Icelandic tech death outfit Ophidian I are proud to announce their 'Rock Album Of The Year' nomination at the Icelandic Music Awards (Íslensku Tónlistarverðlaunin)! The band's latest release 'Desolate' has been selected among other releases from artists like The Vintage Caravan and Monotown. A full list of nominations can be found HERE. Ophidian I commented on the nomination: "This nomination is a huge deal for us. A milestone for the band, ourselves and extreme metal in general. While we certainly poured enough into this album to feel a nomination would be warranted, it didn’t really feel like something that’d actually come to fruition - making this almost surreal but in the absolute best way. We are very honoured, thankful and proud to be harvesting all the hard work that we and our amazing team have brought to this release. But most of all, thank you so much to all of you whom have been spinning the album and spreading the word since it came out. TAKK FYRIR!" Line-up

Band links: Official Website | Facebook | Youtube | Instagram | On Sliptrick Italian progressive death metal legends Sadist (ft. Obscura's Jeroen Paul Thesseling and ex-Necrophagist's Romain Goulon) reveal a bunch of fresh details surrounding the upcoming new album "Firescorched," including cover artwork, track-listing and release date. "Firescorched" will be released via the band's new label home Agonia Records on May 20th, 2022. A new digital single titled "Finger Food" is planned to be revealed on February 18th, alongside a list of available album formats. Pre-orders are scheduled to be open at the same time. "Firescorched" is the fastest, highly experimental and most extreme album of Sadist's career. The songs are fresh, embrace blast beats and give away a horror vibe, in combination with gloomy and anguished lyrics. The band's adventurous style, featuring jazz and Middle-Eastern influences, pierces through a veil of progressive death metal that cloaks nine new compositions (eleven, if counting two bonus songs). The album was recorded, mixed and mastered by Tommy Talamanca at Nadir Music Studios in Genoa (Italy) with artwork design by Paolo Puppo. Talamanca comments on the album:- "Firescorched can be described as Sadist 2.0. It's not a real concept album in the classical meaning of the word, despite the fact that most of the lyrics are somehow connected. Some of them are real horror stories, and the whole album sounds really creepy. We all love the cover artwork, which adds to that feeling." Sadist started out in the early nineties, having emerged from Genoa in Italy. The band went ahead of its time, with an adventurous take on the then-developing progressive death metal subgenre. Its presence was firmly established through an unmistakable style, detectable since the debut instalment "Above The Light" from 1993, as well as following albums: "Tribe" (1995) and "Crust" (1997). After the release of "Lego" (2000), which brought about a temporary shift towards the avant-garde / core spectrum of the genre, Sadist went on a hiatus. The band returned to its proven sonic formula in 2005, having put out four studio albums since, and continues to maintain its epic take on death metal, featuring jazz and Middle-Eastern elements. Sadist played before huge crowds as a support act and opener for such iconic bands as Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Slayer or Motorhead, guesting at Olympic stadiums and gaining exposure at high-profile metal festivals as Wacken Open Air (1998), Gods Of Metal (2006 & 2010) or Hellfest (2010). The most recent trek took place in 2019, when the band toured Europe with I Am Morbid, Vital Remains and Atrocity. Line-up:

Polish death metallers Catharsis have released the first music video from their latest album Human Failures released mid 2021 via Mad Lion Records. The aesthetics of the video reflects the band's fascinations with old black & white horror movies and was shot in the original ruins of the mausoleum nearby the palace in Sławików (Poland). Watch "Your Truth" HERE. The video was directed by Marcin Pawłowski, who is also the author of the script. Movie editing and digital processing was done by Endorfina Artmedia. Adam Mamok comments: "We are very pleased with the end result. This time it took us a long time to get the whole thing completed. The plot is divided into two parts. A story, which is a metaphore for the lyrics of "Your Truth" and shots of the band. I admit, that it was great fun for us and we discovered each other in new roles. The convention