Bristling with an epically baroque life and energy, Finland’s multi-Platinum cello-rockers Apocalyptica have unveiled their brand new single ‘Ashes Of The Modern World.’ The song is taken from Cell-0, their upcoming ninth studio album, released on January 10th via Silver Lining Music.
The powerful video was directed by the award-winning Finnish photographer/videographer Ville Juurikkala who has worked with a wide variety of prominent artists from Guns N’ Roses and Aerosmith to opera singer Andrea Bocelli.
The recording of Cell-0 followed a four-year break between albums that gave the band - Eicca Toppinen, Perttu Kivilaakso, Paavo Lötjönen, and Mikko Sirén, all of whom are classically-trained musicians - a fresh perspective and affected the way they approached the new music. The album sees them return to their roots and is the quartet’s first instrumental album in 17 years, finding Apocalyptica challenging themselves to discover new flavours and colours in their respective instruments.
“It is tough to express without lyrics, but in Cell-0, we found particles of our universe previously unknown to us,” they explained. “Millions of notes combine to create music just as millions of cells combine to create life, and when you visualize the whole thing, similar patterns appear.”
Produced by Apocalyptica, mixed by Andrew Scheps (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Lana Del Rey, Metallica and Black Sabbath), and recorded at Sonic Pump Studios in Helsinki, Cell-0 sees the band soaring into ethereal space on ‘Ashes Of The Modern World,’ while diving head-first into aggressive thrash cello-riffery during ‘En Route To Mayhem.’
Rather than put strategic attention on aspects like writing singles, the band approached Cell-0 as a fully-formed piece of art, connecting the right details and hues with the energy of being a real cello-metal band. By pushing themselves to find other places and levels in their music, Apocalyptica opened up to some seemingly unorthodox methods and emotions while travelling through that creative process.
“These new songs have so many layers and are so complex, and it’s not always easy to point exactly what they are about,” Toppinen expresses. “But I think that’s also the beauty of instrumental music, that the listener always can feel free to experience the same songs in very, very different ways. It’s also one reason why we don’t want to explain the songs before they’re experienced.”
In support of the release of Cell-0, Apocalyptica will Special Guest with Sabaton on a 15-country, 23-date European arenas tour, including an appearance at Wembley Arena on February 8th 2020. All confirmed dates are below.

Today, melodic metal titans Sonata Arctica herald the start of the cold season as the group releases their 10th studio album Talviyö (Winter Night), via Nuclear Blast. To mark the occasion, the Finns have launched a brand new music video for 'Who Failed The Most', which was produced by renowned director Patric Ullaeus (rEvolver Film Company; DIMMU BORGIR, ENSLAVED, IN FLAMES etc.). Watch it over on YouTube: youtu.be/ZQT292b8E88
Keyboardist Henrik 'Henkka' Klingenberg states:-
"The wait is finally over, now all of you will hear what we've been working on for the past year or so as we present our latest album "Talviyö". It was quite an experience getting this album ready for you guys and for the first time ever, we had some outside help from our very own Mikko Tegelman who produced the album. We focused on playing live this time and I think the album really captures how Sonata Arctica sounds like today. It will be a blast to go out and perform this new music alongside selected cuts from our catalogue. See you soon and meanwhile we hope you enjoy the album as much as we did making it.
It's also time for the second video of "Talviyö", 'Who Failed The Most' is one of the more approachable songs on the album and we worked with Patric Ullaeus once again to create the video. We took advantage of the nice Finnish summer and shot our performance outside for a change, which turned out quite cool. You'll probably hear this song throughout the Talviyö World Tour« that's starting right now in North America and from there we'll continue to Europe and the rest of the world. Cheers!"
Talviyö was recorded between September 2018 and May 2019, produced by Mikko Tegelman and Sonata Arctica in 'Studio57'. Additional recordings took place in various other places. "Mikko produced the album and he really managed to push us to do our best, even with the more experimental stuff. Working with an outside producer was the biggest new thing we tried this time", says Henrik "Henkka" Klingenberg.
The mixing was done by Mikko Tegelman and Pasi Kauppinen and the mastering was handled by Svante Forsbäck for 'Chartmakers'.

Eve Desire, the Brazilian Symphonic Power Metal band, has just announced their debut album "Prelude to Singularity", which will be released in September. The debut album "Prelude to Singularity" will be released in physical format and on all major streaming platforms. The work will feature eight tracks, produced by Thiago Bianchi (Shaman and Noturnall), and released via Fusion Records.
Gestated for months, the album "Prelude to Singularit"y tells the story of a man trapped in the fifth dimension, accompanied only by death. As in a Neil Gaiman story, the figure of death is represented by a wise woman who talks to him about time, space and ephemeral earthly life. Each track is a piece of dialogue, containing reflections of the conversation between man, representing humanity, and Death.
Quantum Physics is one of the central themes in Prelude to Singularity. The question of time, under human perception, the interaction with it, and what is the view of science on this temporal aspect. “We are all lovers of science, physics and mathematics. Putting Music and Science together had everything to do with us”, says Arya Medeiros Cappia, lead singer of Eve Desire.
After personal problems interfering with the release of the debut album, Eve Desire has matured musically, becoming stronger: “This album means one more step, one more step achieved. It was made very truthfully. A scholarship that made us emerge on the record,” says Arya.
Eve Desire is formed by:-
Arya Medeiros Cappia (Vocals)
Wagner Cappia (Keyboards)
Vini Ramadoni (bass)
Lauro Nightrealm (guitar)
Rafael Hernandes - drums

