Global Metal Apocalypse (GMA) Awards 2021 - Metal Release Of The Year (by country / territory)8/1/2022 So we now know who the winners of the GMA Awards 2021 were, but to wrap up the event in it's entirety and bid farewell to 2021 and usher in 2022, we must turn to the last bunch of awards - 'Metal Release By Country / Area'. Usually these would include the flag of the band's nation, but given the events in Afghanistan this year among other political turmoil, I felt it would be prudent to forgo any flags and just list the winners.... so without further ado here are the.... |

American blackened death crew Goreskincoffin unveil lyric video for "Elegy For Mankind's Failings"
28/12/2021
Californian blackened death lords Goreskincoffin have launched a lyric video for, "Elegy for Mankind's Failings." The song is the newest single off the band's forthcoming third full-length album, Release My Suffering. Stream the lyric video for "Elegy for Mankind's Failings" now at youtu.be/dCCcrL3JoaY.
"Release My Suffering" comes following a brutal year of writing, rehearsing, recording and shows, and features seven furious tracks of blackened death/grind. The album will be out on January 14 via Funeral Goat Records. Pre-order and listen to tracks “Plague Father” and “Wrath and Ruin” at this location.
Keyboards and Orchestra performed by Lou Kelley. Release My Suffering was recorded and mixed by Hunter Peterson at Desidarius Recordings. Album artwork by Chadwick St. John.
Originally formed in 2011 from the ashes of other local death metal groups, Goreskincoffin started as a three-piece featuring Dean Rice (drums), Dustin Stark (guitar / vocals), and Justice Reckis (bass). The trio wrote and released their debut album, Corpse Filled Caskets, that same year. The album drew influences from black and death metal bands, both classic and modern.
Following a six-year hiatus, Goreskincoffin returned with the addition of Cody Winter on vocals. The band released their second full-length, Shattered Conceptions Ov Reality, in 2017. Guitarist Randy Hoofard joined the fold shortly thereafter. In 2018, the band released the Cursed Paths EP.
Goreskincoffin then amicably parted ways with Hoofard, a move that saw Reckis pick up guitar duties and the addition of new bassist Edgar Castro-Salazar. The newly invigorated line up released the “Wrath and Ruin” single in 2021 before going to work on their newest burnt offering, Release My Suffering.

Progressive metalcore outfit Silvercord from Dallas, Texas are bringing forward their brand new single 'Glider' via Famined Records, and is now available on various music streaming platforms. Silvercord are showcasing their complex, virtuosic, and experimental compositional talents within the track.
- Stream / purchase 'Glider' here: https://sym.ffm.to/glider
In regards to the song, the band stated:-
"These past couple years have been a wild ride for us and everybody else. Sometimes it's hard to see a tomorrow when you're faced with so many struggles. This song describes what it's like to constantly go through the ups and downs of life. Just when it feels like you're soaring, you come crashing down again."
Formed in 2016, Silvercord is a 5-piece progressive metalcore group from Dallas, Texas. With influences ranging from Northlane and Architects to heavier acts such as Vildhjarta, the band aims to create their own unique sound to provide fans with a new listening experience. After self-releasing their debut EP "Flora" in 2018, the band has recently signed to Famined Records for their next release, which will raise the bar even higher. The five track sophomore EP "Umbral" was recorded by Carson Slovak and Grant McFarland at Atrium Audio (Erra, August Burns Red) and will release in 2022.
American metalcore outfit Coldharbour drop title track from their debut album 'Soul Tempest'
13/12/2021
Coming in with a banger, Cincinnati metalcore outfit Coldharbour are premiering the official music video visualizer for their brand-new single 'Soul Tempest' via Hollowed Records / Kontrolla Music Group. 'Soul Tempest' is the title track to the band's upcoming debut full-length record, set to be released on March 4th, 2022.
- Stream / purchase 'Soul Tempest' here: https://hllwd.kntrlla.xyz/soultempest
In regards to the new single, the band states:-
"Taking place as the focal point of the album and therefore the title track, 'Soul Tempest' represents the dichotomy of authoritative powers during the US 2020 Presidential Race. This also serves as the third part of the story between “The Rhetorician” and “The Individual.” No matter the side of the political spectrum you’re on, ultimately those in power are fighting for just that: power. With promises of making the world a better place, the governing parties are ultimately watching out for their own interests and will have no problems making bloodshed of those participating in this “democratic” process. 'Soul Tempest' reflects the storm called “democracy” that ensues every 4 years in the United States."
