February 2016; Enter Shikari head out on a tour of the UK, taking in some of the biggest venues they have ever headlined in their decade-long career. In the DIY fashion that the band have become synonymous with, the video screen content and programming for the front of house quadrophonic audio system has all been created and slaved over for months by the band themselves. Wary of the potential disaster / glorious victory that lies ahead, but never ones to shy away from lifting the curtain to show the inner-workings of their endeavours, the band consider it a wise move to ensure someone is on hand to capture it all on video. Enter Shikari met photographer / videographer Alexey Makhov on one of their now regular trips to Russia; so when he mentioned his availability prior to the tour, it struck everyone as a no-brainer. The resulting 30 minute mini-documentary mixes beautifully shot & edited live footage, behind the scenes access, and candid interviews with the band; following them from the tour’s production rehearsals right through to its conclusion at a sold out show at London’s 9000 capacity Alexandra Palace. Frontman Rou Reynolds had this to say on the subject “It was great to have Alexy along to document the biggest tour of our lives. He captured both the tension behind the scenes and the emotional release on stage perfectly! " A full audio recording of the Alexandra Palace show, however, DOES exist, and has now been mixed and mastered. Details of what will be happening with that will be forthcoming shortly. Enter Shikari have a small number of European festival dates remaining this summer, along with an outdoor headline show at Budapest’s Barba Nagra Track, before heading to Japan and finally rounding off their live 2016 with a short Australian run. The Dutch symphonic metal stars EPICA are ready to release the second studio trailer for their upcoming masterpiece The Holographic Principle. In this new clip, the band shows its work and experimentation with many new instruments and how it affected the depth and diversity of their new sound: https://youtu.be/HzqHyRu1oSc "Recording this album felt like being a kid in a candystore", states Keyboarder Coen Janssen. "Never before have we used more live-instruments. Recording them ourselves and hearing the music come 'alive' like that is an indescribable feeling! I'm sure these efforts make this album our best yet!" Now, the group proudly presents the album’s first official music video for its gripping title track 'Delirium' which was directed by Michael Winkler (iconographic). Cristina Scabbia states: "We filmed our parts for this video in one evening while we were on the US tour this past May. We used a Go-Pro against a black backdrop and we wanted something that would be purposely rough, something that could remind some weird lost videos found after years and years. The whole video edited together with the parts filmed by the director with an actress turned out as a very strange sort of a trip, where a girl tries to tight up memories and details together to try to find her sanity back, somehow. I really like some of the scenes as they reminded me some kind of Korean horror movies vibe and it is totally fitting the ‘Delirium' vibe and concept. It also leaves a lot to the imagination, so thanks for checking it out and enjoy." The official video for first single "Discrowned," featuring vocals by Soilwork's Björn "Speed" Strid, can be viewed at here. Brilliant melodies combine with the aggression of Death Metal throughout "Face of Balaam", yet that description doesn't quite do justice to the range of styles influencing the sound of Xaon. Consider the contributions of legendary acts like Anathema, Type O Negative, My Dying Bride, Soilwork, Demonical, Ulver, and even Finnish act Disgrace's early-to-mid 90s output, and you'll get the picture. Face of Balaam was produced and arranged by band members Vinc and Flo, recorded between June and August 2015, mixed and mastered by Julian at Parallel Focus Studios. Vocals engineered by Rob Carson at Carsonian Sound Solutions. All vocals, except "Discrowned," by were performed by Franco-American singer Rob Carson. Samples on "How we become Ephemeral Birds" and "Discrowned" by J.-P. Lana. The album artwork was created by Californian artist and painter Erik Burton Kirchner. In other news, Xaon be touring Europe with Sirenia, Tyr, Unleash The Archers, and Relicseed in November. Front-man Helmuth states: "We've just finished the fourth rehearsal session. The process consisted of 13 exhausting, creative days in a row. Nine compositions took form and already sound massive. It's important to me that we get better, tighter, raise the dynamics, and have each musician develop his skills with his instruments to bring our sound to the next level. We've always done our own thing and continue to do so." "Live ceremonies are still the essence of Belphegor, touring worldwide is our main priority after writing and releasing new music for our loyal supporters. The new, currently untitled album will be our most obscure and brutal one. It's the first time we've tuned our guitars to H5 and #A6, which is really low, and will add a new touch to our sound. Release date will be in April 2017! We're forever on fire and ready for new challenges. Progress is experimentation and improvement. An honour - this horror." Check out this exclusive clip of Belphegor playing 'Totenkult - Exegesis Of Deterioration' recorded live inside their "rehearsal bunker". This scorching death/black metal track will be included on the upcoming album scheduled for an April 2017 release. Crank it to the max and go to hell with them: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SMT9xxBpFK4 Belphegor are playing several European festivals this summer, followed by some US dates across the autumn. They’ll be returning to the UK later in late 2016 / early 2017. www.belphegor.at www.facebook.com/belphegor Vienna based modern metal band Veil of Deception has just released 4 (FOUR!) videoclips! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8dd6uNE6qSg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qDnIRlaiWNs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UDYdjLEou1Q https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YuLIV_x7SDs Call it modern metal, stoner / groove / thrash…, it doesn’t make a difference.
