The next chapter in the epic journey of Lorna Shore is upon us, leading up to the release of new album, Pain Remains (due to be unleashed October 14th via Century Media Records): "Pain Remains II: After All I've Done, I'll Disappear". Currently streaming on all digital platforms, the age-gated video (directed by David Brodsky // http://www.mgenyc.com) can be viewed here: https://youtu.be/JFJ5fF7cbE0 The band comments on "The Pain Trilogy": "'The Pain Trilogy' is a three-part tale focusing on the stages of grief and vulnerability and exemplifying it through a love story. The first song, 'Pain Remains I: Dancing like Flames' begins with the main character becoming enamoured by the person within his dreams. He decides to turn to this reality as a sense of purpose despite knowing that the closer he gets to his goal, the further it seems to drift away. This leads to the second song, 'Pain Remains II: After All I've Done, I'll Disappear'. This is the part where the person vanishes and the main character struggles to accept the pain. He as well wishes to disappear and seeks to throw it all away. Lorna Shore supports suicide prevention and support. We encourage all to speak to their issues and spark conversations that help and mend us all. Southern California progressive thrashers Madrost have released a new track off their upcoming live album, Lost Lives Volume 1. The band teamed with metal site Dead Rhetoric for the exclusive premiere of "Zombie Grinder." Madrost guitarist / vocalist Tanner Poppit comments on the song: "This particular version of ‘Zombie Grinder’ showcases it in its beginning stages. The song harkens back to the old days of thrash and is extremely catchy and relentless in its delivery! Especially on this live album, it has stood the test of time as a brutal slab of severe death thrash metal.” Stream "Zombie Grinder" at this location. The first in a planned series of live recordings this fall on Lost Wisdom Records. Lost Lives Volume 1 is a throwback to the band’s early days. The album features songs found on the band’s recently reissued full-length debut, Maleficent. The songs selected for this release were recorded during an October 2009 performance at Hogue Barmichael’s in Newport Beach, CA. Lost Lives Volume 1 will be out on CD and digital formats on October 11 on Lost Wisdom Records. Pre-order at madrost.bandcamp.com At the time these songs were recorded, Madrost consisted of Tanner Poppitt (Vocals/Guitar), Jake Durbin (Guitars), Thomas Damgaard (Bass), Josh Alves (Drums). Album tracks were remastered by Rob Colwell at Bombworks Sound, with artwork by Tony Koehl at www.sketchthesoul.com. Founded in the summer of 2007, Madrost is a progressive death thrash act focused on precision song writing and an energetic diverse approach to their sound. Influenced by the likes of Metal Church, Death, ELP, Believer, Coroner, Mekong Delta, and Iron Maiden, the band has transformed from a straightforward thrash / death style to incorporating a wide range of other instruments and time signatures into their own unique sound and style. Madrost signed with NoLifeTilMetal Records in 2020 and released their fourth album, the progressive thrash masterpiece Charring The Rotting Earth. This album was followed by the 2022 release of Into the Aquatic Sector. Madrost is:
Maryland-based crossover thrash metal quintet Ninth Realm have released a lyric video for new single, "Plea To The Heavens," which can be viewed at youtu.be/51byp4vW1fQ. The single is also available on Bandcamp and Spotify. Ninth Realm will release debut full-length album A Fate Unbroken November 4 on Mercenary Press. The album is a perfect blend of of crossover thrash and traditional heavy metal that represents the band's refined vision. A Fate Unbroken is a nine-track album that takes the influence of the widest range of heavy metal, 80s-toned thrash, death thrash, and hardcore that the decisive genres have to offer. Not only do the riffs, consistent guitar solos, and blackened vocals take the listener through a whirlwind of Slayer/Demolition Hammer era thrash metal, but the lyricism and quintessential raw fantasy style of their art and themes harken back to a Frank Frazetta / Ralph Bakshi age of pure Sword & Sorcery. A Fate Unbroken, for all intents and purposes, is a Maryland band’s attempt to bring a reunion of heavy metal and hardcore punk back to its raw, old-school roots. Basing their lyricism and overall theme around the original fantasy realm of Tythorin, Ninth Realm delivers an electrifying synthesis of traditional heavy metal and hardcore punk for fans of both respective genres to enjoy. Pulling from a range of influences that span everything between blackened thrash to old-school death metal, the music of Ninth Realm rips and tears with a ferocity and cadence that perfectly encapsulates the epic scale and grisly atmosphere of grim-dark fantasy. Between the use of aggressive thrash d-beat and viscerally direct song structure of classic metal acts such as Celtic Frost, combined with the melodic riffage of classic bands like Testament / Mercyful Fate, and an added twist of Cro-Mags/Leeway style crossover, Ninth Realm wields what is perhaps one of the most poignant new sounds to emerge from the metal underground in recent memory.
