After one month of voting, nearly 6,000 votes cast and countless sharing across all social media platforms by us and nominees alike, the time has come to announce the winners of the GMA Awards 2019.

But before that happens, there will be a change to how the nominees are cast. For 10 months of the year we will be running a series of rounds from which the 10 finalists will be recognised for the annual event.

The system will work as thus: nominees elected in the month of January are voted for in February... February nominees voted in March, etc and finishes with nominees in October being voted for in November - the finalists will then be voted for across the month of December and into early January 2021; finishing 8th January 2021.

Now that's put out into the open, we can finally reveal the winners of the GMA Awards 2019.

Scarlet Aura have become a staple in the European metal scene with their powerful live shows and crushing heavy metal. After touring internationally with artists like Rhapsody of Fire, Tarja, Beast in Black and Soto, releasing critically acclaimed albums and gaining steady followers on all channels, Scarlet Aura are now set to release their fifth album “Stormbreaker” and just shared the album’s cover art, tracklisting and release date with their fans for their anticipated new album.

The brand-new album “Stormbreaker” features the previously released single track ‘High in the Sky’ which debuted live during their summer tour.

Check out the music video ‘High in The Sky’ as first single from the new album “Stormbreaker” here https://youtu.be/xg-4sWp_QzY

The new album “Stormbreaker” will also mark the official release of the second fantasy book volume from the same trilogy. Scarlet Aura continues the conceptual “The Book Of Scarlet Trilogy” showing who they are through the musical and the lyrical part. The new album and book release date are set for 27th of March 2020.

  1. The World Is Not Enough
  2. MetalHell
  3. Battle Cry
  4. Stormbreaker
  5. Loose Cannon
  6. I Am The One
  7. High In The sky
  8. The Heretic
  9. Daddy's lil Monster
  10. A Blast From The Past
  11. Scarlets United

Aura, the front lady, states:-

“As an artist I`m not afraid to dig into the unknown by approaching sensible subjects in our songs, subjects like the difficulty of being honest with others but also with yourself regarding your own feelings, the need of overcoming a huge sufferance that troubles you, the lack of courage when it`s about doing the right thing, the lack of love or the crying for it… subjects that make ourselves human, subjects that are in each one of us and that makes us who we are and maybe throughout our music, we get recovered, healed or better, we discover ourselves for who we really are because with any doubt music heals the spirit, metal heals the heart.

And so Stormbreaker was born and got the fantasy clothing as the second album from “The Book Of Scarlet” Trilogy which became without even knowing in advance, a journey, a process of getting our true self out there through this unique process of enjoying the combination between metal music and fantasy literature. The release album concerts will be true shows of spark in which we`ll use the amazing prop that will give you the goose bumps of the Scarlet world so join us, let`s make this 2020 tour into a sold out one, it will be definitely worth it!“.

Guitarist Mihai adds:-

“Stormbreaker continues the heavy metal statement we started with Hail To You and although “The Book Of Scarlet” trilogy takes these albums into a fantasy world of discovering Scarlet, I think we`ll all realize after listening that actually Scarlet is in each one of us. Stormbreaker comes rough, it comes straight forward, it comes in your face with the powerful rhythms, edgy guitar riffs, almost psychedelic guitar solos, hard crunchy bass lines, modulations and surprises at every step not giving you the time to get bored but to want more after every song, all of us exceeding even our own expectations. After I finished the production for Stormbreaker I was surprised of our evolution, I think it`s the best album Scarlet Aura had so far, I think it comes with the fresh sound and approach the heavy metal stage needs, I`m proud of how far we`ve got and  I hope you`ll be too by coming to our shows and supporting the band.  Can`t wait to see you out there!”

Dr. Tatyana Shubina, Managing Director of Silver City Records points out:-

“Eastern European countries and particularly Romania haven’t brought many metal bands on the international metal music radar, making with Scarlet Aura a beautiful exception also by their sparkling and full of energy fronted female singer, by their message full of light, by their powerful sound, unique guitar solos, song writing and the fantasy behind all this. Scarlet Aura in one word? Exceptional!”

The album was recorded in Bucharest at Silver City Studio and written, mixed, engineered and produced by Mihai Danciulescu, founder and guitar player of Scarlet Aura, with lyrics written by Aura Danciulescu. The album and the book will be released by Silver City Records, the band's own record label.

Accompanying the announcement of the release, Scarlet Aura will kick off a European wide tour in spring 2020 that will lead them through Germany, Switzerland, France, United Kingdom, Czech Republic, The Netherlands, Austria, Romania and Bulgaria.

Romanian Dark Doom / Jazz quintet Katharos XIII unveil new music video 'Vidma'

5/11/2019

Picture

Timisoara, Romania based Dark Doom Jazz quintet Katharos XIII present their new video for the track Vidma, taken off the band's most recent album, Palindrome released on October 14th: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GAgeZzczfrM

This video directed by Alexandru Das, is intended to be a meditative capture of our place in the universe, as a non-existential experience interacting with primary elements. During the whole journey we are observers and we sink more and more into our anxieties hallucinating with the unknown discovering that we are not the centre of everything as we want to believe. Like a shadow spirit, Vidma impersonates the flow of life as flashes of light in the void of the universe where questions of what is simulated and what is real around us are painful for the seeker, but maybe the key is at the end of the journey where you will find a dream that sets reality to be what we want to believe it is and the rest is lost in the dark like life itself.

