Chilean ultra-cult Invocation Spells premiere the new track "Torment of Obsessor" at IndyMetalVault.com. The track hails from the band's highly anticipated fourth album, Spread Cruelty in the Abyss, set for international release on July 27th via Hells Headbangers. Hear Invocation Spells' "Torment of Obsessor" in its entirety exclusively HERE. There's simply no stopping Invocation Spells. One of the hottest bands in the shit-hot Chilean black/death scene, this diabolical duo continues to unleash one punishing slab of filth 'n' fury after another, each one more concise and crushing than the next. Spread Cruelty in the Abyss follows hot on the heels of the critically acclaimed The Flame of Hate, released internationally last year by Hells Headbangers. Like that predecessor, Spread Cruelty in the Abyss wastes absolutely no time in igniting a sulfurous conflagration from the first few notes...except this time, it's more quickly apparent how daresay catchy Invocation Spells have become. Lest anyone accuse the band of softening or selling out, be aware that Spread Cruelty in the Abyssis simply and 100% Invocation Spells through and through: no compromise, and no quarter. Like The Flame of Hate before it and Descendent the Black Throne before that, Spreads Cruelty in the Abyss possesses a special magick that eludes easy "blackthrash" categorization - namely, through an acute balance between the bestial and more classically speed metal tropes - but the molten, even martial pulse the duo develop further here turns these more deliberately hypnotic spells of possession into veritable anthems of minimalism, spilling poison and black blood in equal measure, and even more endlessly headbanging than before. And with this unselfconscious, even-more-pronounced emphasis on "catchiness" comes an even swifter and stricter sense of economy: Spread Cruelty in the Abyss clangs 'n' bangs with absolute authority in a mere 26 minutes. Get in, get out, get fucked. And just like they have with their songwriting nous, Invocation Spells have all about perfected their production style, once again locating that ever-so-sweet middle-ground between fuck-off raw and clear/cutting, with each incensed-yet-impassioned note ringing out through the humid haze before mangling the mind with quintessentially Chilean diabolism. And now, North America will be able to witness that diabolism in the flesh, as Invocation Spells will be heading out on an 11-date tour alongside fellow Hells Headbangers speed metallers Outline; the CD and tape versions of Spread Cruelty in the Abyss will be available for early sale during the tour (dates after the jump). This summer's gonna be a hot one, then, so no better time to Spread Cruelty in the Abyss! Hear for yourself with the new track "Torment of Obsessor" exclusively HERE, courtesy of IndyMetalVault.com. Also hear the album's previously revealed opening track, "Ruins of Cemetery," HERE at Hells Headbangers' Bandcamp, where the album can be preordered. www.facebook.com/InvocationSpells www.hellsheadbangers.com www.facebook.com/hellsheadbangers

Iron Bonehead Productions has set September 17th as the international for a brand-new 7" EP from Chile's Invocation, The Mastery of the Unseen. Aptly titled, The Mastery of the Unseen shows the strides this power-trio have been making since their debut CDR in 2016 and the extremely promising Seance Part. I demo released later that year. Exhibiting the same sulphurous energy as the first works but now displaying a uniquely feral poise, the rich 'n' roiling blackened death Invocation unfurl across the two tracks of The Mastery of the Unseen evokes that classic South American diabolism whilst grounding it in a deeply occult aspect. Comparisons to close comrades Slaughtbbath and Atomicide and even Unaussprechlichen Kulten can be made, but the hysteria-unto-possession Invocation invoke points the way forward for further mastery. Offer fealty early and witness The Mastery of the Unseen... In the meantime, hear the new track "Ouija (Mystifying Oracle)" HERE at Iron Bonehead's Soundcloud. www.facebook.com/invocationtemple www.facebook.com/IronBoneheadProductions Chilean Thrashers Hellish have joined forces with Indy Metal Vault for the premiere of "The Screams Come from Inside," a track from forthcoming Unspeakable Axe Records album The Spectre of Lonely Souls. Stream the song and check out an interview with the band at this location. Hellishwill release sophomore album The Spectre of Lonely Souls July 27 on Unspeakable Axe Records (the album will be