 More than thirty years on from their "Melancholy" debut album, Spain’s premier exponents of gargantuan, emotive, melodic doom / death metal are still forging ahead, redefining their style and creating albums of remarkable power, passion and depth. After the resounding triumph of 2024's "Spreading The Wings Of Hope", the band’s onward and upward trajectory shows no signs of slowing as they are already set to release their new, seventh full length album – "Hubris". Far from a carbon copy of its illustrious predecessor, Hubris is made of rawer, darker stuff. Drawing on the personal struggles and intimate tragedies of everyday lives Hubris is unflinching in its presentation. The past is gone and the band have described Hubris as ‘a very important chapter that truly reflects who we are today’… Beginning with the first single, ‘A Simple Life’, Hubris opens the floodgates of emotion and after a fragile vocal introduction the weight of despair crashes down upon the listener. The melodic chorus leads you with deceptive beauty into a deeper darkness and this desolate journey begins in earnest. ‘The Weight Of The Weak’ lifts the tempo, driving onwards with passages of genuine pace and some quality lead guitar work – something that also lights up the oppressive gloom of ‘Broken Toy’ and ‘Too Late’ – while ‘Blind’ is breath-taking in its overwhelming power, a majestic procession of sorrow. Before the emotionally punishing conclusion of ‘Intolerance’, we find one of Hubris’ many highlights in the atmospheric form of ‘Fire In The Shadows’. This song enfolds you in its black wings, encloses you in surging walls of emotion, sealing you away from the world, isolating you within its austere judgement. Hubris will accept nothing but total honesty and will offer the same in return. There are no flights of fantasy here, just a courageous confrontation with the reality of the world and the reality of our own failings. As the band puts it – “These are not fictional stories, but fragments of real life turned into music”.  To find the ‘rawer, more direct’ sound that they were looking for, to bring out the rugged textures of Hubris, Golgotha turned to producer Davide Billia (Antropofagus, Beheaded, Posthuman Abomination etc) – and together they have sculpted the unique sonic character that this album demanded. The theme of the track "The Vile Entity" as well as the main theme on the whole full length record is about the essence and manifestation of evilness. Band backgrounds the song: "The Vile Entity is the title track of Numento's upcoming second album. The third single introduces the new intensive sound of the band comprehensively and gives an accurate overview of what is going to be expected from the album as a whole. The themes of the album and the title track are built on an enigma about the seed of evil, how does a human or other entity become evil -- how are serial killers and other criminals born? The new single will dive right into this question since the antagonist of the story is one of the most famous and cunning serial murderers ever known, and who managed to hide his true face for a long time by appearing innocent to the people around him. The origin of Numento dates back to 2004. That year a few schoolmates from eastern Helsinki decided to start playing instruments. And of course before anyone had learned a single chord it felt mandatory to also form a band. A metal band. During the following years the band changed its name a couple times. It wasn’t until late 2010 when the band decided to change its name for the last time. The name Numento was chosen after a long night. The lineup has had few changes after that, but it was that time that the band started to find it's own sound that you can still recognize in their music. NUMENTO:

 Hanging Garden anno 2022; photo credit: Kalle Pyyhtinen Finnish melodic metallers Hanging Garden hit the studio to record what will become the band's eighth album and first for Agonia Records. The seven-piece just completed recording drums at D-Studio of Klaukkala, Finland, with new-old drummer Antti Ruokola, last seen in Hanging Garden seven years ago. The prolific outfit is going forward full steam with the production of the as yet untitled opus and follow-up to "Skeleton Lake" (2021). The rest of the album will be recorded at various studios around the capital area of Finland, and in the end put together and produced by the band's guitarist Jussi Hämäläinen. Come July, the album will enter post-production in the tender care of Jarno Hänninen at D-Studio.  Los Angeles symphonic prog metallers Anthea announce their return in 2022 with their sophomore album "Tales Untold" to be released once again via Rockshots Records this coming August to follow their 2020 debut "Illusion". For the new album, Anthea has taken the reigns for a more DIY approach with vocalist Diego Valadez taking over also as the full-length's producer along with bassist Eric “EJ” Guerrero in charge of music videos and photography. Diego Valadez comments:- “We released our debut album in 2020, but were, unfortunately, like everyone else, unable to tour or play live gigs. However, this gave us a lot of extra time to really craft this follow-up album into something special. Tales Untold was written and recorded throughout 2021 and I am so proud of the end result.” Fans of Anthea's first album "Illusion" will enjoy this one even more. The difference with this next record is that Anthea has a more mature sound and has carefully thought out the ebb and flow throughout it. Their end goal is to give a very dynamic and cinematic album in which the listener feels as though they’ve gone through a grand musical journey once they’ve reached the end. The song titled Elude is a heavy sounding but still wistful story of giving one’s all but still to be left with nothing. Elude following the two earlier single releases - Limits of Life and Manflake - continues the musical development leaning towards heavier sounds compared to the band’s first album Awful Hits for Women (2020). Vocalist Lily Black sums it up:- ”The lyrics are about trial and error in a relationship, about giving all you got to someone but still just not being enough. Eventually one is forced to give up and let go, but still the doubt remains: did I try hard enough or could I have given it more effort?" Guitarist Teemu Harjunen and bassist Sami Halinen comment on the song:- "Elude differs from other our songs because the basic structure was created almost two years ago but the finishing took time. The chorus especially took a lot of work and we ground it to the point of tiring. We put the song on the shelf for a while and got back to working on it in the beginning of 2022 as we were working on the second album. Suddenly it all just clicked and the released version also includes a synthesizer bringing wideness to the sound. The song is very nice to play and as an upbeat song it works great in live shows as well”
The song has been recorded in the group’s bassist Sami Halinen’s home studio in Nakkila Mixing was done by Sami Niittykoski (SN-Audio Production) and mastering Alho Audio Mastering.
