Irish death metal mavericks Malthusian stream the entirety of their highly anticipated debut album, Across Deaths, at Decibel magazine's website. Set for international release on September 28th - Dark Descent will handle the album's North American release, while Invictus Productions will handle the rest of the world - hear Malthusian's Across Deaths in its entirety exclusively HERE. Since their fateful first demo, MMXIII, in 2013, Malthusian have been a study in strident refinement and maverick poise. No move is ever out of place, nor any possibility unexplored; chaos may be waiting in the wings, but it is resisted and never fully/remotely sought. The hydra-headed quartet started on enviably firm footing from the very beginning - trace elements of bestial black metal, morbid death metal, and languorous doom, all mangled and minced with poetic ease - but what sprouted from that first demo and especially the subsequent Below the Hengiform EP two years later was something extraordinary indeed. This was black/death/doom ART taken to hallucinatory extremes...and Malthusian were only just beginning. True, Across Deaths will be a "beginning" for many listeners otherwise new to Malthusian, but for those already well versed in the band's vortextural musings, the album-length format opens their world even wider. Peer inside and the visions of bottomless doom are writ large; obscene forms writhe and resist, each psychological tendril twisting to ever-beckoning infinity. That Malthusian can harness these sensations should be no surprise - both short-length predecessors seemed massive at the time (and still are) - but the sheer fact (not to mention the sheer audacity) that a band can so effortlessly take angular, largely atonal DEATH METAL and make it a seemingly cinematic experience should compel naysayers to finally investigate this malodorous of artforms. Naturally, for however adventurous their visions continue to be, Malthusian above all believe in the alternately damning/redemptive powers of heavy metal: diversity of expression comes from within, not without. Further verbiage is simply wasted - the experience is all. No time like the present, then, to travel Across Deaths with Malthusian. Spanish Melodic Death Metal band Aeolian premieres Silent Witness album in full, released on September 12th by Snow Wave Records: https://youtu.be/O9NJtmgflx4 From the sunny island of Mallorca, Spain, this environmentally oriented melodic death metal group are releasing their debut album. Aeolian mix their blackened death metal with some death thrash and folk elements. Inspired by the beautiful nature on their home island, their lyrics address the fears of conserving natural diversity and the threat humans as a species pose to the habitat. The debut album Silent Witness has been produced by Miguel A. Riutort (The Unity,Cryptopsy, The Agonist, Hirax). The incredible cover artwork has been licensed from Kilian Eng (Concept artist for Disney, HBO, Marvel, Red Bull, Sony, The New York Times etc.) The name Silent Witness takes its meaning from how nature cannot speak for itself. Every song on this album has been written from the point of view of nature. Line-up: Vocals - Daniel Perez Guitars - Raúl Morán Guitars - Gabi Escalas Bass - Toni Mainez Drums - Alberto Barrientos http://www.aeolianband.com/ https://www.facebook.com/aeolianmetalband https://www.snow-wave-records.com Ukrainian Black / Death trio Goat Sperm stream Inferna Profundus debut EP at NoCleanSinging.com7/9/2018 Black / Death upstarts Goat Sperm stream the entirety of their striking debut EP, Voice in the Womb, at heavily trafficked web-portal NoCleanSinging.com. Set for international release on September 10th via Inferna Profundus Records, hear the entirety of Goat Sperm's Voice in the Womb exclusively HERE. Hailing from Ukraine, Goat Sperm are a shadowy power-trio who play orthodox black/death metal exclusively. Theirs is a world-eating sound drawing equal influence from the realms of sepulchral death and morbid black, billowing obsidian smoke and weaving an almost ceremonial aspect, all whilst maintaining an intensely martial surge. Unremittingly physical and yet suffused with an atmosphere that's paradoxically wide-open and chokingly claustrophobic, Voice in the Womb is aptly titled: within its three-song/19-minute foundation lay myriad catacombs to get lost amongst, deeper mysteries at each turn to unravel. Witness the fullness of Goat Sperm's coming, and hereby obey the Voice in the Womb. Shower yourself in their glory with the EP's full length exclusively HERE, courtesy of NoCleanSinging.com.