Pre-Order: ninthrealmmd.bandcamp.com/album/a-fate-unbroken Sharing a bond for all things heavy metal and high fantasy, college classmates Joey Burke (drummer) and Liam McMahon (lead guitarist) joined forces in the fall of 2018, writing and practicing every week to produce the 2019 demo, Gates of Tythorin. Later adding Jared Henry (bassist) and Ben Hageage (vocalist) to the mix, Ninth Realm solidified their sound with their succeeding 2020 EP, All Hail Treachery. In 2022, to offer a glimpse at what is to come with their debut LP, Ninth Realm released Ondreis MMXXII, a promo tape featuring two songs that both share a track space on the debut full-length record.
North Dakota's resident death dealers Gorgatron will release the Agony Reborn EP November 4 on digital and cassette formats via Blood Blast Distribution. The cassette version is limited to 100 copies and also includes four exclusive live tracks on Side B. The first single from Agony Reborn, "The Unwilling," will be released on October 14 on all digital platforms, along with the official video for the track. The EP, which is the final release of the Blood Blast Distribution deal, consists of three original studio recordings and a cover of Sepultura's "Dead Embryonic Cells." Gorgatron is currently seeking a new label for release of the band's recently recorded full-length album. Interested parties should contact [email protected]. Gorgatron's sound is based on a “love of the riff” approach to writing and rooted in the old-school stylings of Death Metal and Thrash, one that comes across loud and clear on Agony Reborn. The EP is a product of what the band has dubbed the “Covid Sessions." As further explained by bassist Cameron Dewald: "We were on track to do a bunch of touring etc to support our last album Pathogenic Automation (2020) but clearly and for obvious reasons that didn’t happen… So instead we stayed as busy as we could in 2020 and 2021, played a few shows and hashed out some new tunes. The cover for 'Dead Embyronic Cells' was originally for Metal Injections Slay At Home series, but we ended up holding onto it and found a suitable home for it on this EP." Pre-order Agony Reborn:
The idea for the band started sometime around 2006. After a couple demos and line-up changes, the first record Torturtorium was released independently in 2010. The line-up changed again for the sophomore LP Inner Supremacy, and was released independently in 2015. Gorgatron has completed multiple DIY tours all over the States, from north to south, east to west, and performed at multiple Metal Fests. You may have experienced Gorgatron if you were at Las Vegas Death Fest 8, Philadelphia Infest 3, Manitoba Metal Fest 2019, Slam Dakota Metal Fest, Topeka Metal Fest, Spring Bash Milwaukee, ‘The Road to GorgaMania’ Tour, Pathology and Pyrexias spring 2020 tour, ‘The Ultimate Midwest’ Tour, ‘Midwest Madness’ Tour, ‘Too Drunk For the Kumite Tour. Gorgatron joined the ranks of Extreme Management Group in 2017 alongside heavy hitters; Suffocation, Cattle Decapitation, Cryptopsy, Decrepit Birth, Disgorge, Rings of Saturn, Internal Bleeding and more. Note: Guitarist Neal Stein played on the EP, but is no longer with the band. Fierce Atmospheres is a now a Chicago based progressive metal act that first started in 2001 in Austin, Texas, USA. Their first demo, Gale Force, was a sneak peek into what the future would hold for the band. Through many member changes and studio sessions, the sound of the group took shape into what is now the current ‘direction’. Their subsequent studio hours and releases have translated to a tight, well rounded unit that has received stellar reviews worldwide. The band has also played many shows having opened for national artist such as Evergrey, Joe Lynn Turner, Immortal Guardian, The Three Tremors and many more. The latest record The Speed Of Dreams was mixed/mastered by Andy LaRocque of King Diamond and is the band’s strongest album to date. After a successful run to America’s East Coast in the summer of 2022, the next step for Fierce Atmospheres is to enter the studio and start pre-production on a new record while playing live in the midwestern United States. The band comment: "We are so excited to bring you, 'We Are Eternity'! This song really brings more of this story to the table and gives you great