" on guitars and vocals, Vinicius Canabarro "Hellpreacher" on the bass, and Pedro Moraes Rocha "Skullkrusher" on the drums. "The last 10 years have been a blast here," explains Manssur. "We did extensive touring -Brazil three times, Europe twice, South America also twice, many one-off gigs - yet we stayed behind in renewing our discography. Don't get me wrong - composition went on frantically. We took notes and demoed many ideas. Sincerely, this album is just a (new) beginning, and the next one is already on the make..." Adorned with characteristically iconic artwork courtesy of close comrade Umberto, The Pentagram is indeed a new beginning, but one that reverently adheres to Apokalyptic Raids' iron-clad past. Perhaps not surprisingly, the album's compositions span a good decade and a half - "There are songs from last year, and there are songs that were composed 10+ years ago," Manssur reveals - but as always, it sounds 666% like Apokalyptic Raids. Tons of galloping hard-chargers, lots of dirtiness, more metal attitude than is healthy, and even a moody epic in closer "The Story of Pope Joan": no fucking sell-out, and no quarter given. "With all the things that happened inside and outside the band, the idea of starting anew has grown up," Manssur continues. "We hate those albums when the band thinks they have become more 'mature' and then...wimp out. Wimping out is a consequence of ego shit. No, not again in this scene today, not in 2018. Meanwhile, many bands of the 2000s generation went on to greatness, and that raised the ante in a way that pushed us forward." Within their now-sizable catalogue, especially one so rich with rottenness, it's both comforting and refreshing that Apokalyptic Raids would make their long-awaited return to the full-length front one that's purely "back to basics." And it's not just idly titled, either, as Manssur explains: "The new album being simply called The Pentagram is a statement of simplicity, less is more, keep it simple, rustic - whatever you call it. And yes, still tuned to E flat, so it's safe to hear and being able to get the riffs. It's all about the riff - old as fuck and fresh as fuck!" He adds, "Of course we have took risks. There is an epic heavy metal song, like some pieces we did before, but with new twists. The planning was long, the execution was quick, and that's it. We always try to get a good balance of 'quick gratification,' though not instant, and 'risk.'" Lastly, there are the lyrics to The Pentagram. Concludes Manssur:- "Fenriz [Darkthrone etc] once wrote we were doing more personal lyrics. And that is true, given we are old metalheads full of shit, except that we don't want to get stuck there and to preach too much. So, on this album, you will find statement after statement of 'upward' feelings - the words 'victory' and 'triumph' are recurring. Not that it could ever spoil the anger! Strange in a Hellhammer-worshiping band? Maybe, maybe not. And I love/hate playing a nameless style. It is and it is not black, death, heavy, speed, thrash, etc. It's HELL. It's HELL Music. Find that out, love it or hate it - danger is a good part of the fun." Release date, first track, and preorder info to be announced shortly. www.apokalypticraids.com www.hellsheadbangers.com www.facebook.com/hellsheadbangers Unborn Generation has released a new album today June 15th. ”Vøid” is a concept album about the main character's seek of truth that leads him into the darkness, to the deep black abyss. The album includes 30 minutes of grim and dirty Grind ’n’ Roll that grabs the listener with a tight grip. "There might be few moments of relief on the way. But it sure ain't a holiday trip to sunny Las Palmas" says the guitar player and vocalist Herkko. ”Vøid” is the first release with the new line-up and the album is released via Inverse Records. The Metal Hammer Golden God Awards 2018 in association with Monster Energy was once again the ultimate celebration of the past 12 months of rock and metal from around the world. Ozzy Osbourne was on hand to collect the evening’s main accolade, The Golden God Award, and an incredible full-production set from Parkway Drive closed the ceremony. Taking place at Indigo at The O2, London on Monday, June 11, Hatebreed frontman Jamey Jasta hosted this unique and special night, which was, like all Golden Gods shows, all about the fans. There were no tables, no sit-down dinners, no industry backslapping – this was a room full of genuine fans who have voted in their hundreds of thousands to see their favourite bands be victorious. “The Golden Gods aren’t just the biggest metal awards on the planet – they’re the only music awards that put our community at the very heart of it all,” says Metal Hammer Editor, Merlin Alderslade. “Thank you to everyone who came out to support the awards and who continue to support the magazine. What a night. Same again next year, yeah?” With a career dating back almost