Israeli female fronted thrash-death metal band Chugun unveil the cover artwork (above) and album release date! The long awaited album "Virus" will be released on June 30th via Sliptrick records.

Chugun was forged in Tel Aviv, Israel in 2010. The word "Chugun" means Cast Iron in Russian, which describes exactly the blunt aggression of their music, combining the speed of old school Thrash / Death Metal with the grooves of modern Metal. The band released their debut album, entitled "Virus" in 2015, and it got a warm reception and positive reviews from bloggers and webzines worldwide.

Long awaited album "Dark Worlds Collide" will be released on June 30th via Sliptrick records!

Berserker is a melodic metal band from Vilnius, founded on the 7th of March, 2009. The name of the band is bound to the Viking era; Berserk (berserker) – is known from historic tales as a fearless Scandinavian warrior.  Bands songs also reflect inner and outer battles. Inner fights are personal emotions,  mixed feelings. Outer fights are social injustice, industrialization, destruction of the wild nature.

Berserker vision – music, which combines epic melodies, apocalyptic lyrics, strong and expressive vocals to bring every listener to his own unearthly, magical, fantastic reality

Berserker often plays various gigs in Lithuanian and foreign clubs, festivals, charitable events. Countries visited so far: Latvia, Estonia, Belarus and Poland.

In the 2014 the band participated in a project “Muzyczne Rodowody”, with a result of a CD with mix of local music, which included Berserkers "W jedności nasza siła”.

Album “Dark Worlds Collide” was recorded, mastered and mixed in 2015 by Rimtautas Piskarskas from “Muzikos Laboratorija”, Vilnius based recording studio. Album features 7 songs and 2 interludes.

MEMENTO MORI
Out September 23!

Get a first taste of the new album HERE.

--

“Mortality closes in.
Evils of fanatic religion.
21st century imperialism.
Destruction campaign against the earth.
Immortal idols pass away.
Cancer in our minds.
In our way of life.
In the veins of those we honor the most.
It is in our darkest times we realize how swiftly life can end.
We all die.
Everything dies.
Memento Mori.”

Picture

In a time when threats of religious hostility and environmental decay loom heavily over the world, we have no choice but to acknowledge the inevitability of death. Not only does it spread fear, stigma and hatred, but it also reminds us of the grasp our own mortality has on us. Death is just a heartbeat away and our fear of the unknown is apparent now more than ever. Thus the title "Memento Mori" (Latin: remember that you must die).

The heavy rock powerhouse Sahg have since their beginnings in 2004 delivered grade-A hard rock of the fist bumping and heavy-leaded sort. When elements hoisted from the depths of doom converge with the realm of progressive rock, one can draw parallels to greats such as Black Sabbath, Pentagram and Mastodon. Sahg procure a unique blend of the aforementioned while resting firmly on a heavy metal base. The crisp sound on their fifth and latest effort "Memento Mori" defies the idea of simple genre categorization in favour of delivering a damn good heavy metal album!

UK's Dreamwaves announce label signing & release date

British Progressive Metallers Dreamwaves are set to release their brilliant debut EP, “Elements” on August 15th through indie label Infectious Sounds. Label owner Phil Gavin Bennett had this to say on the signing:

“Infectious Sounds are pleased to announce the signing of Brighton based Tech Metal band Dreamwaves, featuring ex members of Callista & Asperitas! The new EP will be available for pre-orders very soon!”

Guitarist David Lovejoy stated:

"We're extremely happy to put this EP out via Infectious sounds. Its been in the works for over a year now and we can't wait for everyone to hear it!"

Dreamwaves is an instrumental progressive metal band from the south coast of the UK. Although new to the scene, they are already making an impact; playing shows with the likes of Cambion, Exist Immortal and Shields, to name a few. Dreamwaves effortlessly blend an impressive technicality, with a broad appreciation for melody and accessibility into their music. Incorporating staple metal sounds, with classical elements and an underlined nod to contemporary pop.

Resting somewhere between the instrumental dynamics of Cynic, SiKTh & Animals As Leaders; Dreamwaves’s debut EP, “Elements”, flies between crushing heaviness, high octane guitar histrionics and layered ambience. Tracks like “Nines” scream out of the stereo with an exceptional urgency and charm, while “Echo” showcases a flirtation with jazz-infused melodies and borderline Converge level aggression, while the piano lead “Breeze” evolves and churns with masterful skill.

