Tengger X Cavalry Recordings is pleased to present Liberation - a new Mongolian-language melodic metal force hailing from Hohhot, China. Liberation is thrilled to enter the North American metal scene with their new music video for the single "Hope". The emotional, stunning new video can be viewed now via YouTube here, or via the Alternative Press Facebook page here. Liberation's native Hohhot is a major northern city in China rich with nomadic history and culture. The band incorporates these themes in their music, but with a fresh, young twist. Liberation says:- "'Hope' is an emotional track with peaks and valleys. The song describes the struggle of a person going through desperation and depression, but then rising up to hope and enlightenment." Tengger X Cavalry Recordings founder Nature G says about the band:- "Liberation is newly formed, yet as soon as I heard the quality and energy behind their music, they caught my eye really quickly. They're very passionate, great composers, and they give a fresh take on their own Mongolian influence with metalcore and Linkin Park-like choruses and melody. Well balanced." "Hope" can be found on the new compilation album, Sound of the Raging Steppe, available now via Tengger X Cavalry Recordings - a new record label founded by Tengger Cavalry frontman Nature G to bring underground Chinese and Mongolian nomadic metal music to North American listeners. Sound of the Raging Steppe is available for download here via Bandcamp. The compilation also features music from five additional folk-influenced heavy metal bands, who have come together to provide a stampede of horseback-heavy sound - weaving an untold story of Chinese history that smashes stereotypes. In addition to the official release-news, the band also streamed the full-effort at the same locations. Stream the 'KAUNA' EP | Order your digital / physical copy on Bandcamp Formed in 2016 from the ashes of the band Harmoniks, NORVHAR is oriented towards pagan / folk / epic metal. It consists of six skilled musicians, all of them with stage experiences. Those six friends offer a music which is inspired, epic, melodic, but which also makes you want to drink beers until the end of times. Vastly inspired by Tolkien’s universe, but also by Nordic mythology, the texts are dense and deep, filled with adventures and battles, with mystical tales and latent alcoholism. The folk melodies, sometimes played on the keyboard, sometime on the flute or on acoustic instruments, intermingle with powerful and sharp guitars, all punctuated by intense bass and battle-like drums. The vocals, straight out of the plains of Valhalla are calling the warriors to battle by their unquenchable fire. NORVHAR is going to release an album at the beginning of 2019. Abyssic is a unique symbiosis of atmospheric approaches in funeral death/doom, with black and prog influences. The signature is enhanced by orchestrations with Mellotron, Minimoog, and upright bass. Abyssic is a result of a collaboration between Memnock (Susperia), Elvorn (Susperia), and André Aaslie (Funeral, Images At Twilight, Gromth, Profane Burial), and together with Asgeir Mickelson (ex-Borknagar, Ihsahn), they recorded the debut album A Winter's Tale in February 2016 for Osmose Productions. Later in 2016, Tjodalv (Susperia, ex-Dimmu Borgir, Old Man's Child) and Makhashanah (AKA Henriette Bordvik - Asagraum [live], ex-Sirenia) joined Abyssic, and together with Memnock, Elvorn, and Aaslie, they bring you the Abyssic darkness with album #2, High The Memory. I won’t talk any further on the reasons, but it has been a pleasure spending the last couple of years in the Devilment camp, and being a part of writing the music I am most proud of in my career. Thanks to all the fans, and all involved over the years!" Whilst the drummer vacancy will remain one to keep an eye on, in the mean time the Suffolk crew have brought Chris Casket on to fill in bassist duties. Both Chris and Matt know each other from playing in the WW2 Black Metal band Eastern Front, as for Devilment the merry-go-round of musicians carries on, as only just last year Anabelle Iratni took on the female vocals and keyboard duties, replacing the departing Lauren Francis. It so happens that Chris taking on bass duties comes as a result of Nick Johnson leaving in 2017. Devilment had this to say about Chris joining the band:- "Joining us for the first time on stage this weekend (16th Feb) will be our new(ish) bass player Chris Casket. Chris has been with us for the past year working patiently behind the scenes with the band, so HRH Metal Birmingham will be his live debut. So, welcome aboard the Devilment express another creature from the depths of Suffolk our bassist and friend, Mr. Casket!" https://www.facebook.com/devilmentcorps/ Canadian Industrial Groove one-man project Dark Years From Now to release debut album on 8th March14/2/2019 Based in Vancouver BC, this sonically diverse act is the brainchild of multi-instrumentalist Dan Potter. Using heavy barrages of thrashing poly-rhythmic riffage to whip up intensity levels, DYFN descends into abstracted darkness and finds a sonic blueprint that’s filled with endless possibilities. Guitars are driven to their most extreme by incorporating experimental approaches in technique and composition serving as a perfect backdrop to the deep, chaotic experiences brought forth lyrically as dark riddles are wretched out with harrowing screams. The debut LP by Dark Years from Now was conceived to be a unique listening journey. Whether it’s the pulsating industrial metal edged aesthetic or the cathartic layers of electronic instrumentation, each track offers a world of intriguing sound and substance. Unafraid to take a non-linear approach, many of the songs are forged with abstract intent even using the words as yet another aural paintbrush, obscuring to reveal. Four of the eleven tracks are instrumental in nature providing more time for listeners in the churning abyss of variable perception. Dark Years from Now will release its self-titled debut on March 8, 2019. |
