 Linkin Park continue the Hybrid Theory 20th Anniversary Celebration with the release of One Step Closer (100 gecs Reanimation). One Step Closer was the lead single from the band’s debut album, Hybrid Theory. One Step Closer (100 gecs Reanimation) available HERE via Warner Records. The band recruited the critically adored, groundbreaking pioneers to re-envision, reimagine, and reanimate this generational anthem as they see fit. The results bridge the gap between eras of musical revolution as 100 gecs—Dylan Brady and Laura Les—cook up an otherworldly interpretation of One Step Closer, which preserves the signature intensity of the original as it pushes into new territory altogether with gecs adding their own vocals in addition to production. As kindred spirits, Linkin Park set a precedent for genre-bending in 2000, and 100 gecs pick up this mantle and run with it in 2021. “Part of the spirit of Reanimation was to take the Hybrid Theory songs that people knew so well, and let innovative artists flip them in ways nobody expected. Linkin Park capped off 2020 with the triumphant unveiling of the Hybrid Theory: 20th Anniversary Edition. The album roared back onto the charts, surging to #3 on the Billboard Top Album Sales Chart 20 years since its initial release. It marked the record’s highest position on the respective chart since 2002. 100 gecs is the groundbreaking pop duo of Dylan Brady and Laura Les, who planted their flag on the proverbial pop culture moon with their 2019 debut album 1000 gecs. The innovative project captured the hearts of fans and critics alike with The New York Times calling it, “Some of the savviest pop music of the year,” and Interview Magazine suggesting that it is, “A blueprint for what pop music might sound like in the year 2050.” In just a few months the band went from playing their first concert from inside the video game Minecraft to selling out shows across the country, proving that their rabid fanbase doesn't only exist in the far corners of the internet. After their world tour was postponed in the summer of 2020, Brady and Les returned with 1000 gecs and The Tree of Clues, a rework of the original album featuring collaborations from the likes of A. G. Cook, Fall Out Boy, Charlie XCX, Rico Nasty, as well as crowd sourced contributions by fans. The transformative release was described by NME as a “brain-melting, genre-crushing vision of pop’s future.”

 Photo: Jeremy Saffer Metal trailblazers Tetrarch have wrapped up work on their second album, Unstable, produced by Dave Otero (Cattle Decaptitation, Allegeon, Khemmis) and Tetrarch, scheduled for release this fall. The first single from the album, “I’m Not Right,” is set to premiere on Sirius/XM’s Liquid Metal on Thursday, May 14. The song, which will be released the following day, is available to pre-save at https://tetrarch.ffm.to/imnotright. Guitarist Diamond Rowe says:- “We are very unapologetic about who we are as a band now, and you can really hear that with this new record. It embodies everything that we want the world to hear in heavy music and I believe many people are going to love and relate to it. We are all very excited to put this out and continue riding this wave.” Adds guitarist/vocalist Josh Fore:- “With this record, we pushed ourselves to do whatever was best for the songs. I am so proud of what we have created. This record is heavy, it’s catchy, but most of all it is unequivocally Tetrarch and we are ready to bring it to the world.” Tetrarch burst onto the scene in 2017 with the release of their full-length album, Freak, produced by Dave Otero. The album immediately reached strong positions on several iTunes charts – debuting within the Top 200 chart, at #3 on the metal charts and #17 on the rock charts. Their lead single, “Freak,” also garnered huge response from Sirius XM Octane, and hit Top 50 on the Active Rock charts. The band toured incessantly following the release of the album, including headlining gigs, slots on major tours and appearances at some of North America’s largest music festivals. After a year of writing, the band reflected on their previous recording experience and made the decision to return to Denver to once again work with Otero as co-producer of Unstable. Rowe says:- “It’s been quite a journey, but we are an extremely hands-on band when it comes to every aspect of what we do. "In your Room" shows an evolution not only in terms of sound, but also in terms of writing compared to the previous album. Many songs are inspired by some incisive experiences that the band lived last year during the European tours in which it took part. “Wait for me” talks about opportunities, how to live one's passions fully, not to let them escape and to wake up every day in a different place with a different opportunity. “Who I am” was written in a personal way by Gloria, who on stage finds that unconditional love for music, moved by the exchange of energy with the audience, which goes beyond everything, every emotion, every feeling. “Queen of peace”, were written in London, has a more pop momentum. The English metropolis, which enjoys numerous corners of peace, becomes the subject of a metaphor to underline that the search for serenity can also find a place within us. The lyrics of the other pieces are at times poetic and metaphorical, with references to decadent poetry: Baudelaire's "Spleen" and the evanescent images of Tim Burton's cinematography are an example. There is no shortage of riffs and pressing refrains like in Your eyes, Mr Right and Wasted. “No way” and "I don't need", present stronger themes, such as the search for one's independence through the elimination of prejudices, fears, needs, and deleterious attachments. “In this Room”, the first revealed single of the album, contains the meaning of the desire to leave your room, from your comfort zone, from the "bubble" where it all began. Kyle recruited former band mate Christian Elvins on rhythm guitar and long time friend Chris Watkins on bass and then after auditioning drummers, deciding on Luke Hill, former Hells Bells and Body Harvest beats man. After writing a single and 5 other tracks which would constitute their debut EP, Red Flag, they hit the studio with Jeff Rose (Bullet For My Valentine, Trivium, Glamour Of The Kill, Wreckage Of Society, Etc) to record the resulting tracks. On completion of the recording, the band parted with rhythm guitarist Christian Elvins and bassist Chris Watkins, and they were replaced with Kyle Zehtabi on rhythm guitar and Matthew Hulin on bass finally forming the current solid line-up of Malicious Inc.. Having signed with Sliptrick Records, the group will be releasing the Red Flag EP soon with the single Bone & Mortar preceding that on September 20th …but they are not resting on their laurels just yet. Malicious Inc. are already working on follow up material for what will be their debut album.