Originating in Cincinnati, OH, Coldharbour is a 4-piece metalcore band. Originally the band started as a for-fun “serious” side project from some of the members from BROJOB. Since then, Coldharbour has taken its own melodic, yet devastatingly heavy form. Progressive roots in percussion and bass compliment the ambient guitar leads, coupled with ferocious rhythm guitar cadences. To match this orthodox energy comes booming gutturals, shrieking highs, and eruptive hardcore-rooted screaming, with a touch of haunting clean vocals to match.
For Fans Of: Whitechapel, Born Of Osiris, Currents
New Jersey six-piece Fit For An Autopsy — Joseph Badolato [vocals], Patrick Sheridan [guitar], Timothy Howley [guitar], Will Putney [guitar], Peter Blue Spinazola [bass], & Josean Orta Martinez [drums] — will release their sixth album Oh What the Future Holds on January 14 via Nuclear Blast. Pre-order it here.
Now, the band has shared the video for "In Shadows." Watch the video, directed by Eric Richter, here.
The band states:-
"This song is an abstract journey through darkness, where one is eventually able to discover their true self through the lowest and lost points in life. "You are the beginning and end of your own suffering."
Michigan deathcore outlet And Hell Followed With are back and teamed up with extreme metal vocalist Duncan Bentley to bring forward their new brutal offering, 'The Well' via Hollowed Records / Kontrolla Music Group. The new single is out worldwide on various music streaming platforms along with its official visualizer premiering on YouTube.
- Stream / purchase 'The Well' here: https://hllwd.kntrlla.xyz/thewell
Altruism is a very uncommon trait in human beings. Humanity has always struggled to make ethical or moral decisions based on our own interpersonal desires. The track 'The Well' represents humanity’s struggle between morality and personal gain. Often leaving us in a state of depression and self harm, it can be almost impossible to climb out of 'The Well'.
For Fans Of: Whitechapel, The Black Dahlia Murder, Oceano
Founded in 2007, And Hell Followed With was moulded in the golden era of Deathcore. Influenced by hardcore and melodic death metal bands alike, And Hell Followed With blended the best of both genres to create their own unique approach to the genre. The bands second effort, Proprioception, still stands true as one the staples of American Deathcore. After years of meticulous writing, And Hell Followed With now offers their third full length record, Quietus.
Forever seeking to influence and help shape the face of the genre, And Hell Followed With will continue to push the boundaries of Deathcore.
Once Human is just coming back from their long awaited tour in US with Cradle Of Filth and the new video / single "Cold Arrival" is their gift to the fans joining them in those crazy times on that tour! With “Cold Arrival” Once Human release their third single from the upcoming new studio album "Scar Weaver", hitting the streets on February 11, 2022 on Ear Music. The song is written in memory of a friend of the band.
Here is a quote from Max Karon:
"In the beginning of the pandemic, we as a band lost someone very near and dear to us. Being around Jared was our mutual tether to healthy habits and personal empowerment. He was personable, fun, and a constant source of wisdom. To us, he felt like a permanent, immutable fixture in our lives. He left us suddenly and without warning. These last eighteen months have been a solemn reminder that the lives we lead and the people we know are not immortal. The acknowledgment of that harsh reality is 'Cold Arrival'." -
The video for "Cold Arrival" was shot on the Lustmord and Tourgasm tour in October 2021 and was directed and edited by Thomas Crane of KillDevil Films. It features additional fan footage.
Once Human’s "Scar Weaver" album, pieced together over the last two years, represents a massive step forward for the band. Blessed (or perhaps cursed) with plenty of additional time during the last year’s lockdown situation, the band has been able to refine and redefine their sound, inspired by a sudden creative surge from latest recruit Max Karon. The result is a gloriously idiosyncratic modern metal record, with Hart’s career-best vocal performance as just one of its dazzling revelations. With Once Human’s most intense and explosive music to work with, the singer has pushed herself to new heights, showcasing a vastly expanded vocal range in the process.
