American metalcore outfit Pistacia revisit the heyday of emo with new single “It Was The Cat”10/9/2022 Boston’s Pistacia is bringing forth a new brand of metalcore with their debut EP “Edgy”. Through personal and poignant lyrics they confront relatable issues set to emotional and powerful music. So far, they have released a handful of singles, and the next one up is “It Was The Cat”, focusing on self-harm. Making music for people who are scared and voiceless is their passion and they are not afraid to get specific about what happens in the mind of the mentally ill. On this single, they offer hope and understanding and a flashback to the days when people used the explanation that “the cat did it” in reference to marks on their arms. The band explains the creation of the single: “The single began almost accidentally; Ben and Théo were in Florida on tour with their former band, exhausted from the road and performance, and aching to write some new music that would reflect the artistic changes they’d undergone as a result. Ben cracked away at that which he does best: writing filthy hardcore riffs and Théo took initiative to make as poppy a chorus arrangement as possible. Years later, the track was revived and Vic worked her magic, pouring her anguish and rage into finely tuned stanzas that packed punch. They entered a Berklee rehearsal room with sketches, with the makings of a metal banger, and left with the instantiation of their ardor”. Pistacia formed when vocalist Vic Gregg desired to be on stage instead of behind the merch booth. Fuelled by passion and a desire to realize her high school dreams, she learned how to scream and put the line-up together with her classmates. They started as a Pierce the Veil ensemble but later began writing originals. To date, they have released five singles, and are gearing up to release their EP in the fall. They promise that each of the tracks on it are full-fledged bangers that will provoke and challenge the listener. “It Was The Cat” is heavy in both lyrics and music and boasts sick breakdowns and the most 2007 chorus since MySpace reigned the internet. It's catchy and will have you dancing regardless of the dark imagery. It is recommended for fans of Pierce the Veil, Slipknot, and Bring Me the Horizon. “Edgy” is out on October 21, 2022.

Following in the wake of FORTÍÐ's highly praised sixth album, "World Serpent", which also won the prestigious "album of the month" titles in German magazines Metal Hammer and Sonic Seducer, the band now offers a first glimpse of great things to come in the shape of the two-track EP "Dómur um dauðan hvern" ("Judgement of Everyone Dead"). The Icelandic pagan black metal trio now reveals the lyric video single 'För' ("Journey") as a tasty sample of the MCD, which is slated for release on November 18, 2022.
FORTÍÐ comment: "The first track on the 'Dómur um dauðan hvern' EP is called 'För', which translates to 'journey', but the word can also be taken to mean 'marks' as in the plural of a mark", mastermind Einar Eldur Thorberg aka Einar Thorberg Guðmundsson explains. "Well, both translations apply in this case, because this song deals with mankind's journey throughout the ages and the indelible marks that we leave behind." With their two-track EP "Dómur um dauðan hvern" ("Judgement of Everyone Dead"), FORTÍÐ sent out an impressive sign of life. The Icelandic pagan black metal outfit continues in the massive footprints that their current album "World Serpent" has left. Epic Icelandic melodies, sharp riffing that draws from black, death, thrash, and heavy metal as well as Einar Eldur Thorberg's distinct vocals combine into fiery and spirited new songs. At the end of December 2020, FORTÍÐ were visibly on the rise. Having moved back to Iceland and with a new line-up, mastermind Einar scored heavily with "World Serpent" in soundchecks, end of the year lists in the press and with sales soaring as well, it looked like those descendants of the Vikings were about to set sail again and take the world by storm. The world had other plans. For all too well known reasons, FORTÍÐ ended up stuck at home instead of touring. Instead of twiddling thumbs, FORTÍÐ decided to hone their weapons by writing new material and to weather out the global storm season in their rehearsal room and later in the studio to make the best out of the situation. The first new songs on "Dómur um dauðan hvern" demonstrate that "World Serpent" was not an accidental success, but that this album represents a new height, which the Icelanders, with many years of experience under their belts and still burning with passion, have securely reached and hold on to.

American post industrialists Zeistencroix release new EP ‘Cruxi-Fiction’ and video “Ice Queen”27/8/2022 Post-industrial band Zeistencroix releases its new EP, Cruxi-Fiction, via Pavement Entertainment. Cruxi-Fiction follows the band’s debut album, Gen Z, which dropped back in 2019. Zeistencroix recorded Cruxi-Fiction at Stygian Sound, a private studio located at the renowned Sound City Center, and at ES Audio Recording Studios in Burbank, California. With the support of producers Tim Palmer and Alex Crescioni, Zeistencroix unleashes a 5-track EP that cultivates a unique post-industrial sound with both heavy and ethereal cyberpunk vibes.
Vocalist and songwriter Orlando “OD” Draven touches on the ideology of the EP, saying, “Cruxi-Fiction is an ode to nihilism. There’s no control, no love, and no future. We’re trapped in a hellish loop and robbed of our freedom and relationship aspirations. Everyone obeys in trends à la 1984.” Zeistencroix has also released the lyric video “Ice Queen” in conjunction with Cruxi-Fiction. Icy and snowy visuals pair perfectly with the sombre song’s themes of heartbreak. Hailing from Los Angeles, California, Zeistencroix is Orlando “OD” Draven (vocals), Santiago “Santi” Rivillas (drums), and Eddie “AKO” Jackson Zambrano (guitars). The band’s powerful sound is a blend of metal, industrial, progressive, alternative, and goth. Zeistencroix has toured both across the US and internationally. The first single, "Involuntary Lobotomy" was recently released, a crushing debut track that details people misleading and exploiting others, based on their faith, for ulterior motives. The track is available on all major streaming platforms and on Bandcamp: https://slavesofdissonance.bandcamp.com/track/involuntary-lobotomy Borrowing influences from such acts as Lamb Of God, Gojira and At The Gates, the bands sound can be described as having groovy / technical guitar riffs, high energy beats with shattering blasts and powerful grooves and ear piercing vocals. All members have uniquely different tastes ranging from thrash / groove or prog to more extreme styles like black metal / death metal resulting in Slaves of Dissonance creating a unique metal sound all of their own. Furthermore, some of the band members work in social / psychological science fields and utilize those experiences for eye opening lyrical content such as mental health disorders, government conspiracies, brainwashing media organizations and misleading, exploitative faith groups.

