Korpiklaani today announce their new studio album Jylhä, which will be released on February 5th via Nuclear Blast Records. Jylhä (which has no direct translation, but can be described as majestic and also wild or rugged in a strong, beautiful way) will be available as digital album, CD, black vinyl and grass green vinyl [limited to 300 pieces]. The pre-order will start soon.
In celebration of the happy news, the band has released a music video for the first single 'Leväluhta' today that you can watch here: https://youtu.be/DNzHB9hqiKU
Korpiklaani are unique - their blend of Finnish folk music and heavy metal is like no other. Like traditional folk music that tells tales of joy, heartbreak and stories of old, Korpiklaani brings new life to these tales adding the high energy of rock‘n'roll and heavy metal. What you hear on record is what you hear live; authentic, honest and a lot of fun. Korpiklaani is a natural representation of our journey in this life, bringing music and emotions that can have you dancing all night, to quiet moments of melancholy.
Jylhä continues this journey with a collection of tales of folklore, nature, celebration and three stories of murder, including the infamous Lake Bodom murders.
Singer Jonne states:-
"Jylhä is not just a battering heavy metal record, it's also our most volatile full-length album to date. For example, some of the new songs feature energetic punk rock influences and there are even some audible laid-back reggae-rhythms, like our first single, Leväluhta."
Leväluhta (or Levänluhta) is a spring in Isokyrö. The remains of approximately a hundred Iron Age bodies have been found buried there, and it remains unclear why the deceased were laid to rest in the spring. In the story, the narrator himself is one of the buried, floating in the lap of clear water beyond time and knowledge. The video tells us a fictional story about what may have happened in the mystical Leväluhta.
Film was shot at Kammi-Kylä (Nummijärvi) 2020.
Thanks to Erkki Kalliomäki, who built the amazing Kammi-Kylä, cheers to our talented actors Yrjänä and Mirja and special thanks to Mikko and Susanna Summa who provided our transport vehicle to location. Also thanks to Italo Moncada, Helmin Kortteeri, Artistiasu, Isobar Finland and Valofirma.
Ildaruni came to existence in 2016, emerging as a raging force from the depths of the Armenian underground metal scene. Solidifying a permanent line-up, the band was fully focused on more live performances and started recording the first demo, ''Towards Subterranean Realms'' which came to light on July, 2018 and met significant acclaim.
Musically, Ildaruni represents a blend of relentless, intense Black Metal and ancient folk melodies, forgotten from times immemorial. The lyrical themes explore the height of the Urartian domain, through the cognitive machinations of a bygone age and the esoteric apprehension of ancient pagan occultism. The ominous flame now burns stronger and the band is set to unleash its long-waited cryptic incantations.
“We are very excited to announce our new collaboration with Swedish Black Lion Records for the release of our forthcoming album. A new chapter has begun for Ildaruni. We are looking forward to seeing the darkest seeds of our manifestation realized! More information is yet to be revealed!”
Indian Folk Metallers Bloodywood release documentary video featuring live footage of their 2019 'Raj Against The Machine Tour'
After building a large online fan base with multiple viral videos, New Delhi based Indian Metal Band Bloodywood decided to take to the road in the summer of 2019 with their "Raj Against The Machine Tour", not only the band's first ever tour, but the first time they played live as a band. Bloodywood had no idea what to expect on their first ever tour but the response was far greater than they ever imagined selling out 12 shows on the 3 week tour, culminating in the band's set at WACKEN OPEN AIR.
Bloodywood further documented the tour through footage shot across a GoPro strapped to guitarist / flautist Karan Katiyar's chest, frenzied mobile phone footage shot by the audience and the band themselves, as well as world class footage shot at Wacken Open Air.
The documentary tells the story of how the band formed and their surreal Raj against the Machine tour. After an action packed opening sequence that captures the essence of the film within the span of a minute and a half, you witness the birth of Punjabi / dhol metal, its fusion with lyrically focused rap music, the natural progression into original compositions from covers and the solidification of a musical agenda that's hell bent on creating a positive impact on the planet.
After receiving an invitation to perform at the Mecca of heavy metal: The Wacken Open Air, the band sets out to answer a burning question: can an Indian folk metal band, an online sensation that's never performed live before cut it on the biggest stage of them all? You have to see it to believe it.
In preparation for the tour, the first time that two of the seven members had ever travelled abroad, Bloodywood spent around 200 hours preparing. Fans flew from Zurich, drove from Belgium, and biked from the Czech Republic to watch them perform in Germany and England; at one show, an Indian fan proposed to his German girlfriend with the help of the band in the middle of their set. In Germany, their midday set at the Wacken Open Air was packed to full capacity.; the audience was 15000 strong! Bloodywood also became only the second band in 2 years and the only non-headliner to be asked to play an encore at the Dong Open Air.
The tour, however, wasn't all smooth sailing though, with 2 members of the band falling sick after the first show of the tour and playing through the illness for the next 7 shows. Bloodywood also got stuck in a hurricane on their last day of the tour, their only day off. They were drunk when it hit and carried $1000s of dollars worth of equipment on their backs to escape.
The soundtrack for the documentary consists of only Indian independent music, including everything from metal to acoustic. The different kinds of footage will tell fans a lot about the documentary itself, with the GoPro footage showing the story from the band's side, the audience footage capturing the energy of the moment, and the professional footage at the end showing the evolution of the band over the course of the tour in all its cinematic glory.
“From the cold northern lands, from the far darker worlds, from the altars of long-forgotten gods, they brought their bloody flags. They know the paths that lead to dangerous predators who are plagued by constant hunger. To the places of ancient and unbridled magic. To the distant lands of elves and dwarves. To the horrors of darkness that fears even death. They came only to those who dare to look in the eyes of their luck.”
Ukrainian folk metal band Midgard, started in 2015 playing in the folk metal, Viking metal and fantasy metal genres. The groups music and lyrics give an atmosphere that tell a variety of fascinating stories and take you to mystical worlds. Fast drumming, hard guitar riffs, all mingling with air flutes, will take the listeners to other dimensions – where power and magic are in endless battle. Where every step is another chance to look into the incredible.
The group put on a great live show experience, and have already played with bands such as:-
Ensiferum, Percival Schuttenbach, Nokturnal Mortum, Space of Variations, etc.
Every Midgard performance has always provided powerful headbanging, slamming and mosh-pit mayhem. Their third album, Tales Of Kreia is due out on Sliptrick Records later in 2020.