While a young band, Dreamwaves have worked hard to push the limitations of their genre. With a strong EP firmly under their belts and with dates lining up, the young quartet are one to watch for fans of mind bending musical ingenuity

Body Count (featuring Ice-T) sign world-wide deal with Century Media Records

18/6/2016

Picture

The highly controversial and iconic, Body Count (featuring Ice-T on vocals), has officially inked a world-wide deal with Century Media Records and will begin tracking their highly anticipated new, full-length offering with Will Putney (Miss May I, Upon A Burning Body). Putney also tracked the group’s last effort, Manslaughter, which caught the entire genre’s immediate attention with its sheer abrasiveness and unabashed brutality.

Ice- T states:

"It’s cool to be a member of The Century Label Group alongside such a lot of well-established metal artists. With our last album Manslaughter, we tested the waters and got a great response from the fans and critics. Now it’s time to go kill it and make a more aggressive album and keep the Body CountT style intact. Producer, Will Putney (Miss May I, Upon A Burning Body), is like a member of the band and has an excellent ear. He’s a great producer because he captures the true essence of our band’s sound. Once we are done writing the song it’s his job to step in and make it sound better. He helps move the record in the right direction, were anticipating working with him again. “Once the records done, were going to shoot a lot of music videos and perform spot-dates on certain tests, etc.”

This is the group that dropped hip-hop attitude into heavy metal and hard rock music before Rage Against The Machine, Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park and Hollywood Undead made records, despite nary an ounce of rapping over their mosh-pit inducing songs. Body Count is a full on metal band, fronted by a legendary rapper who drops knowledge, violent stories and verbal middle fingers, with a bellowing growl descended from some of punk rock’s most pissed off screamers.

Ice-T and co-founder / lead guitarist Ernie C have perfected their mix of thrash, punk and bottom heavy doom across five albums, hitting a zenith with the unstoppable Manslaughter, backed by bassist/songwriter Vincent Price (with Body Count now for nearly 15 years), drummer Ill Will (joined in 2009) and new guitarist Juan Garcia of Evildead. They embody the monumental Southern California tradition of street born punk bands like Suicidal Tendencies combined with the aggressive aural napalm of Slayer. From the punk bite of their gold debut through the metallic triumph of Born Dead (1994), Violent Demise: The Last Days (1997) and Murder 4 Hire (2006), to the all encompassing Body Count vibe of Manslaughter, which merges the strengths of the band’s entire catalogue.

Driven by the same iconoclastic, anti-authoritarian and pimp-turned-poet mentality that made Ice-T a gangster rap pioneer, a platinum artist from the streets and a household name in film and television before “rapper / actor” was a commonly used term, Body Count flipped the script with the same tenacity when they bum-rushed heavy metal. The first rumblings of Body Count were heard in the eponymous song unleashed on Ice-T’s gigantic O.G.: Original Gangster album in 1991, which hit stores just two months after Ice’s first major movie role in the modern crime classic, “New Jack City.” The fierce thrash of the “Body Count” anthem put people on notice that the Megadeth cap Ice-T wore on MTV wasn’t for show: aggressive heavy metal and hardcore is in his blood.

Epica unveil the track-list for their forthcoming album "The Holographic Principle"

18/6/2016

Dutch symphonic metal stars Epica announced the release of their forthcoming record 'The Holographic Principle' (September 30th via Nuclear Blast), two weeks ago. Now the artwork has been revealed it is time for the band to announce the track-listing of this highly-awaited album. It racks up as follows:

Picture

01. Eidola
02. Edge Of The Blade
03. A Phantasmic Parade
04. Universal Death Squad
05. Divide And Conquer
06. Beyond The Matrix
07. Once Upon A Nightmare
08. The Cosmic Algorithm
09. Ascension - Dream State Armageddon
10. Dancing In A Hurricane
11. Tear Down Your Walls
12. The Holographic Principle - A Profound Understanding Of Reality

The band commented:

"The Holographic Principle deals with the near future wherein virtual reality has taken off and allows people to create their own virtual worlds which can't be distinguished from "reality as we know it". This raises the question whether our current reality is a kind of virtual reality on itself, a hologram. This implies the existence of a higher reality which we currently do not have access to. The lyrics challenge you to think out of the box, to reconsider everything you thought to know for sure and to be open-minded towards recent revolutions in science. Fasten your seat belts and get ready for a ride as nothing appears to be what it seems in our holographic universe."