insight into who The Trinity is and what role they play in this narrative. Thank you to everyone involved with creating this and to you all for checking it out!" Formed in 2010 from unremarkable beginnings, A Wake In Providence diligently grew to become the renowned and otherworldly force they are today. Originally a heavier-than-your-average deathcore act, the band’s debut 2010 demo and 2012 debut EP Serpents saw them infusing a raw and ruthless take on traditional deathcore with contemporary metallic elements to make something sharp enough to cut its way through the thicket of bland, boring heavy music acts. While Serpents gained the band notoriety in their local area, it wasn’t until the release of their sophomore EP, Insidious, that the band went from prodigally talented to true rising stars in the heavy music community. Adding a liberal dose of downtempo deathcore to their instrumental stylings, Insidious earned the band global infamy and critical acclaim, as well as tours with some of the underground’s bigger names-including In Dying Arms, Extortionist and Lorna Shore, as well as several smaller solo runs along the East Coast. Never ones to remain complacent, A Wake In Providence grew once more in 2016, with the addition of Will Ramos (now with Lorna Shore), but also with their drastic stylistic change, omitting their penchant for low, slow downtempo deathcore in favour of a renewed focus on more aggressive, fast and furious traditional deathcore elements with a razor-sharp technical twist. Combining marvellous metallic riffs with crushing breakdowns and shrill, sinister vocals to create an intense onslaught unlike any other band in the heavy music scene, A Wake In Providence are vile enough to make the sewers look clean, and vicious enough to tear the still-beating heart out of the listener's chest. Now a quartet with new vocalist Adam Mercer and signing with the legendary Unique Leader Records, A Wake In Providence's status looks set to only rise further. A Wake In Providence are:

American metalcore outfit Pistacia revisit the heyday of emo with new single “It Was The Cat”10/9/2022 Boston’s Pistacia is bringing forth a new brand of metalcore with their debut EP “Edgy”. Through personal and poignant lyrics they confront relatable issues set to emotional and powerful music. So far, they have released a handful of singles, and the next one up is “It Was The Cat”, focusing on self-harm. Making music for people who are scared and voiceless is their passion and they are not afraid to get specific about what happens in the mind of the mentally ill. On this single, they offer hope and understanding and a flashback to the days when people used the explanation that “the cat did it” in reference to marks on their arms. The band explains the creation of the single: “The single began almost accidentally; Ben and Théo were in Florida on tour with their former band, exhausted from the road and performance, and aching to write some new music that would reflect the artistic changes they’d undergone as a result. Ben cracked away at that which he does best: writing filthy hardcore riffs and Théo took initiative to make as poppy a chorus arrangement as possible. Years later, the track was revived and Vic worked her magic, pouring her anguish and rage into finely tuned stanzas that packed punch. They entered a Berklee rehearsal room with sketches, with the makings of a metal banger, and left with the instantiation of their ardor”. Pistacia formed when vocalist Vic Gregg desired to be on stage instead of behind the merch booth. Fuelled by passion and a desire to realize her high school dreams, she learned how to scream and put the line-up together with her classmates. They started as a Pierce the Veil ensemble but later began writing originals. To date, they have released five singles, and are gearing up to release their EP in the fall. They promise that each of the tracks on it are full-fledged bangers that will provoke and challenge the listener. “It Was The Cat” is heavy in both lyrics and music and boasts sick breakdowns and the most 2007 chorus since MySpace reigned the internet. It's catchy and will have you dancing regardless of the dark imagery. It is recommended for fans of Pierce the Veil, Slipknot, and Bring Me the Horizon. “Edgy” is out on October 21, 2022.