Set for international release on August 31st via Blood Harvest Records and Helter Skelter Productions, hear Maligner's Attraction to Annihilation in its entirety exclusively HERE. One of the most promising hordes Blood Harvest have come across in some time, Maligner are a deathrashing power-trio hailing from the label's home-town of Malmö, Sweden. To date, Maligner have a two-song digital promo released during the autumn of 2016 and then, a few months later, the five-song Demon EP, which Blood Harvest released on cassette tape and digital formats. Bolstered by the attention afforded Demon, the trio truly come into their own on Attraction to Annihilation. For a debut album, Attraction to Annihilation is as fully formed as they come. Maligner may be only entering their third year of existence, but the attention to craft and class across this eight-song firestorm is seriously the work of veterans - but, of course, ones not yet complacent with their ideas and especially execution. Right from the very first notes of opener "Oath-bound," Maligner explode with a dazzling array of fleet-footed 'n' finesse death metal in a most late '80s mould, back when actual songwriting mattered most and bands like Death, Sadus, and Dark Angel ruled the underground. Indeed, even nomenclature like "deathrash" didn't really exist; it was simply all METAL, just darker and more deathly than what the aboveground was proffering. But, Maligner are no mere retro retread: their compositional prowess is in a league of its own, and their attention to the finer details of aggression bespeaks a maturity that thankfully isn't neutering. In fact, the longer this 31-minute maelstrom rolls on, the more dizzying it becomes, possessing both body and spirit in a grand celebration of destruction and death. Try as you may, there's just no denying Maligner's Attraction to Annihilation! Stream it in its entirety exclusively HERE, courtesy of NoCleanSinging.com. Set for international release on August 11th via Living Temple Records, hear Pyreficativm's संसार का पथ in its entirety exclusively HERE. An mesmerizingly vast and deliriously dense work, Pyreficativm's संसार का पथ plunges the listener deeply into the Beyond - and then beyond even that. Totalling nine tracks in 76 time-evaporating minutes, this is black metal at its most ceremonial, stripped of ornamental excess yet suffused with a supernatural essence, of ritualism begetting transcendence, of sound utilized as a living weapon born of blood and steel, fire and brimstone. For those who dwell within the depths of the underground and heard Pyreficativm's two earlier demos, where the rawness was almost otherworldly, संसार का पथ casts the aesthetic of sole visionary Melek R. N. in a starker, more focused light, bringing forth a clarity that sacrifices none of the swirling sting on which he originally made his name. Here, the stretched-to-infinity canvas on which he paints is brushed with bold strokes, invoking a fever-dreaming sense of wonder and mania, as nebulous fog and vibrations from the abyss swirl into recognition to create an austere construction that ensnares the listener's very subconscious. It is very easy to get literally lost in Pyreficativm's संसार का पथ , but the question remains: why would you want to return? A statement from Melek R. N. reads: "I raise front of the great mysteries greater, spirits of the life and death. On this sacred night of blood together to you oneiric veil, the key to the eternal dream of the Dragon I invoke you... This intricate work within this temple crowned Pyreficativm, संसार का पथ is a vehicle and ritualistic vessel. To express the sacred words and prayers of the ancient mysteries... the hidden faculty of the intellectual Man in this Era of iron, lets you embraces the true skin of the mystical arts. Dreaming freely through the intricate labyrinth of the consciousness. Experience exalted in the higher planes and sacred cosmic notes are the real material to examine various atavistic passages of this science and art. Through this new manifestation, this temple crowned with the internal fire of Man, speak directly to the inner void, a supra-mundane states, the connections between the Eastern esotericism and the Al-chemy of the higher. Exposes intricate examinations within the Gnostisism and Eastern esotericism. Amrita 181."