five decades, Ozzy Osbourne’s status sees him rightly revered as one of the most important – and, at times, infamous – figureheads in all of rock and metal, which is why he was presented with 2018’s Golden God accolade. The Prince Of Darkness himself came to the event, fresh from his headline set at the Download Festival on Sunday (June 10) to accept his accolade. On receiving the award, Ozzy said, "What an immense honour it is to be getting a second Golden God Award after Sabbath picked one up last year. The fans who have supported me and this music mean everything to me, which is why getting this award is so special.” Previous acceptees of the Golden God included Motörhead legend Lemmy, Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine and Rob Zombie amongst others. Parkway Drive are one of the most exciting live bands on the planet, and they closed the show with a blistering full-production set. This was an incredibly intense and intimate show for the band that headlined Download Festival’s Zippo Encore Stage on Saturday (June 9) and last year played two nights at the prestigious, 5,000-capacity Brixton Academy as part of their world tour. As ever, the awards ceremony was woven together with live performances, making this five-artist bill one of the most exciting of the year. Synthwave sensation Carpenter Brut opened the show playing alongside Baroness, Myrkur and Meshuggah. In previous years, there have been headline sets from Motörhead, Mastodon, Anthrax and Steel Panther to name but a few. The evening's awards once again honoured the very best new and established artists from around the globe, as well as the events and record labels that make this genre the force it is. Japan’s latest metal sensations, Lovebites, won Best New Band sponsored by Röad Crew. The all-female power metal crew have taken their motherland by storm and look set for world domination! Wolves In The Throne Room won Best Underground Band sponsored by Relapse Records. The American black metallers released their sixth full-length studio album, ‘Thrice Woven’, in September to critical acclaim. Judas Priest, like fellow Brummies Black Sabbath, are one of the forefathers and most important bands in rock and metal, and they were winners of the Best British Band sponsored by Nuclear Blast. Next year is their 50th anniversary, and they are still as relevant and immense today as the day they began! Best Live Band sponsored by Monster Energy was won by Italy’s multi-award-winning gothic metallers, Lacuna Coil. Best International Band went to Sweden's melodic death metallers Arch Enemy, who co-headlined a sold-out North America tour in 2017 with Trivium and released their acclaimed 10th studio album, ‘Will To Power’. US-based Sumerian Records have been a driving force for modern metal bands and this year won the Best Independent Label. Winner of the Best Event sponsored by Spinefarm Records needs no introduction and is without doubt one of the most respected festivals in the world: Download. Taking place the weekend before the Golden God Awards, the festival’s headliners this year were Avenged Sevenfold, Guns N’ Roses and the Golden God himself, Ozzy Osbourne. Breakthrough sponsored by Sumerian Records this year went to Code Orange, who released their third album, ‘Forever’, in 2017 through Roadrunner Records, which propelled their career and saw them nominated for a Grammy for the album’s opening track of the same name. Wes Borland, Limp Bizkit guitarist and the lead vocalist and guitarist of the alternative and industrial metal bands Black Light Burns and Big Dumb Face, was this year's Riff Lord sponsored by Chapman Guitars. Lebanon's Kaoteon have been arrested and have found huge opposition to their music from authorities and religious groups in their own country. Despite this, they are at the forefront of a growing metal scene in Beirut and are taking the metal world by storm. They are the worthy winners of the Global Metal Award sponsored by Century Media. The Inspiration Award sponsored by uDiscover was won by Sweden’s Meshuggah, who were formed more than 30 years ago, and Best Album sponsored by Roadrunner Records went to Denmark’s Myrkur for her second album, 'Mareridt', and both artists performed live on the night. Spirit Of Hammer sponsored by Sliptrick Records went to Jessica Pimentel, who plays Maria Ruiz in ‘Orange Is The New Black’ and is also the lead singer of metal band Alekhine's Gun and backing vocalist in the band Brujeria. Spirit Of Hammer is an award for those who hold the principles and passion of metal and what Metal Hammer stands for! Icon sponsored by Zippo Encore doesn’t get bigger than Maynard James Keenan. Vocalist of Tool, Puscifer and A Perfect Circle, he has sold millions of records around the world and recently released A Perfect Circle’s fourth album, ‘Eat the Elephant’, their first in 14 years, which debuted at number four in the US Billboard Top 100.