Defiant are to release their brand new EP "Vanguards Of Misrule" on June 26th, 2022. "Vanguards Of Misrule celebrates and encompasses everything that Defiant is over the last 17 years of its turbulent existence and shapes the future of the things to come. It is our most focused work yet and a classic example of an EP with a strength of a full length." - says T.K. (vocals, lyrics) Kris (guitars, song writing) continues - "Definitely our most complex material so far that will not leave anyone indifferent. And a good introduction to what follows next.". Defiant is a death / black metal band from Croatia formed in 2005. On the last 2 albums they played melodic death metal, but after some changes in the band they decided to change their style to pure death / black metal. Defiant's debut album "The End of Beginning" was self-released in autumn 2006. In 2008 some new promo stuff was recorded for the upcoming album "Without Religion There Is No Fear", but because of some problems the band split-up. While everything was on hold, Defiant's founder Kris worked on some new music, more brutal than previous stuff. 2011 was a new beginning for the band; new blood was recruited and after a few shows with a new line-up, Defiant was ready for recording a new album in "Era Of Substitution", which was more extreme than previous works from the band. In 2012 Defiant signed for Grom Records. In 2015. Defiant recorded their third album "Morbid Spiritual Illness" with the new line up after a two-year break; the new album was recorded at Studio Armageddon. Also in 2015 and Defiant signed a contract with Swiss label Miner Recordings. In 2020 the band welcomed Zoran Stjepic on bass. The band co-released the split "Ways Ov Damnation" with the Hungarian black / death metal band Dvvad via Tortured Tree productions. January 2022 saw Defiant record material for their new album "Insurrection Icon" at Hellsound Studio, Czech Republic with new vocalist / lyricist Tomislav Kuternik. The new darker opus "Insurrection Icon" was unleashed May 25th via Spanish label Art Gates records. The album was met with rave reviews from international and local metal sites, proclaiming it to be the band's best album so far. In the same month the album was promoted on the "Insurrection in the East" tour, mainly across Eastern Europe with new drummer Sead Hadžić (ToxicDeath, Contusio). Due to Covid-19 Defiant entirely focuses on writing new material which spawned their first ever EP named "Vanguards Of Misrule" which will see the darkness of the day 26th June 2022. It is dedicated to LG Petrov from Entombed. The new album "Mammon Mantra" will be recorded in 2023 with special guests. DEFIANT ARE:

Junction 28 signing statement: "We at Junction 28 are immensely proud to be sharing the next stage in our journey with WormHoleDeath. Partnering with this record label is a massive step forwards and we are incredibly excited for the bright future ahead of us. “Before You Drown” is our first EP, conceived largely during the initial stages of lockdown. The project shifts our sound into a new spectrum, with a distinct focus on dynamic song-writing, electronic sound-design and atmosphere, all the while making sure to retain our penchant for hefty riffs and soaring melodies. Lyrically we turned our eyes inwards, reflecting on the personal issues and mental struggles that have permeated our everyday lives over the past year in a way we hope is both relatable and incisive. Bands such as Linkin Park, Bring Me the Horizon, Deftones and Don Broco were always in our minds during the writing process, though we also drew heavy inspiration from a wide sphere of genre influences, including alternative rock, heavy metal, electronica, synth-wave, and modern pop. Junction 28 is a band hailing from Essex in the UK. Aiming to combine huge riffs, dense electronics and soaring vocals into one cohesive aural assault, the group is now ready to show its new face to the world. Formed in 2018 by bassist Dick Phantom (Kieron Spears), it wasn’t long before the band began ploughing through venues across Essex and Greater London. Other Members include drummer Ben Woodwards, guitarist Gary Digby, synth player Kit Sylvester and lead singer Craig Keeling. Their first EP, “Before You Drown'' has been recorded at 'Hidden Track' Studios in Folkestone with producer Oz Craggs, the project weaves together the new and the familiar, its five tracks speak to a plethora of topics drawn from the band member’s own lives and personal struggles. Junction 28 is managed by UAC management and will be appearing in music venues in the very near future. Line up:

Spanish modern metallers Synlakross are happy and proud to share the name and cover of their new EP: "Ideas Are Bulletproof" The band comments on the new EP: "It's a declaration of intentions. You can't kill an idea. Good ideas are stubborn, just like us. Music is alive and will never die. We will not allow it. They can't feed our brains with misery and submission. We feel the same passion as when we started. But now we are better musicians, and it's time to prove it, and it's time to celebrate it. We've broken down to the core the first songs we recorded and we've recomposed and rewritten them whole. The essence was good, and now they are much better songs. We can't wait to share them with you! Thank you very much to all of you who have supported us all these years. To those who never bet on us, we thank you too. In a few days the pre orders and new merch will be available. Stay tuned!" |