Set for international release on August 3rd via Hells Headbangers, hear Mongrel's Cross's Psalter of the Royal Dragon Court in its entirety exclusively HERE. Hailing from the extreme metal hotbed of Australia, Mongrel's Cross are one of the best-kept secrets Down Under. Mind you, the band - now pared down to a duo - have been quiet since the release of their Hells Headbangers debut album, The Sins of Aquarius, in 2012, but those years away from the prying eyes of the metal public have paid off in spades on Psalter of the Royal Dragon Court. Here, these hooligans take everything that made The Sins of Aquarius so grimly gratifying - the widescreen span of filthy thrashing, down-tempo war-marches, and epic metal grandeur alike - and render it all the more terrifying and triumphant through clear 'n' cutting production. It's the age-old axis of form meeting content, and rarely has a metal record this cleanly produced sounded so threatening, which simply underlines the powerful panache to the band's strong songwriting. Taken another way, with Psalter of the Royal Dragon Court, Mongrel's Cross step deeper into territory that's entirely their own. Not for them the over-generalization of "Australia = war metal" nor the simplistic connotations associated with such; no, the duo are at the height of their compositional powers and are now truly a great extreme METAL entity. All the drama and danger, legendary and lawlessness, power and poison, and essential OTT abandon of this art-form otherwise known as heavy metal: everything is played out with a palpably physical poetry across Psalter of the Royal Dragon. Suitably, its lyrical themes range a rich panoply of occultism - among others, such titles as "Vessel of Shar On," "Neurian Transformation," and "Derkesthai - Initiation (to see clearly)" should suggest plenty - making this a thoroughly engrossing experience deserving of the band's elevated standards. When so much metal aims so low, for such no-hope ghettoization, it's down to true mavericks like Mongrel's Cross to lead the intrepid to illumination. Stream Gravewards' Ruinous Ensoulment decibelmagazine.com/2018/07/23/full-album-stream-gravewards-ruinous-ensoulment/ Gravewards will release Ruinous Ensoulment July 27 through Unspeakable Axe Records (available through international distribution channels on August 31). Pre-orders are available at this location. Appearing almost completely from thin air, Greek death metallers Gravewards made a small but intense impression with their 2017 demo Subconscious Lobotomy. That independently-released 4-track tape was the kind of death metal too rarely heard in recent years, having the spirit of the original bands but not married to any particular influence or scene. Rather than emulating an album or style they loved, Gravewards paid some homage to the sounds of the 1990s while finding their own way forward. Now their debut full-length Ruinous Ensoulment is here, and it delivers thoroughly on the promise and the mission statement of their demo. Seven bludgeoning tracks and one intro deep, this album has the band reaching a very early peak in their young career. Songs are technical without descending into wankery, often utilizing the kind of backward, nightmare-logic riffs that initially separated death metal from thrash, but which many bands now have either discarded in favour of straightforward Slayerisms or pushed to an incomprehensible extreme. Gravewards finds fertile ground in between, delivering one line after another that is somehow incredibly catchy but also very unique. These passages often give way to either groovy mid-tempo parts or bursts of full-on melody, without ever becoming saccharine - again, a degree of good taste is shown that is too rare in a genre where bands like to find what works and then double or triple down on it. Over these well-developed compositions, vocals are less growls than the shouts of a crazed demon choking on the blood of its enemies. Nothing about Ruinous Ensoulment is rote or easily expected; instead Gravewards marks out their own territory with the creativity and fearlessness that was more prevalent when the genre was still new. www.facebook.com/Gravewards/ http://unspeakableaxerecords.com unspeakableaxerecords.bandcamp.com/ www.facebook.com/unspeakableaxerecords https://twitter.com/UARMetal Missouri thrash band Degrave have teamed up with No Clean Singing to stream the entirety of their new Self-Titled album. Set for international release on July 27th via Hells Headbangers, hear Invocation Spells' Spread Cruelty in the Abyss in its entirety exclusively