Hot off the heels of their critically acclaimed debut demo, Englaryk, Iceland's Endalok strike again - and quickly - with their debut mini-album, Úr Draumheimi Viðurstyggðar, set for international release on January 20th, 2017 via Signal Rex. And today, heavily trafficked web-portal NoCleanSinging.com premieres the new track "Eldhaf" in its entirety exclusively HERE. While they still may bear some of the same immersive traits as their established countrymen, Endalok here present a bold assertion of their own, unique identity. Across its 24-minute runtime, the five tracks that comprise Úr Draumheimi Viðurstyggðar explode with a weirder, wilder, and more winding distillation of everything that made Englaryk so immediately engrossing - and entrancing. Within its sound-world, Endalok dwell within a ritualistic sort of womb that hauntingly gestates, pulsing with a distant-yet-overwhelming cadence that subtly shapeshifts. It's a similarly shadowy dance as Englaryk - that sense of slow-motion vertigo, as different beyond-the-shade textures come into focus, only to wither away again - but given grim, hideous purpose as the band's confidence in their vision grows. Still young, Endalok are weaving sorcery like masters on Úr Draumheimi Viðurstyggðar. As a bonus on the vinyl edition, the B-side will feature the entire Englaryk demo. In the meantime, hear the new track "Eldhaf" exclusively HERE, courtesy of NoCleanSinging.com. You can also hear the opening track to Úr Draumheimi Viðurstyggðar, "Afskræming holds og sálar," exclusively HERE.

Black Metal upstarts Draugsol have premiered their brand new track "Bót Eður Viðsjá Við illu Aðkasti" at Decibel magazine's website. The track hails from the band's highly anticipated debut album, Volaða Land, set for international release on January 13th, 2017 via Signal Rex. Hear Draugsol's "Bót Eður Viðsjá Við illu Aðkasti" in its entirety exclusively HERE. Hailing from Reykjavík, the heart of Iceland's currently hot black metal scene, Draugsól are a unique proposition amongst their distinguished stylistic countrymen. While those same contemporaries take an austere and varyingly atmospheric approach to orthodox black metal, Draugsól break from the norm with a sound that's pronouncedly more kaleidoscopic and even a bit celebratory. But let it be known that Volaða Land is not "fun" music or party-time "black metal" or anything falling under the rubric of rock 'n' roll; rather, there is a strive toward the truly epic, a search for superiority of a world apart, a roaming of the hinterlands well beyond the borders of the imagination. At the album's emotional centre is an existential crisis in a seemingly futile and careless world, the demented self-attempts to claw one's way towards meaning and the enlightenment of self. Succumb to the void or be the maker of your own purpose: the process of a single person's mental anguish and the hopelessness of being are writ large across Draugsól's opening statement. Volaða Land starts with the uprising, a search for self-empowerment and purpose. The struggle to keep one's humanity continues as the album progresses, dealing with the mental anguish of being and the absurdity of life in a seemingly careless existence and the struggle in a cruel world. The delusional individual who is the creator and destroyer of his own being/existence rises forth as the record continues, with the realization that to find meaning and purpose is one's own responsibility. Will you rise to the occasion or will you fade disgracefully? The world may change, values and morality may fluctuate, yet everything stays the same. Draugsól fight against this with Volaða Land, knowing that the human being has to - and will always have to - deal with the primal fear of the unknown. Dive deeply into their debut album, for there is nothing certain but the uncertain. Let there be no hope of pardon, nothing but the certainty of death... Take the next step toward that certainty with the track "Bót Eður Viðsjá Við illu Aðkasti" exclusively HERE, courtesy of Decibel, North America's only monthly metal magazine. www.facebook.com/draugsol www.signalrex.com www.facebook.com/signalrex www.signalrex.bandcamp.com Hot off the heels of their critically acclaimed debut demo, Englaryk, Iceland's Endalok strike again - and quickly - with their debut mini-album, Úr Draumheimi Viðurstyggðar, set for international release on January 20th, 2017 via Signal Rex. Cover and track-listing are as follows: Icelandic old school death metallers Narthraal have just released their second EP "Chainsaw Killing Spree" digitally via Inverse Records on all essential digital music stores / streaming platforms. Narthraal love old school Swedish death metal and are so far the only band in Iceland that actually uses Boss HM-2 that produces that beautiful fat, filthy sound! The band is entering the studio on October 14th and shall start recording their first full-length album. The album is scheduled for an early 2017 release via Inverse Records.
