Mexico's Excellion stream new EP "Unsean" ahead of release‏

Mexican metal quartet, Excellion, stream their new, fourth EP titled Unsean ahead of its release which is set for August 6th.

Speaking about the level of creativity the new EP reaches compared with the previous efforts, bassist and backing vocalist Adrian Vilbel commented:

“On ‘Unsean' you can find this maturity in the sound that is very unique actually, all instruments converge in a way that it just was’t in our previous releases, that’s why this new material it’s really a breakthrough for us.

“We were trying to express ourselves in the way we felt at the moment when we moved to Mexico City, it was a moment to adapt and learn a new way to live, so we felt the urgency to write some riffs and melodies that made people feel those expressions, that’s how the whole concept came to mind,” he continues.

Unsean is the fourth EP release the band put out to date, and it was originally planned to be a full-length release, but Excellion decided to split it in two shorter releases. Vilbel also talked about the reasons behind that decision.

“Nowadays it’s kind of hard that a person listen to a full album from the beginning to the end. There would be a lot to digest and they just don’t want that, at least a lot of people, so yeah, ‘Unsean’ was actually a full-length, but we wanted people to give the same weight to every song and not just one or two. We wanted to write songs with high quality too and not just fillers so we decided to make this release in two parts. This is part one and you can expect part two some time around 2017. This way people can sit and listen the whole EP and it’ll be easy to digest too.”

Unsean is out on August 6. Listen to the EP in its entirety through a YouTube stream. The EP is available from iTunes and Google Play.

The band chose to record Chains Of Solitude themselves in their own studio. This way they had the luxury of trial and error, and could take time for the recordings. The mixing and mastering was done by Jochem Jacobs at Split Second Sound in Holland. "We really liked his work and sound for Textures, Crimson Falls, Scarred, ... Iceland's Momentum unveil video for track taken from new album

5/7/2016

With two successful releases to their name, Iceland's Momentum are hard at work on their next full-length album, which will once again appear on Dark Essence Records, at a date as yet to be specified. Whilst work is continuing apace, the band have been able to reveal "Dire Host", a new track from the album, via a video which was filmed in the studio. The video can be seen below

"Dire Host" was recorded in June in Hveragerði, a small town about a half hour drive from Reykjavík,  and the new album marks the first time that Momentum will be working in the studio with Friðrik Helgason. As to what fans should expect from the album, "Dire Host" gives a pretty good idea according to the band who had this to say: “The songwriting process for a new album is going very well and we are really enjoying the direction in which we are heading. It has been, and continues to be, a new learning curve for the band to keep the music to just the three of us, but it would seem that we thrive on challenging ourselves with something different every time.

"We wanted to go and record a proper example of what the band is doing today and we feel that 'Dire Host' captures that quite well. If you happen to be at Eistnaflug festival next week you will be able to see this live as well as a lot more of the new material, including a special treat that we've been working very hard on this past month”.

Momentum, whose line-up comprises Kristján on Drums, Holaf on Vocals and Bass, and Ingvar on Guitar and Vocals, is set appear not once, but twice at the Eistnaflug Festival in Iceland in July. Their first appearance will be on the Boli stage on Wednesday 6th at 17:50, whilst on Friday the 8th they hit the Brennivin stage at 22:20 for what will be a special show.

Iceland's Kontinuum sign to Season of Mist‏

Season Of Mist are proud to announce the signing of Kontinuum. The Icelandic-wave influenced ambient rockers will release their next full-length on this label.

Regarding their signing, Kontinuum confessed that they: "are very pleased to announce our signing with Season of Mist. To us it is important to work with people that we connect with. People that relate to our creative output and vision. This is why we look forward to our future cooperation with Season of Mist."

Kontinuum were conceived with the aim to create hypnotic and spiritual musical noise in Reykjavik, Iceland in the year 2010.

After sending demo tracks of their debut album 'Earth Blood Magic' to a few labels, a first deal was quickly struck. Kontinuum wasted no time and entered Sigur Rós' Sundlaugin Studio in the Icelandic town Mosfellsbær in order to begin record their first full length, which was released in 2012.

'Earth Blood Magic' received rave reviews across the board and was voted rock album of the year in Morgunblaðið, Iceland.

The band played numerous shows in 2013 and established a reputation as a powerful live band.

Kontinuum started working on their sophomore album in 2014. A first single titled "I Huldusal" was released the same year and received substantial radio play in Iceland, while even topping the charts of the island's largest alternative rock radio station.

'Kyrr' hit the stores in April 2015 alongside the brand new single "Breathe". Following the release of their second album, Kontinuum embarked on two tours in Germany and performed at several festivals including the prestigious Roadburn Festival (Netherlands), Eurosonic Festival (Netherlands), Icelandic Airwaves and Eistnaflug Festival at home, and Lithuania's Devilstone Festival.