of an old movie from the 1930s adds to the dark atmosphere of this video.” https://www.facebook.com/catharsispl/ https://www.instagram.com/catharsis_official/ https://open.spotify.com/artist/4AqykaCLr6B4KHdOFSBDBN https://www.facebook.com/madlionrecords American blackened death crew Goreskincoffin unveil lyric video for "Elegy For Mankind's Failings"28/12/2021 Californian blackened death lords Goreskincoffin have launched a lyric video for, "Elegy for Mankind's Failings." At the peak of the pandemic lockdown last year, Behemoth set the world on fire when they took over an abandoned church in rural Poland, bringing their truly spectacular production for a worldwide streaming event, which was lauded by rock media as one of the very best livestream events to date. The live release is set to hit retailers on December 17th via Nuclear Blast. Now, we witness another incendiary excerpt of the show, their classic 2007 anthem, 'Prometherion'. Follow Behemoth into the old ruins of the hidden church by watching the clip below. Behemoth frontman and visionary Nergal tells us: "Legions! For some of you, 'The Apostasy' is the ultimate Behemoth experience. Here, we present to you a song from that record which we filmed during 'In Absentia Dei'. Enjoy it!" The Polish heretics also recently announced they are to headline Friday night at Bloodstock 2022. Grab your tickets at Bloodstock.uk.com 'In Absentia Dei' will be available as digital album, digi-book and 3LP Vinyl in various colours. The event was said to set the bar for streaming events moving forward, which was something Behemoth set out to achieve from the start. Produced by Grupa 13, 'In Absentia Dei' was presented as a show of four parts, woven with high-production theatrics and flames emanating from all parts of the formerly sacred building. Behemoth released their most recent studio album, 'I Loved You At Your Darkest' in 2018 to vast critical acclaim. The album marked a milestone in the history of the band, being not only their most successful to date, but also an audio-visual masterpiece: from its incredibly detailed, blasphemous artwork, to the highly vicious, yet deeply emotional tracks, Behemoth once again played with fire. igniting an inferno to burn the narrow minded bigotry of Christianity down to the ground. From their inauspicious origins within a very exotic metal music scene, Godless slowly rose to the very top of India’s death metal class. Interestingly, throughout this gradual but inexorable climb, the members of the band didn't distinguish themselves for bringing innovations to the genre so much as for their unapologetic commitment to pure, unadulterated, lightning-fast, ear-shredding, thrash-influenced death metal. Over time, Godless has proven themselves to be at the vanguard of the metal movement in the subcontinent, and with their debut LP, States Of Chaos, the band aims to propel their brand of death metal to more parts of the globe more than ever before. States Of Chaos sees Godless delivering eight intense and unfaltering tracks of their thrash-laced death metal which promise to pummel the listener into submission. Thematically, the album explores topics hinging on psychological trepidation and terror and phantasmagorias of dreamscapes that are sure to induce nightmares. The drums on States Of Chaos were recorded at Wind Horse Recording Studios, the guitars and bass recorded at Infinity Studios, and the vocals recorded at Hydrozoa HQ, with all recordings engineered by the band’s Abbas Razvi. Godless summoned the devastating sound of Poland’s Hertz Studio (Vader, Behemoth, Decapitated) to handle the mixing and mastering duties for the album, and the result is a uniquely vicious-sounding record that takes no prisoners. The album is completed with artwork and design by New Salem and photography by David Dawson. Vocalist Kaushal LS writes with the release of their latest single:- "'Fluxion' marks the first song that we’ve worked on with the new drummer. This song features some of the most incendiary and unhinged work on the upcoming full-length record. The song’s lyrics render visceral images of a seemingly bizarre transmutation; parallels could be drawn between the song’s lyrics and the album’s name itself." Godless will independently release States Of Chaos on CD, LP, and digital platforms on November 19th. Find pre-orders including merch/limited bundles where videos for “Netherworld,” the 360° lyric video for “Orbits Of Decay,” a guitar playthrough for "Orbits Of Decay," and more are playing HERE.