Signal Rex have set October 7th as the international release date for the debut demo of Endalok, Englaryk. Hailing from the currently-hot Icelandic black metal scene, Endalok bear many of the same immersive traits as their established countrymen, but on evidence of their opening Englaryk salvo, the secret-so-far entity exhibits a startling uniqueness that belies its young years as a band. There is a ghostly aspect at work across the four-song / 18-minute Englaryk that's as deceptive as it is swift. The four songs seemingly disintegrate under their immediately-lumbering weight, only to waft like vapour trails into soon-to-be-distinguishable shapes. This shadowy dance continues throughout the demo's duration, as different beyond-the-shade textures come into focus, only to wither away again, instilling a sense of slow-motion vertigo within the listener. And it is at this largely sombre, ceremonial pace where Endalok are most engrossing, and where shattered shards of melody fall where they may. Desolate and yet majestic in a manner not usually associated with such an appellation, Englaryk is a penetrating first taste of Endalok, and one that will be later released on vinyl after its initial cassette run. Hear the first taste at the band's Bandcamp HERE with the demo's title track. Cover and track-listing are as follows: With two successful releases to their name, Iceland's Momentum are hard at work on their next full-length album, which will once again appear on Dark Essence Records, at a date as yet to be specified. Whilst work is continuing apace, the band have been able to reveal "Dire Host", a new track from the album, via a video which was filmed in the studio. The video can be seen below "Dire Host" was recorded in June in Hveragerði, a small town about a half hour drive from Reykjavík, and the new album marks the first time that Momentum will be working in the studio with Friðrik Helgason. As to what fans should expect from the album, "Dire Host" gives a pretty good idea according to the band who had this to say: “The songwriting process for a new album is going very well and we are really enjoying the direction in which we are heading. It has been, and continues to be, a new learning curve for the band to keep the music to just the three of us, but it would seem that we thrive on challenging ourselves with something different every time.
"We wanted to go and record a proper example of what the band is doing today and we feel that 'Dire Host' captures that quite well. If you happen to be at Eistnaflug festival next week you will be able to see this live as well as a lot more of the new material, including a special treat that we've been working very hard on this past month”. Momentum, whose line-up comprises Kristján on Drums, Holaf on Vocals and Bass, and Ingvar on Guitar and Vocals, is set appear not once, but twice at the Eistnaflug Festival in Iceland in July. Their first appearance will be on the Boli stage on Wednesday 6th at 17:50, whilst on Friday the 8th they hit the Brennivin stage at 22:20 for what will be a special show. www.momentumiceland.com www.facebook.com/momentumiceland New Zealand's Ulcerate announces new album 'Shrines Of Paralysis' & announces North American tour30/6/2016 New Zealand death metal innovators Ulcerate have revealed the cover art and preliminary details surrounding their forthcoming fifth full-length album and follow-up to 2013's critically-acclaimed "Vermis". The Icelandic-wave influenced ambient rockers will release their next full-length on this label. Regarding their signing, Kontinuum confessed that they: "are very pleased to announce our signing with Season of Mist. To us it is important to work with people that we connect with. People that relate to our creative output and vision. This is why we look forward to our future cooperation with Season of Mist." Kontinuum were conceived with the aim to create hypnotic and spiritual musical noise in Reykjavik, Iceland in the year 2010. After sending demo tracks of their debut album 'Earth Blood Magic' to a few labels, a first deal was quickly struck. Kontinuum wasted no time and entered Sigur Rós' Sundlaugin Studio in the Icelandic town Mosfellsbær in order to begin record their first full length, which was released in 2012. 'Earth Blood Magic' received rave reviews across the board and was voted rock album of the year in Morgunblaðið, Iceland. The band played numerous shows in 2013 and established a reputation as a powerful live band. Kontinuum started working on their sophomore album in 2014. A first single titled "I Huldusal" was released the same year and received substantial radio play in Iceland, while even topping the charts of the island's largest alternative rock radio station. 'Kyrr' hit the stores in April 2015 alongside the brand new single "Breathe". Following the release of their second album, Kontinuum embarked on two tours in Germany and performed at several festivals including the prestigious Roadburn Festival (Netherlands), Eurosonic Festival (Netherlands), Icelandic Airwaves and Eistnaflug Festival at home, and Lithuania's Devilstone Festival. www.facebook.com/KontinuumICE www.instagram.com/KontinuumCult www.twitter.com/Kontinuum_ICE Icelandic bringers of darkness Zhrine are releasing the new track "Utopian Warfare" taken from their forthcoming album 'Unortheda', which will hit stores worldwide on April 8th. "Utopian Warfare" is exclusively premiered by the official media partners listed below.
Regarding the new song, Zhrine comment: "Seductive strings lull the listener into a psychedelic mire of notes both lavish, lush, and alien, before the blitzkrieg of 'Utopian Warfare' erupts like a maelstrom of crushing death painted in layers of black, blue and blood- thus setting the tone for the aural beat-down to come." Zhrine have previously revealed artwork and tracklist of 'Unortheda', which can be viewed below. The cover was created by renowned artist Zbigniew M. Bielak. Tracklisting 1. Utopian Warfare 2.
