Faroese doomsters Hamferð have released a live recorded video of "Stygd", the 2nd track from their new album, Tamsins likam, released on Metal Blade earlier this year. The song is part of the recorded album release show on March 17th, 2018 at the old Sjonleikarahusið theatre in Torshavn, Faroe Islands. To watch the clip, please visit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pLtwVGB7f60

Tamsins likam was played in its entirety, as well as a selection of older songs, including "Odn" - the band's very first song, which, although being a live staple, was never released.

Singer Jon Aldara comments:-

"This concert was a meticulous production in regards to performance, sound and lighting, and we felt it was the perfect opportunity to record it properly. It's a great feeling to have a live recording of Hamferð that does not come from an iPhone or from a festival production that we had little to no control over. We took everything in our own hands and went the whole nine yards with a brilliant crew, well-considered stage design and all the high-end equipment we could get our hands on. Luckily, I really think it shows!"

Hamferð will play a selection of shows in Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands in October:

Oct. 2 - Stuttgart, Germany - Club Zentral (w. Egonaut)
Oct. 3 - Leipzig, Germany - Hellraiser  (w. Egonaut)
Oct. 4 - Hamburg, Germany - Bambi Galore  (w. Egonaut)
Oct. 5 - Paderborn, Germany - Metal Inferno Festival
Oct. 6 - Saint Georges, Belgium - From Dusk til Doom 4
Oct. 7 - Tilburg, Netherlands - Little Devil

Additionally, Hamferð will head out on a tour of Scandinavia in December, notably playing Sweden for the first time in their 10-year long career. See below for dates:

Hamferð tour dates w/ Svartmalm

Dec. 5 - Kobenhavn, Denmark - Beta 2300
Dec. 6 - Odense, Denmark - Posten
Dec. 7 - Goteborg, Sweden - Sticky Fingers
Dec. 8 - Oslo, Norway - Revolver
Dec. 9 - Trondheim, Norway - Hjorten Scene

Japan's Crossfaith release "Make A Move" music video

14/9/2018

Japanese metal juggernauts Crossfaith have released their brand new video "Make A Move." The track comes from the band's latest album, EX_MACHINA, out now via UNFD and streaming on Spotify and Apple Music. A fast-paced and blistering adventure that transports listeners to a dystopian future, EX_MACHINA features cameos from Enter Shikari frontman Rou Reynolds and industrial hip hoppers Ho99o9. It can be purchased online at: unfd.lnk.to/ex_machina.

On the new video, lead singer Kenta Koie shares:-

"This video was filmed while we were on our summer European tour, which was a great time for us. When you watch it you can really feel the sort of energy we put into our live shows! And we can't wait to be back in the UK and Europe for our headlining tour this month - check out Make A Move and get ready for it!"

EX_MACHINA, the new album from Crossfaith, is a concept album set in an alternative near future in which the ruling class, known as Angels, maintain their world through artificial intelligence and other technology, which dehumanises people and effectively turns them into drones - as explained in the opening title track, "Deus Ex Machina."

The other 12 songs featured on the album represent the voice of the resistance - in the form of underdogs known as Demons. Kenta was inspired to include these figures by Devilman Crybaby, particularly on the Slipknot-esque "Catastrophe," the frantic, bloodcurdling "The Perfect Nightmare," and the epic assault of "Daybreak," rather than because they wanted to provide a comment on religion.

"There's no particular religious message," clarifies Ken. "In order to explore the dualism of humans, we decided to include Angels and Demons, which are opposing elements just like fire and water."

"Angels aren't necessarily good and demons aren't necessarily bad," he explains. "The most important theme is that we should never stop questioning the world around us."

EX_MACHINA is a relentless album that strives for the listener's attention, and is unquestionably the heaviest that Crossfaith have put their name to since forming in their native Osaka in 2006.

Since their inception, Crossfaith have been on the edge of a fusion of rock, metal, electronica and big ideas on their albums; and the edge of euphoria with their live shows. EX_MACHINA is the album on which they walk that fine, fiery line more skillfully and seismically than ever.

Crossfaith is back with EX_MACHINA, now available for purchase here: unfd.lnk.to/ex_machina.

Finland's Sacrificum Carmen set release date for new Saturnal album; reveal first track

14/9/2018

Picture

Saturnal Records has set November 16th as the international release date for Sacrificium Carmen's highly anticipated second album, Hermetica. If the band's critically acclaimed Ikuisen Tulen Kammiossa debut displayed the band as a serious contender to be reckoned with in years to come, then the follow-up Hermetica shall prove that Sacrificium Carmen are ready to be spoken of amongst esteemed countrymen like Horna, Baptism, Sargeist, Kadotus, and Behexen.

Hailing from the ever-fertile Finnish black metal scene, Sacrificium Carmen both embody their home country's prevailing underground idiom and offer a unique, diabolical twist to it. Founded in 2009 by vocalist Hoath Cambion and guitarist Advorsvs, the band draws their inspiration from the areas of occultism and Satanism exclusively. Sacrificium Carmen became active in 2012 with a full line-up, and soon released their debut demo, Sanansaattaja, in 2013 via Finnish underground label Spread Evil Productions. After the demo’s release, the band excelled in the areas of live shows and split releases, which all spread well around the underground scene. In 2014, Sacrificium Carmen started working on a debut full-length album, and the demo recordings led into a signing of a record deal with Saturnal Records for the debut album Ikuisen Tulen Kammiossa.

Following its release during the autumn of 2015, Ikuisen Tulen Kammiossa reaped widespread acclaim, and opinion was nearly unanimous: Sacrificium Carmen was a definite contender. Now, the band has further intensified and refined their sound with LP#2, Hermetica. Here you will find the same approach black metal with a melodic and atmospheric touch where all tendencies have been directed into very aggressive and sinister output, where Finnish black metal sound meets murky death metal sound as witnessed with orthodox black metal acts - but more vibrantly expressed, suggestive of the band's onstage confidence. Like its full-length predecessor, Hermetica presents eight equally dynamic tracks, dragging the listener to the sulphurous depths, with characteristic vapour trails of hypnotizing melody lingering above the tar-thick sewage. One could even say Sacrificium Carmen are more "rocking" here, and even more melodic simultaneously - but let it be known that the band are still exquisitely filthy and exceptionally well-recorded.

The more things change, the more they stay the same, or so the saying goes. Sacrificium Carmen keep the fires of Finnish black metal burning and hold high the torch with Hermetica! Feel the first burn with the new track "Kaitselmuksen Tähti" HERE, courtesy of Black Metal Promotion.

Today, the band is pleased to release the first trailer for this upcoming masterpiece. Check it out and find out more about the upcoming album: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8lqicsKRUC4

The band states:

"Starvation, fear, suffering and torment - all that the inhabitants of a tribe do not want to accept any-more. What have the gods ever done for them? It is time to get up and fight! "Against All Gods" is about the battle between humans and gods and the hope of living in peace one day. A fast song with a chorus that won't leave your ears any-more!"

For the first time in history the band had the chance to work with a real choir of 16 men just to multiply the already high dense catchy tunes on "Dawn Of The Five Suns"’. The musical substance is even more eclectic, ambient and illustrious than before. Thus creating a jungle-like ambience just to drag the listener into the myths and sagas of the Aztecs!

In addition to that Felipe Machado did it again and designed the fantastic and remarkable artwork. You might already know him from his artwork projects with Blind Guardian, Xandria, Rhapsody of Fire and of course from Kambrium‘s last album ‚The Elders’ Realm’.

"Dawn Of The Five Suns" was mostly recorded at the renowned Kohlekeller Studio under the direction of Kristian Kohlmannslehner.

England's Architects return with "Holy Hell" (out 9/11 via Epitaph); "Hereafter" video debuts as pre-orders launch

Architects, the Brighton-based outfit Kerrang! recently awarded the title of “Best British Live Band” to, The Independent dubbed “one of Britain’s finest metal bands” and The Guardian said feature “gloriously crafted anthems of defiance,” return with their eighth album, Holy Hell, on Nov. 9 via Epitaph Records. The band has simultaneously debuted the song and video for “Hereafter” (https://youtu.be/WqRYBWyvbRo), which was directed by Jeb Hardwick.

Holy Hell marks the band’s first release since the untimely passing of Tom Searle, Architect’s founding guitarist, principal songwriter and twin brother to drummer Dan. “In those first months after Tom’s death, I didn’t deal with it at all and I felt so unhappy and anxious,” Dan explains. “I’d ignored it and just tried to cope. But I knew that at some point, I had to learn from it.”

“It’s at times like that you ask yourself, ‘What is left?’” adds vocalist Sam Carter. “As a group of friends, we had to find something.”

“Ultimately, there were two choices,” Dan says. “Feel sorry for yourself, and believe the world to be a horrible place and let it defeat you. Or let it inspire us to live the life that Tom would have wanted us to live. I was very worried about people taking away a despondent message from the album. I felt a level of responsibility to provide a light at the end of the tunnel for people who are going through terrible experiences.”

Finding a way forward, the band spent six months from the Fall of 2017 through the Spring of this year recording what would become the 11-song album, with Dan and guitar player Josh Middleton handling production. “For me, broadly speaking Holy Hell is about pain: the way we process it, cope with it, and live with it,” Dan offers. “There is value in pain. It’s where we learn, it’s where we grow.”

Album pre-orders, including physical bundles featuring vinyl and various merchandise, as well as digital pre-orders offering instant downloads of “Hereafter” are available via the band’s website (architectsofficial.com).

The Lebanon's Phenomy issue recap from Wacken Open Air 2018

13/9/2018

Lebanese Metallers Phenomy - after winning the Metal Battle in Beirut on April 27th - performed at Wacken Open Air 2018. The band has issued their recap of their first-ever Wacken experience:

"It was nothing like we expected, We thought it was huge but no, it was fucking gigantic. we would have 30 min of walk between sections from our camping area to the main city or to other areas. The first experience arriving to Wacken was meeting the great Derrick Green from Sepultura, now how is that for an overture of the journey!? This guy is most probably the most down to earth guy we have ever met. He would be chilling and meeting people in the area modestly. It was a dream come true to meet a guy like him. This area also had promoters and media agents from all over the world, a huge exposure for any band really.

The same night a Hot dog grill started in the Artist area, and guess who was the grill master, yes, non other that Mr. Thomas Jensen himself, co founder of Wacken open air just in front of our eyes. He was cool enough to give us an hour of his time to talk about everything literally. He completely understands the struggle bands go through to play in Wacken and he is doing the best he can to help making it easier for them. "The coolest and awesome guy we ever met and it was such a honour to meet him". Not to forget that he was cool enough to mention Phenomy in his press conference while announcing the headliners for W:O:A 2019.

Our performance at Wacken Open Air is most probably the most important one so far.The crowd reaction was AMAZING!! the way they received us, after all the technical difficulties we faced, was awesome. we were humbled. Moshpits and headbang didn't stop during the 15 min we had left. 2 Lebanese flags were hang just before our eyes and that was a hell of a boost for us. We couldn't finish the last song but we had a awesome final applause from our friends and fans. We also had the pleasure to meet Promoters, bands and fans from all over the world.

It was a really unforgettable journey that we shared with wonderful people, special thanks to Mrs Monika Bremer, Promoter of the Wacken Metal Battle in the middle east and Mr Jörgen Lindström, Ambassor of Sweden In Lebanon for being there and supporting us."

Lebanese metal band Phenomy was formed by Loïc El Haddad and Rudy Bejjani in 2014. The band’s sound is a mixture of Thrash/Groove metal with Melodies, breakdowns and tribal/ethnic rhythms. Only three month after its formation, Phenomy performed in several local gigs and in the Persian Metal and Rock Festival in Cannakale/Troya city in Turkey alongside big names like Orphaned Land. Later on, Phenomy released their debut album “Once And For All” and received good feedbacks from magazines and webzines, before signing a distribution deal with Via Nocturna in 2017. In Summer 2017 Phenomy toured with Repay the eastern European countries (Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, Romania and Bulgaria). Furthermore the band supported Grave in Lebanon in October 2017. In July the band played at Metalhead Meeting 2018 in Romania and in august they took the stage at Wacken Open Air 2018. Phenomy released their second album “Threaten World Order” on March 2018.