Christian power / prog metal band S91 presents the new video "Godfrey of Bouillon" featuring singer Egidio Casati from Boarders. The song is taken from the latest album "Along The Sacred Path", released by Rockshots Records in Spring 2019.
"Along The Sacred Path" album traces the history of Christianity through the life of some key figures. One of them is Godfrey Of Bouillon, first ruler of the first Crusader State. He is also the main character of Torquato Tasso's "Gerusalemme liberata", a poetic character of extraordinarily evocative force. Moved by sincere faith, he is a humble hero who refuses the title of King.
"Along The Sacred Path" Album is available at Rockshots Store:
SPOTIFY - https://spoti.fi/2YnKUKR
Watch the video above.
S91’s style is in the wake of a coordinated progressive-metal with symphonic influences, led by the warm and strong voice of Maria Londino standing above.
The band explains their sophomore full length:
"'Along The Sacred Path' is a concept album that traces the history of Christianity, continuing the narrative from "Behold The Mankind". The story is told through the life of some key figures that are not always considered positive by everyone. The main goal is to show how the Gospel message has spread in its original form, becoming the fabric of modern Western society. Scrolling through the track listing, you will see that all the characters are of European origin. This album is also a tribute to the great nation of EUROPE. As proud citizens, we feel it is a nation that today, more than ever, needs to recognize and rediscover its founding values if it wants to survive in these dark times and continue to be a beacon of civilization for the whole world.

Swedish adventure metallers Twilight Force are set to release their latest opus Dawn Of The Dragonstar on August 16, 2019 via Nuclear Blast. Keyboard wizard Blackwald proclaims:-
"Knights and apprentices! We are delighted and excited to finally present to you the title track from our third creation - 'Dawn Of The Dragonstar'! This hymn tells the olden tale of a mighty and ancient dragon, whose final fate is to ascend to the firmaments and become a star of guiding light. The splendour of his gleaming soul brings honour, courage and strength to all humans, elves, and dwarves.
"The video for this song portrays Twilight Force on their journey to help fulfil the prophecy of the Dragonstar. By using the blinding swiftness of his nimble fingers, Lynd, empowered by powerful enchantments, imbues the petrified Dragonking with renewed life-force. However, the incantations required to enchant Lynd turn out to be volatile, and Born's potent decoctions come in handy when Blackwald's spell-casting manifests itself in a somewhat...unplanned manner (shapeshifting is indeed a handy school of magic, but it is better utilised for quests requiring great stealth rather than for awakening dragons). We hope you enjoy this adventure together with us, and may the power of the Dragon guide you all!"
The captivating and beautiful artwork for the song, which illustrates the mighty dragon's ascension towards the empyrean void, was conjured up by none other than Martin Hanford, the creator of Twilight Force's very first album cover.

Dawn Of The Dragonstar will be released on jewel-case CD, digibook, vinyl and digitally. The vinyl, as well as the limited digibook editions, includes several bonus tracks. One is an exquisite cover version of the fellowship's 2014 song 'The Power Of The Ancient Force', performed by skilled singer-songwriter Hanna Turi. Secondly, you'll be taken on an instrumental voyage through the western-most Kingdom Of Vhardas, with an orchestral version of 'With The Light Of A Thousand Suns'. Last but not least, the Knights Of Twilight's Might will for the first time be able to experience never before heard ancient rudimentary demo versions of two of the first ever recorded Twilight Force songs, namely 'Forest Of Destiny' and 'Enchanted Dragon Of Wisdom'. Both tracks were conjured up back in 2007, long before Twilight Force was even an official entity or ever mentioned in the Book of Time.

Once again recorded in the group's own Twilight Forge, the album will not only present ten new stories to their loyal Knights Of Twilight's Might, but also introduce the companions' new minnesinger, Allyon, who was called upon by the prophecies to join the fellowship in 2018.
Speaking about the new album, the band states, "Lo and behold! We are beyond elated to finally unveil the third opus of Twilight Force: Dawn Of The Dragonstar. The absolutely magnificent artwork by the mighty Kerem Beyit once again brilliantly captures the adventurous and magical world of the Twilight Kingdoms; and a sparkling adventure it shall be indeed. Dawn Of The Dragonstar will be unleashed upon the realm of the living on August 16th, so we humbly ask for your patience for just a little while longer. In the meantime, practice your battle cries, sharpen your swords, and dust off your spell tomes. Make sure you are prepared to join and experience our triptych adventure."
After wandering across several foreign shores to proclaim the illustrious tales of their two previous records alongside minstrels such as SABATON, ACCEPT, SONATA ARCTICA, and DRAGONFORCE among others, TWILIGHT FORCE will of course be lying in wait to claim the universe's playgrounds. A few European festival gatherings have already been announced, more to follow soon...!