Italian Folk Metallers Kanseil release first single and lyric video 'Boscars'; taken from the new EP
Italian folk metallers Kanseil have unleashed the lyric video 'Boscars', first single off the upcoming acoustic EP ‘Cant Del Corlo’ (Chant of the Spinning Wheel) coming out next February 7th via Rockshots Records.
The song is available as digital single on the major online stores, paired with an official lyric video on YouTube:

Spotify ➤ https://spoti.fi/2QZfkgW
iTunes ➤ https://apple.co/2R4p5KV
Pre-orders of the new EP 'Cant del Corlo' are now available at the Rockshots Records' official store:
The record is a concept album inspired by the four seasons, a perennial cycle that escapes human control. The spinning wheel (‘Corlo’) becomes the eternal wheel that makes us mortal. Four epic songs with extra atmospheric intro and outro allow the listener to dive into the mood of the seasons, becoming inevitably part of the endless flow of time. Even if the acoustic mood has always been pervading Kanseil’s creations, they wanted to dare a step further by releasing a record without any electric instrument.
The record was recorded, mixed and mastered by Luigi Stefanini at New Sin Studio, produced by Kanseil. The artwork was created by Manuel Scapinello and Giulia Zuliani.

Joining the ranks at Sliptrick Records this week are Russian Instrumental Folk Metal / Progressive Hard Rock trio Helena Aleksandre’s (we prefer Avant-Garde Folk Metal).
The group is led by Helena who was born in Kostroma, Russia. She started playing guitar at 15 and took the next 5 years learning to understand her music and discover the talent to create music in her own style. Helena is joined by vocalist Vera Moore who also writes the text for the songs and Stasy Short who plays classical guitar and is also fond of playing bass guitar and synthesizer.
Helena Aleksandre’s music combines several styles. There is no framework for the compositions and the music specifically tries to avoid copying anyone. In any song, you may find a lot of non-recurring moments, which makes each song interesting and makes you want to listen to it several times. Influences include Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow and Kipelov while the sound has elements of folk, metal and progressive hard rock.
The all female line-up was created a year ago in 2018 with the band accumulated tracks ready for their debut album due to be released worldwide via Sliptrick Records.
Helena Aleksandre’s are:
Helena Aleksandre – Composer/Lyrics/Guitarist
Vera Moore – Vocals/Lyrics
Stasy Short – Guitarist