available through international distribution channels on August 31). Many continents can lay claim to being formative breeding grounds for various pieces of the extreme metal puzzle, but perhaps none were such a melting pot as South America in the 1980s. Bands in Brazil, Chile, and other countries pushed thrash metal to its limits until it blurred into what would later be known as black and death metal, and dressed the whole thing in extreme expressions of occultism and hellfire. With that bed of influence bubbling beneath them, modern-day thrashers Hellish make perfect sense: tightened and refined (but only barely), without diminishing any of the speed-freak tendencies or punkish intensity of their predecessors, and certainly no less devoted to the left hand path. Coming out of Santiago, Chile in the 2010s, Hellish previously made believers out of thrash fans worldwide with their Unspeakable Axe-released debut, Grimoire. Only two years later, the follow-up album manages to out-pace and out-riff what came before. Classic speed metal-style riffs cut through an atmosphere of evil worthy of Bathory or Possessed - this is formative stuff, once again splashing around in the dark murk between thrash and black metal, and even straight-up heavy metal in the occasional, surprisingly melodic lead parts. But make no mistake: Hellish worship at the twin altars of evil and velocity, and The Spectre of Lonely Souls is a sermon strictly for the already-converted. www.facebook.com/Hellishchile/ http://unspeakableaxerecords.com unspeakableaxerecords.bandcamp.com/ www.facebook.com/unspeakableaxerecords https://twitter.com/UARMetal Chile's Hellish to release 'The Spectre of Lonely Souls' July 27th via Unspeakable Axe Records13/6/2018 Chilean Thrashers Hellish will release sophomore album The Spectre of Lonely Souls July 27 on Unspeakable Axe Records (the album will be available through international distribution channels on August 31). Set for international release on March 2nd via Iron Bonehead Productions for the vinyl LP format, hear Disembowel's Plagues and Ancient Rites in its entirety exclusively HERE. Hailing from the cult-metal hotbed of Chile, Disembowel are very much a summation of their homeland's ancient death metal and black metal traditions. That much was violently portrayed across their Act of Invocation MCD released in early 2017 by Iron Bonehead - gnarly, ghastly, grinding, gross - but here on their full-length debut, the power-trio extend further all the extremes which made that EP such a sulphurous blast. Draped in an ominous cloud of utter doom, Plagues and Ancient Rites soon approximates its very title: scabrous and hysteric energy coursing the pitch-blackest of metals, foul and fetid textures from death metal's deepest sewers, and a subtly ceremonial, spell-like seamlessness uniting the two. Its nine tracks compactly exude all the diabolism and devilishness for which Chilean black/death is known, and after 35 minutes, Disembowel emerge as the true Lovecraftian horrors that they are. Chilean black/death cult Communion set January 26th, 2018 as the international release date for TWO albums to released simultaneously: their debut album, At the Announcement, to be released by the Sinister Flame but with distribution by Hells Headbangers; and the band's second album, The Communion, to be released exclusively by Hells Headbangers. Both albums shall be released on CD, vinyl LP, and cassette tape formats. One of the most cult bands in the shit-hot South American black/death scene, for nearly a decade now, Communion have been cultivating a mystique and work ethic like no other. Staunchly DIY and largely rejecting the gross machinations of the European "metal" industry, Communion have built up a sparse yet strangely vast body of work comprising myriad short-length releases - sometimes, true "singles" in that the release will feature only one track - that are either self-released or released through vocalist/bassist Deathmessiah's Proselytism label, which has become ground zero for the very best in nowadays South American black/death. Despite their often-short run-times, each Communion release is its own special world, ranging the rich history of South American metal, from its blackest, most sulphurous depths to its most traditional, headbanging heights. That one band can encompass a relatively expansive swath of sounds whilst remaining uniquely rigid and focused in their attack has endeared the band to legions the world over, all of whom await each Communion release with bated breath