American deathcore band Signs Of The Swarm release their new song and music video for 'Unbridled' today via their new label home Century Media Records. Purchase and stream the track, HERE, and watch the video, HERE. On the new single, Signs Of The Swarm state: "To commemorate our signing with Century Media, we wanted to offer something truly special – ‘Unbridled’. This track is a taste of everything that we have to offer, reaching for new levels of intensity and keeping what makes us SOTS. If you like riffs, blast beats, and breakdowns... don’t skip this one. Lyrically, we want to reach out to our fans from a different perspective in hopes that the song pulls you in and doesn’t let go. Channelling fear, aggression and defeat into a single track, 'Unbridled' is a violent and energetic piece that we expect you to bang your head to." Just last week, Signs Of The Swarm announced signing to their new label home Century Media Records stating: "For SOTS, 2021-2022 has been a time of growth and change. We released our latest record last year and knew that we had to hit the road hard. Since that time we’ve performed over 200 times in at least 15 countries, which gave us a very unique opportunity. The band went out searching for the perfect fit to match our vision, and once we met with the Century Media team it was an instant sync. We chose this time to announce our partnership - after we completed our hefty tour schedule around the globe and joined forces with GoodFight MGMT - so that we can bring you the very best that we have to offer. With that said, we are pleased to release our latest single and music video, 'Unbridled' to celebrate this next chapter of Signs of the Swarm! With a bright future in sight, we are proud to be a part of the Century Media family and cannot wait to show you more of what we have been up to." Pittsburgh’s Signs Of The Swarm aren’t just any band, they’re a once-in-a-generation beacon that radiates the sounds that surrounded them, preserving history by reframing it. On their fourth LP, Absolvere, they’re bleak without being blackened, smashing without being slam, and downtempo as a choice rather than a stylistic confine. And as many of their deathcore peers experiment with adding singing, often gruff in tone, they add a more ethereal style that soothes. The band contrasts that with some of the most brutal moments in their eight-year career, with riffs more punishing than pensive and a rhythm section that frames them in creatively cacophonic ways. Above it all, they’re utilising vocalist David Simonich's monstrous range in a much fuller capacity than on his debut, 2019's Vital Deprivation. That transitional album found the band experimenting to re-find their footing, which here lands on solid ground through the addition of guitarist Jeff Russo, a former bandmate of Simonich’s Improvidence. The proof is in the placing, with Absolvere landing at #15 on “Current Hard Music Albums,” #21 on “Top New Artist Albums” and #139 on “Heatseekers.” Indeed, sometimes contrast can be a perfect complement, but more often that effect is achieved when paired with something more in-line. So it is when Ben Duerr (Shadow of Intent) and Alex Erian (Despised Icon) join the band for growls and shouts, where Signs Of The Swarm filter their guests’ bands through their own sound. Instead of taking away from their identity, it expands it. They’re steadily expanding their global reach, too. In the few short months since Absolvere’s release, Signs Of The Swarm have toured with the likes of Fit for an Autopsy, Born of Osiris and Shadow of Intent. Forthcoming domination campaigns of Europe and Australia will be added to their tenure with Aborted, Lorna Shore, Brand of Sacrifice and more. Forget the signs, the swarm is already here, and it’s growing larger and louder every day. TWITTER | FACEBOOK | INSTAGRAM |
