Once called, “fluid in its groove and molasses-thick in tone” by the Obelisk, Hollow Leg have been methodical in their tour approach and consistent with their recorded output. This fall will see the release of Civilizations on Argonauta Records, the bands fourth album in eight years and third studio release since 2016. The group recorded it all in their own studio and self produced, eventually being mixed and mastered by Kent Stump of Wo Fat. With huge ambitions and deep roots, Hollow Leg have found themselves playing multiple Maryland Doom Fests. Currently putting together the final songwriting touches, the band's hotly anticipated second album will be released in the Spring of 2019! The story revolves around the resurgence of the ancient Mayan God of Death - Ah Puch - during the conquest of Yucatan peninsula by Hernan Cortez. The music has been written to accentuate this theme, sending the listener through this fantastical world accompanied by a thick wall of sludge, and clouds of bong-smoke. Though this is the band's debut album, with an ambitious concept behind it, the band are no strangers to the world of metal. Formed in 2014, DIRGE started out as a band in Pune, a city then brimming with several acts in the local metal scene. They were unique from their peers, marked by a sheer dark, moving intensity and gritty heaviness in their music. The band soon found itself a full lineup and trudged forward ever since, winning fans, supporters and accolades over the next four years as a band and releasing a single along the way in 2015. Demande À La Poussière is a Blackened Post-Core band founded in 2017 by members of The Great Old Ones, Wurm or Omrade. Members are: Jeff (vocals and guitar - The Great Old Ones / Spectrale), Edgard Chevallier (machine - ex Würm / Gloomy Hellium Bath), Vincent Baglin (Moshi-Moshi-battery), Krys (chant-Nerv / Omrade) and Jiu (Bass -ex No return), the band quickly recorded a first album at Lower Tones Place Studio in September 2017. The band has diverse influences to offer a unique style: Combining the heaviness of Sludge and Doom, the blackness of Black Metal, the intensity of Post Hardcore tinged post rock atmosphere. Carcharodon started their journey as a power trio in 2003, inspired by a concept of the Nattero brothers (Boggio & Pixo). The band's intent was to mix extreme metal with the blues and heavy doom tunes. After several demos, split records as well as two critically acclaimed studio albums, followed by numerous shows all over Europe and the States, Carcharodon are getting back to their roots in terms of their sound and while they recorded their best album to date. Says the band: „We decided to get in touch with Argonauta and Gero because this new record means a lot to us in terms of the band's evolution of sound, and we thought it deserved to be pushed properly with all possible means. We saw Argonauta grow fast during these last years and sign a lot of good bands of friends in the heavy genre, so we thought this could be the best choice for us. We asked some of these bands that are now our label mates and saw that they were happy with the label, so we immediately wrote to Gero and we are proud to say that he’s been one of the few who wasn’t afraid to invest in our raw and brutal vision of music and showed the will and courage to support our musical endeavours.