and cherish it as a true artefact. Recorded with an expanded four-piece line-up (lead guitarist Spirit of the Tyrant then left the band but shall return for LP#3), At the Announcement is the grand culmination of the classic Communion archetype firmly established during the EP/demo era. Here, you shall find their WITCHING METAL in its rawest and wildest state, rearranging their unapologetic influences - Venom, Sodom, Sarcofago, Samael, Slayer, Mayhem, Treblinka, Agressor (France), Pentagram (Chile), Mortem (Perú) - into a swirling, cacophonous cauldron that sounds quite like none of them but only as Communion. All the stink of the dungeon, all the sulphur of the ritual lair, all the moss and mildew of realms long forgotten, the diabolism and debauchery and decadence of ancient devil worship: they are all laid bare across At the Announcement. Within its quick-hitting runtime of 28 minutes, Communion explode with a fury like no other, bewitched into being and utterly possessed by each of these 11 conjuring's. And yet, for however overwhelming all this fury may get, ghastly and gibbering and forever in thrall, there's an acutely clear-headed vision at play At the Announcement; Communion are certainly no strangers to the studio nor the stage, where their performances in legendary regard. Whereas At the Announcement serves as the definitive debut album - that is, the culmination of all that's come before in the Communion canon - then The Communion is the fever-dreaming intensification of those wild hinterlands within the band's signature sound. Totalling nine tracks in a concise yet continually exciting 33 minutes, The Communion works mostly as one massive piece, firing off one diabolic angle after another that's simply engrossing (and often overwhelming, favourably) in its devilish intensity. With the poise and patience of a true power-trio, Communion build each component track with the delicate-yet-confident hand of sonic sorcerers, conjuring a clandestine mood that soon explodes into gibbering, ghastly mania. And yet, for however white-hot and forever-throttling that intensity gets, just teasing the very corners of chaos, Communion reign it all in with a mastery rarely seen in black/death metal - and, daresay, a touch of class. For above all, this is HEAVY METAL, deathly dedicated to the occult and supernatural energies of the beyond. Not for nothing are the band absolutely hypnotic live, weaving their spells and entrancing throngs of diehards baying for blood on every stage Communion stand. Pre-order info for At the Announcement can be found HERE at Hells Headbangers' Bandcamp, where the previously revealed track "Secret Rites" can also be heard. Pre-order info for The Communion can be found HERE, also at Hells Headbangers' Bandcamp, where the previously revealed track "Witching Thrust" can also be heard.
Heavy metal cult Lucifer's Hammer stream the entirety of their highly anticipated new mini-album, Victory is Mine, at Decibel magazine's website. Shadow Kingdom Records shall be releasing it on November 24th for the CD and cassette tape formats, while the 12" vinyl version shall be released on December 29th. Hear Lucifer's Hammer's Victory is Mine in its entirety exclusively HERE. Aptly titled, Victory is Mine follows soon after the widespread critical acclaim afforded last year's Beyond the Omens debut full-length, further proving that this Chilean heavy metal force simply cannot be stopped! But here, on Victory is Mine, Lucifer's Hammer show more sides to their enviable arsenal and go down a darker path. Where Beyond the Omens burst forth with a brightness that could've come from radio metal circa 1984, Victory is Mine explodes with an immediacy that's moodier and more epic. Still well within the realm of classic, post-NWOBHM heavy metal, here Lucifer's Hammer deliver four winding epics that alternately pulse with steely passion and drift like lingering fog. Whereas Beyond the Omens could very well be their "party" record, Victory is Mine is more like the party's aftermath - and Lucifer's Hammer is guiding the revellers to the grave. But despite a subtly pronounced profusion of doom, Victory is Mine nevertheless retains the addicting energy for which the band became so beloved on their demo and debut album. For heavy metal is an eternal fight, and Victory is Mine! Engage in that eternal fight in its entirety exclusively HERE, courtesy of Decibel, North America's only monthly metal magazine. Pre-order info for all three formats can be found HERE at Shadow Kingdom's Bandcamp. |