Norway's Crest Of Darkness extend relationship with My Kingdom Music

18/6/2016

Fans of Norway's Crest Of Darkness will have seen a short teaser video appear on Facebook this week showing frontman and founder Ingar Amlien signing what appears to be a contract, and today Italian label My Kingdom Music confirmed that it was indeed a new recording contract, and that the veteran Norwegian Extreme Metallers would be continuing their collaboration with the label for the release of their next album.

Commenting on the renewal of their long-standing relationship, which started thirteen years ago, My Kingdom Music had this to say:-

"We are absolutely delighted to be able to continue with, and build on, the strong relationship we have always had with Crest Of Darkness. We first started working together back in 2003, and we have watched the band develop its style and sound over the years, and we are very excited to be releasing their seventh full-length album towards the end of this year. We have no doubts whatsoever that the new album will push the borders of their take on extreme metal to new limits. Crest Of Darkness' personal mix of Black, Thrash and Heavy Metal promises to make this the most mature and powerful album the band has ever released".

Amlien himself gave some hints at what fans could expect from the album, as well as echoing the label's sentiments about their working relationship:-

"Over the years Crest Of Darkness and My Kingdom Music seem to have grown side by side, so I'm very happy to be able to continue working with a label that understands both our music and our vision, and with whom we have always been able to have an open and constructive dialogue. Particularly as the new album is especially important to me as I've put a hell of a lot of myself and my emotions into it. I've always felt that when we are on stage, we create a sort of magic, and this time we have been able to transfer that magic to the recordings. You could say this is my personal Black Mass.

We are not going to reveal too much about the album at this stage except to say that it is currently being recorded at the MLP Studio with Nils Harald Mæhlum at the helm. We worked with Mæhlum on our first albums, and we recently got together again when we recorded last year's "Evil Messiah" EP, and it felt natural so we decided to stick with him for the new album, and it's proven to be a very good decision".

The teaser video of Ingar Amlien signing the contract can be seen on the band's YouTube channel here

For the uninitiated, Steel Panther was formed in 2000 and is Michael Starr (lead singer), Satchel (guitarist), Lexxi Foxx (bass) and Stix Zadinia (drums). The fearsome foursome are not stopping anytime soon. “Our drive to bring heavy metal back has not lessened,” concludes Michael Starr. “It’s actually gotten stronger. We’re not going to stop. I look forward to our continued world domination.”

Last in Australia for Soundwave 2015, the band played main stages at the festival and drew massive numbers to their bombastic set, simultaneously offending and salaciously delighting all in attendance. In recent times, they have almost entirely sold out their UK tour, which included Wembley Stadium and played main stage at Download Festival.

Zephyra who are a four piece metal band from Borås, Sweden, have inked a deal with Inverse Records.

With Åsa's distinctive female vocals, Zephyra provides a wide sound in the metal genre, with the roots in Thrash and Melodic Death Metal. Since the official start back in 2011, the band has released a couple of EP's, played shows around Sweden, done live shows on the radio, and frequently been aired in American and British radio shows.

After signing a record deal in 2014, the debut album 'Mental Absolution' was released world wide on Wormholedeath label. The album received positive reviews and was followed up by two official videos.

The second full length album 'As The World Collapses', was recorded in the last quarter of 2015, and will be released on August 5, 2016 via Inverse Records. With the new album, Zephyra wants to show a bigger and more atmospheric sound than before, heavy and rhythmic, with keyboards and Åsas full ranged, diverse vocals. A first video "Words Of A Demagogue" from the new album, directed by Greenworks in Gothenburg, was released in June 2016. The video is available here.

With 2 European tours coming up, and a second video in the works, Zephyra has a loaded schedule for this fall.
