Swedish heavy progressive band Vokonis have announced that drummer Emil Larsson has left the band and replaced by Peter Ottoson. The band commented: "Emil has decided to leave Vokonis. There are no bad feelings involved. Emil felt done with the band and wanted to leave the position for a person that would feel love for the songs and the band. The new record we recorded in 2018 will be Emil's last contributions to the band. We are of course incredibly sad by his decision, but that is life. We are excited to welcome Peter as our new drummer." More information on the new album will be announced in the next few months! The nine tracks embody a metallic hardcore aesthetic, full of discord and brutality yet still melodic and charming. The chaotic influences of bands like Converge and Botch mix seamlessly with shredding guitar solos from Slayer, Keith Moon-ish pounding drums, and maniac vocals reminiscent of Pig Destroyer and Cattle Decapitation.

Fusing together elements of electro, hip-hop and chest-pounding breakdowns, the quintet has released their latest single and music video "Piecefull." "'Piecefull' is about pretenders," says vocalist Wesley Merritt. "Those that will pretend to be there for you and have your back as long as things are going well for them, and what happens to them once they've been exposed. We take loyalty very seriously, loyalty is everything." "Piecefull" starts with Merritt acting as his own hype man before launching into a full-on lyrical beatdown. The video was directed by Josh Emerick and Ross Thiesen, shot in a Columbus, OH at The Continent. The World I Knew have been striving to create music without boundaries or limitations since their formation in 2014 and the release of their debut single "Fuck a 9-5."
