Israeli progressive metal outfit Subterranean Masquerade this week unveils the details for their anxiously awaited new album, Mountain Fever. The band‘s fourth LP, and sixth overall release, marks the band‘s first record to see release through their new label home, Sensory Records, who this week unveils the album‘s cover art, track listing, and more. Subterranean Masquerade, which until recently was considered a cult studio project for fine taste followers, has transformed over the last two years into an exciting, colorful live act, mixing the traditions of heavy metal together with the aesthetics of world music performance, spiritual punk, and pure rock. Praised by music journalists all over Europe and beyond, the band has taken over the stages, showcasing a distinctly audacious execution of their complex songwriting while maintaining an almost magical grip on their audience, reviewed as rave parties for metalheads. Led by guitarist Tomer Pink, Subterranean Masquerade was previously fronted by Green Carnation vocalist Kjetle Nordhus and Novembers Doom‘s Paul Khur. Having officially revamped the line-up in 2018, the band now features a very tight knit, fully group of musicians hand-picked from the upper echelons of Israel‘s prog scene. Mountain Fever is the band‘s first album to be created by this expansive seven-member line-up. Boasting ten new songs which encompass nearly fifty-five minutes of material, Mountain Fever sees Subterranean Masquerade continuing to push the balance between pioneering experimentalism to their own take on modern pop culture and its manifestation in the Middle East. Revealing an album composed of African and Balkan brass sections, Arabic violins, extended vocal techniques, and several special guest appearances, the band explores radio friendly hooks that emerge out of heavy riffs and polychromatic arrangements. The record features several notable guest contributions, including drums from Matan Shmuely (Orphaned Land), bouzouki and lead guitars on "Mångata" by Idan Amsalem (Orphaned Land), and vocals on "Somewhere I Sadly Belong" by Melechesh Ashmedai (Melechesh) and Jackie Hole (The Super Things). Subterranean Masquerade recorded Mountain Fever Golan Heights, Israel, the album engineered by David Castillo. The record was sent to Fascination Street in Örebro, Sweden (Leprous, Katatonia, Opeth) where it was Mixed by Jens Bogren and mastered by Tony Lindgren and completed with artwork and layout by Costin Chioreanu of Twilight 13 Media. Imari Tones are a Christian heavy metal band from Japan, where majority of people believe in Buddhism and Christianity is very scarce. The band was formed in 2004 but the real start was in 2008, when they declared themselves as “The first Christian metal band from Japan”. Since then, Imari Tones toured in and out of Japan, while making many albums independently. The band play old school metal music inspired by bands from 1980’s, such as Van Halen, Judas Priest, and Japanese bands like Loudness. But their music is fairy diverse and sometimes wanders into progressive territory, making it inevitable for listeners to compare them to prog bands such as Rush and YES. One of their goals is to combine Christianity and Bushido, the Samurai spirit, because they believe they can believe in Jesus Christ without losing their identity as Japanese. That’s why they play Christian music with Japanese traditional taste, which puts them in a very unique position both musically and culturally. Imari Tones always say their “roll” is that of a bridge. A spiritual and cultural bridge between Japan and the world. A lot of people in the world are interested in Japanese pop culture. On the other hand there are so many people in Japan who have never heard of Jesus. Imari Tones are trying to reach both groups of people. They show the world what the Japanese spirit is like, while introducing Christianity to Japanese audience. Imari Tones are:
