Soon to be released on vinyl by Nero One Records which has put out the excellent Ruin album, Shambles are another fine revelation. Thailand isn't the kind of place where you would expect such filthy death metal to foster. And yet, here we have a stunning album that's well written and produced, with excellent imagery and intent. A veteran band, Shambles will have been around since exactly two decades in 2017, and 'Realm of Darkness Shrine' is their first ever full length album. The songs are reminiscent of 'Mortal Throne of Nazarene' era Incantation and other newer 'dark death metal' acts such as Blood Incantation, Necros Christos, Grave Miasma, Cruciamentum, etc. The sludgy music is interspersed with blasting moments a la Disembowelment, and the whole affair is murky, unsettling and dark as a starless night. Asian bands are rising to prominence, from newer countries that too, and Shambles are one among them. SpiritBell has arisen from the ashes of Aiming High, an Accept tribute band that was popular in the underground of Western Hungary. Influenced by artists such as Metal Church, Savatage, Mercyful Fate, Iron Maiden, Accept, and Judas Priest, the Hungarian warriors soon came up with their own songs. After a demo, two EPs, a full length, and a cover album they had become a known band in the Hungarian underground metal scene. Due to the fact that the audience of their music declined in Hungary, SpiritBell started to have fewer shows which ultimately led the band to their demise in 2013… However, the passion remained. Despite these disappointments, SpiritBell remained restless and continued to produce new works in their workshop. The hard work of melting the Hungarian steel resulted in five brand new, darkness filled high-energy tunes. Unfortunately, the lack of interest locked these masterpieces in their cellars but we all know what they say about the chained beast… It eventually finds its way to the surface with an endless hunger for blood. In 2016, times were different, people started to show interest in ringing the SpiritBell again, awakening the ghost of the once promising underground act. Sándor “Pixi” Patak”, singer and founding member of the band, decided to heed the call and resurrected the group by finishing the songs which were written after the split up. Five heavy/doom metal masterpieces were put in their final form in the home studio of Pixi’s friend. Five deadly songs about war, ghosts and other mysterious topics. Pixi is currently working on creating a stable line up to perform these tunes along with the old favourites. The inner beast is unleashed in the image of sabre wielding horse archers of Hungary, who like a deadly wave from East is ready to spread their heavy / doom metal music all around the world. This release, originally planned as an EP, has been expanded with 5 extra tracks, bringing the playing time over 48 minutes! Check what the guitarist Zoltán Márkó and Sándor “Pixi” Patak said about Desert Ghost: Zoltán: “I have always loved these Eastern topics along with the atmosphere of the deserts. As the main riff was born the whole song appeared in my head so the rest came naturally. Maybe you can hear both of my favourite bands in this song, but I let you to identify them.” Pixi: “I didn’t have much trouble with the lyrics of this one because after I have heard Zoltán’s demo I immediately thought about writing a story about the ghost of the desert. If I remember correctly I finished the lyrics within two days, including the corrections. I really enjoyed this one!” Pre-Order the Album: http://www.witchesbrewthrashes.eu/shop/sites/ger/catalog.php?cat=19&startat=0&artnbr=2776&letter=&lang=de&art_sort=0#det2776 https://witchesbrewthrashes.bandcamp.com/album/guided-by-evil-light Witches Brew HOMEPAGE || FACEBOOK || SHOP BANDCAMP || YOUTUBE || SOUNDCLOUD Cimmerian Shade Recordings presents another stellar release, this time by Suffer Yourself from Poland playing captivating doom metal. This is instantly reminiscent of great bands like Catacombs (US), Hierophant, Skepticism, Thergothon, Dusk and even Disembowelment. The music is doleful, having a coarse quality and yet remains magnificent in its expression. Supremely atmospheric, it immediately transports you to a bleak and desolated area, where you find yourself reflecting upon the hopelessness of humanity. It also acts as a strange salve with its inherent melodies, a reminder of beauty against the backdrop of futility. The more you listen to this, the more you get sucked in. Proceed with caution. German Death metal high-flyers Deserted Fear have launched a new video for the song 'Face Our Destiny', taken off their upcoming album 'Dead Shores Rising'! Check it out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xbj5qJiKKSw&feature=youtu.be The band comments: “ With 'Face Our Destiny' we are proud to introduce you the first song of our upcoming album 'Dead Shores Rising'. The video production was rather exhausting for us again. However, it was a great experience to work with a wolfhound and to shoot under the surveillance of tough Thuringian steel workers, while gaining a deeper insight of their hard work. The video’s intention should be clear, as we wanted to create a contrast of nature and industry, to give people something to think about. Unfortunately it isn’t everywhere as green as here in Thuringia. We didn‘t want to miss out on action and blood as well, but we don’t want to give away too much. Just have a look yourself. Enjoy!“ 'Dead Shores Rising' will be released through Century Media Records on January 27th and will be available as Special Edition Digipak, Ltd. Edition Gatefold LP and as digital album. The Digipak includes a patch and two bonus tracks of which one features guest vocals of Tomas Lindberg (At The Gates) and the vinyl comes with LP booklet and poster. Deserted Fear have been crafting their vision passionately and merciless since 2008. Their debut album 'My Empire' (2012) created a bit of a stir in the scene and they are on their way to become one of the most important forces in the European metal scene. Deserted Fear combine the sound of Swedish death metal with US old school death metal to create their very own, modern sound, without losing heaviness and authenticity. Their last album 'Kingdom of Worms', which was recorded in June and July 2014 once more at Eisensound Studio in Eisenberg (Thuringia / Germany) under the knife of guitarist Fabian Hildebrandt, was released in October 2014. Mixing and Mastering duties have been handled by legendary Dan Swanö (Edge Of Sanity, Bloodbath, Witherscape, etc.), who put the finishing touches to 'Kingdom of Worms' at Unisound Studio. http://www.desertedfear.de https://www.facebook.com/desertedfear Finnish extreme metal band Pohjoisen Soturit have released their debut album "Oksat Pois... Hailing from the city of Coquimbo, the band was formed in late 2014 by drummer A.M (ex-Predator), guitar players S.D and C.H, and F.U on vocal duties. This line-up recorded the Emanation of Impure Heresies EP that was released through LMDT Records in October 2015. Later on, C.H left the band and was replaced by R.B (Swarm of Terror). With the addition of F.G (Swarm of Terror) on bass, the band recently recorded their debut full-length album, titled Under the Seals of Death. Drawing their lyrical and conceptual inspiration from the occult, ancient deities, and indigenous culture and history, Infamovs pay homage to the deeds and knowledge of yesteryear through a brand of death metal that's heinous, ruthless, sullen, and primitive, influenced by acts such as Incantation, Dominus Xul, Dead Congregation, Imprecation, Immolation, Sadistic Intent, early Deicide and early Morbid Angel. However, it is the band's thirsty 'n' miserable execution which sets Under the Seals of Death as a breed apart. Every gnarled, gangrenous riff and rhythm burls forward with an irrational sense of possession, as if the players' very lives are depending on it. Through this foul, gooey haze, a slimy-yet-sinuous songwriting emerges, marrying ably contorted linearity to tangibly, disgustingly physical forward momentum. It sounds and smells and feels like DEATH, rotting deeper in a pool of its own forlorn fluid. From this, Infamovs emerge: South American madness has a new name. Speak its first tongue with the track "Dawn of the Black Dance" HERE. Vanhelga are a Swedish Black Metal who have been going for around 15 years and have just unleashed their fourth opus 'Ode & Elegy'. In support of their new album, the deep-thinking quartet have unveiled their latest music video for the first track taken from the new album. "Utan Mening" explores the endlessly repeating cycle of aridity that passes for life. The video is directed by J. Ejnarsson and features A. Rohtsalu in the role of a depressed young woman slipping further and further into darkness and despair from which she is unable to escape. Footage of the band is also included in the video. Sweden's Vanhelga straddle themselves across the general Black and Depressive Suicidal Black Metal styles, all whilst they use deceptively melodic pieces to create disturbing scenarios, therefore not for the faint of heart or emotionally unstable. The album artwork was designed by Gedeminas Kiauné of Manum Diaboli Art. Vanhelga have a backdrop behind the album title and explain it as thus:-