HERE. There's simply no stopping Invocation Spells. One of the hottest bands in the shit-hot Chilean black/death scene, this diabolical duo continues to unleash one punishing slab of filth 'n' fury after another, each one more concise and crushing than the next. Spread Cruelty in the Abyss follows hot on the heels of the critically acclaimed The Flame of Hate, released internationally last year by Hells Headbangers. Like that predecessor, Spread Cruelty in the Abyss wastes absolutely no time in igniting a sulphurous conflagration from the first few notes...except this time, it's more quickly apparent how daresay catchy Invocation Spells have become. Lest anyone accuse the band of softening or selling out, be aware that Spread Cruelty in the Abyssis simply and 100% Invocation Spells through and through: no compromise, and no quarter. Like The Flame of Hate before it and Descendent the Black Throne before that, Spreads Cruelty in the Abyss possesses a special magic that eludes easy "blackthrash" categorization - namely, through an acute balance between the bestial and more classically speed metal tropes - but the molten, even martial pulse the duo develop further here turns these more deliberately hypnotic spells of possession into veritable anthems of minimalism, spilling poison and black blood in equal measure, and even more endlessly headbanging than before. And with this unselfconscious, even-more-pronounced emphasis on "catchiness" comes an even swifter and stricter sense of economy: Spread Cruelty in the Abyss clangs 'n' bangs with absolute authority in a mere 26 minutes. Get in, get out, get fucked. And just like they have with their songwriting nous, Invocation Spells have all about perfected their production style, once again locating that ever-so-sweet middle-ground between fuck-off raw and clear/cutting, with each incensed-yet-impassioned note ringing out through the humid haze before mangling the mind with quintessentially Chilean diabolism. This summer's gonna be a hot one, then, so no better time to Spread Cruelty in the Abyss! Hear all of it for yourself exclusively HERE, courtesy of CVLTNation.com. Pre-order info can be found HERE at Hells Headbangers' Bandcamp. www.facebook.com/InvocationSpells www.hellsheadbangers.com www.facebook.com/hellsheadbangers Portuguese black metal titans Black Howling stream the entirety of their highly anticipated sixth album, Return of Primordial Stillness, at heavily trafficked web-portal IndyMetalVault.com. Set for international release on July 27th via Signal Rex, hear Black Howling's Return of Primordial Stillness in its entirety exclusively HERE. One of the oldest and most prolific bands in the Portuguese black metal underground, Black Howling have built up a staggering body of work of unparalleled anguish and misery. By no means strictly "depressive suicidal black metal," the duo's aesthetic often runs parallel to DSBM but fortunately evades all the usual cliches of such. More importantly, Black Howling's commitment to an unapologetically raw sound-field yet suffusing that misery 'n' anguish with a remarkably accomplished melodicism has largely shaped the modern Portuguese black metal paradigm that has received so much international fervour in recent years. Now, after three years of silence, Black Howling return with Return of Primordial Stillness, a compact-yet-massive distillation of their enduring aesthetic. Comprising four tracks in an epic 40 minutes, Return of Primordial Stillness indeed sounds primordial and indeed invokes a crypt-like stillness, but there's so much more going on here. The record is bookended by two mostly instrumental tracks, with the two central compositions - "Celestial Syntropy" and "Celestial Entropy," which are 14 minutes and 16 minutes, respectively - canvassing a wide sonic landscape, howling and desperate and yet strangely triumphant and even perversely soothing, such is their catharsis sought. However, this is all BLACK METAL through and through, undiluted and uncompromising; it's just that Black Howling possess a profound understanding of it and are thusly able to shape it in dazzling(ly malodorous) ways. Simply put, if you aren't mesmerized by the conjuring's contained within, then perhaps black metal isn't for you... Though their output has slowed in recent years, each Black Howling recording is a stained treasure unto itself. When their next recording shall reveal itself, no one knows but then, but hereby witness their Return of Primordial Stillness...all of which can be heard exclusively HERE, courtesy of IndyMetalVault.com.