Katharos XIII's new studio album Palindrome is available for streaming and orders here:

Norwegian metal outfit Wardruna sign with Sony Music

Masterful Norwegian storytellers Wardruna sign to Sony Music/Columbia Records for the world, and announce European tour dates for 2020. Dates below with tickets going on sale on 11th October at 10am BST, 11am CEST. Details of the upcoming album shall be revealed in due course.

Einar Selvik comments:

“Wardruna has been a DIY to-the-bone kind of project since the very beginning. Slowly and patiently evolving. Working hard and always keeping the art itself as the primary decisive factor. This will never change for me, and so having people on our team that also embrace this way of working is paramount. Partnering up with Sony Music / Columbia Records is a new steppingstone for us and I am very confident that this new addition to the team will give us new opportunities to further develop our art and take it to the next level.”

Picture

2019 marks ten years since Wardruna’s first release. A series of sold out shows at prestigious concert venues around the world culminate in the highlight of the fall; Wardruna will perform in the legendary Red Rocks Amphitheater in the United States, followed by sold out European tour. The group's critically acclaimed “Runaljod” trilogy based on the Nordic runes reached its conclusion and was followed by a stripped-down, fully acoustic album exploring the ancient poetic traditions of the Skalds. This spring, a new chapter for the band will start. New music is being worked on as well as further steps in the band´s concert production.

“I don’t wish to reveal too much at this point but can say that we are now deep into the process of writing and recording a new album. When Wardruna gets up from the current studio-hibernation and initiate the concert-year of 2020, it is clearly allowed to hope for new music!" Says Einar Selvik.

True Romanian Folk Metallers E-an-na release new song & video "Apele Îngheţate” and announce upcoming album

The band E-an-na has just released the new song „Apele Îngheţate” (The Frozen Waters) together with a video. With each release the band strays further away from the conventions of regular folk metal, trying to bring something new and fresh to the genre.

The song deals with depression and topics deriving from it, depicting an abstract place or being that functions for each of us as a shelter.

The song is part of the upcoming album „Nesfârşite”. Nesfârşite will be released on the 19th of july 2019. The album contains 13 songs and is graced by some internationally known guest musicians:

Michalina Malisz from Eluveitie
Archy Jay a.k.a. The Snake Charmer
Daniel Neagoe from Clouds, Eye of Solitude, Shape of Despair, Aeonian Sorrow
Robert Cotoros fom The Bipolar Disorder Project

Romanian Experimental Black Metallers Katharos XIII unveil new line-up & album details

22/6/2019

Picture

Katharos XIII have finished their third opus entitled “Palindrome”; five long tracks that shifted from the traditional depressive black metal into a more eclectic art form of expression with dark doom metal and post-jazz elements, a certain evolution into a more personal unearthly ambiance that represent a new path  in the journey that this band embarked more than twelve years ago. The same paranoia and weirdness but with different tools this time.

The new incarnation of Katharos XIII:

Manuela Marchis - vocals
F. - guitars, keyboards, vocals
Sabat - drums
Alex Iovan - saxophone
Hanos-Puskai Péter - bass

New members come from different non-metal environments like Thy Veils, Exit Oz or Dara Project and this created new different layers of expression during the recording sessions that evolved into an alienated and rather strange form in opposition with the conventional music scene of now days because most of the recordings were done by each member alone in their own universe without any connection with the rest of the band; in some cases only Attila Lukinich was there in DSPro studios to capture the sounds and drummer Sabat was responsible for mixing and mastering the whole album.

“Palindrome” will be available in early autumn through Loud Rage Music on a CD format with a special visual concept designed by Alexandru Das.

Romanian Progressive Extreme Metallers Left Hand Path released a new single taken off their upcoming debut material. Left Hand Path lyric video was edited by Pestilence bass player Edward Negrea (https://www.facebook.com/edward.negrea) and is now streaming here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k0T__zxPfZ8

Picture

The Left Hand Path EP is scheduled to be released on June 17th 2019 via Loud Rage Music, and pre-orders are now available here:

– jewel-case CD: http://shop.loudragemusic.com/left-hand-path-left-hand-path

– digital: https://loudragemusic.bandcamp.com/album/left-hand-path-left-hand-path

Left Hand Path are:

  • Szenasi Attila (bass) - you've most likely heard him play with Negura Bunget, where he spent about a decade and with the brutal death metal band Malpraxis

  • José Morales (drums) - Behind the drum set, straight from South America, Jose, who joined the band after playing in Marchosias and Dark Aevum

  • Ádám András (guitars) - After a lot of gigging playing guitar with The Hourglass and Toy Machines, he is now ready to bring you our fresh flavour of modern metal

  • Wagner Tamás (guitars) - Tamás played guitar for Malpraxis and bass for Spiritual Ravishment, and is a big fan of heavy rhythms and groovy riffs

  • Cristian Aionese (vocals) - The former vocalist of Skullp and co-founder of Malpraxis, he is going to shout, scream, growl, and squeal everybody's face off! Beware of the butcher

The path you make for yourself, the road less travelled. The one you lead on and not blindly follow. The way you travel to find who you are, and what secrets the world holds for you. Freedom of thought and of spirit.

The Left Hand Path.
