Lecks Inc. is a French band from Marseille creating experimental industrial metal, criss-crossing diverse and extreme universes. Formed in 2009 as a studio project, the success of the first 2 albums led to the creation of a line up to play live shows throughout Europe. As of 2021, Lecks Inc. has 5 albums, 4 European tours (several hundred dates) and have opened for groups such as Combichrist, Tim Skold, Vader, Belphegor, Testament, Exodus, Harakiri for the Sky, Ktulu, Wormed, Sidilarsen, Misanthrope and many more. Their live performances have put them in front of thousands of spectators, playing in about twenty countries at many European festivals including the famous Hellfest, Vagos Metal Fest, Eradication festival, etc… from Wales to Romania, through Portugal or Ibiza. “Hostile” was produced by Keith Hillebrandt (Nine Inch Nails, David Bowie, a.o.), who comments: “When Fab and his wife were in Bangkok at the end of 2018 we got to talking about the next Aborym album and he asked if I was interested in helping out with the production. Talking about the directions he wanted the band's sound to take got me thrilled and when the tracks started to come together I was blown away. Tracks like ‘Proper use of Myself’ and ‘Stigmatized (Robotripping)’ had the patented Aborym heavy aggro feel but tracks like ‘Sleep’ and ‘The End Of A World’ took the band’s sound in a completely new direction. The whole album is an adventurous trip both lyrically and dynamically. I haven’t heard anything like that since many years and I’m proud to have had a small part in making this with Fab and the boys. Just wished I could have gone to Italy for the mix down, but the end of the world came”. The album is a consolidation and continuation of Aborym career. Rather than re-invent the wheel or try and compete with contemporary trends, this record takes the blueprint we know and love and sees the band adding even more layers and taking some of their work to its nth degree. They are unarguably heavy, and there are a lot of metal inspirations in their sound, but “Hostile” can be considered as a kaleidoscopic weird mix of psychedelia, electronic music, rock and experimental music. Aborym’s mission is simply to make music that has never been heard before. “Hostile” was written between 2018 and 2020, recorded at Synthesis Studio, NMG recording studio and Aborym-Lab in 2020, mixed and mastered by Andrea Corvo during the COVID-19 quarantine. For the first time this album has been written and arranged with a four-pieces consolidated line-up: Fab (vocals, synths, modular synths, programming), Greco (bass, guitars, programming), Catalani (drums, pads, electronics) and Aurizzi (guitars). Fabrizio Giannese shares his thoughts: “I’ve always had a fascination with challenging myself and even when I was a kid, I wanted to be different, I loved to experiment. I’ve always gotten a lot of enjoyment when I’m in a challenging situation and I have to learn something else, and I still do. I think it is innately inside me. Part of you doesn’t really realize just how cool it is not to give a fuck, you know? I am very concerned about like, ‘Is this working?’. Not giving a fuck is a way of giving more love because you’re free. It lets you be more creative and dynamic and louder and more fun and sadder and everything. We just tried to play the music we feel, like a therapy. Music is a therapeutic path for me and I try to not play music just to please the fans. People are always going to categorize you. It can definitely be frustrating. But I don’t feel any pressure to be anything for anyone. I don’t feel like I have to be the frontman in any certain way, and I think that’s part of the power of the band. If I was a solo artist and I had four managers telling me what to do, I’d feel stressed out... But we really feel grounded with each other. You can’t write the same type of song over and over and over again, so I think that’s one of the challenges, to feel like, ‘Yeah, I did something different here’. ‘Hostile’ will be our eighth album and I think for us it was really important to try and find our playfulness again. So, in that sense it gets harder with every album, but we really made music just because it was our favourite thing to do ever. It still is. Because of this incredible find, the new Static-X album will now feature lead vocals by Wayne Static on virtually every song. “It was very surreal” says Tony Campos. “Our producer was going through all of these old studio tapes, many of which were damaged. He called me up and told me that I needed to get down to the studio right away and listen to what he found.. I jumped in my car and raced to the studio and what he shared, fucking blew me away.. It was Wayne singing on track after track, but there was little to no music on any of it.. Most of the tapes were damaged and Wayne's voice was virtually all that remained in tact." “It was just crazy!!” adds drummer Ken Jay. “There we were.. Myself, Tony and Koichi, back in the studio together, after all these years, and somehow the universe decided to surprise us with all of these lost Static-X tapes containing Waynes voice. I just couldn’t help thinking that this was all somehow meant to be. I couldn’t stop thinking about how happy this was going to make Waynes family, and all of the Static-X fans around the world.” While this comes as amazing news for the fans, completing these additional tracks has created a lot of additional work for the band and their producers. Due to the busy touring schedule associated with the 20th Anniversary of Wisconsin Death Trip, the band had no choice but to delay the album's release. “The official release date for 'Project Regeneration' is now May 29, 2020.” Says Tony Campos "In the mean time, we have decided to go ahead and ship out ALL of the merchandise and schwag associated with the pre-orders to all the fans who have participated. This way they can have all of their shirts, hoodies, posters, etc, while we all wait a little bit longer for the music to be complete.. As originally planned, the CD’s will ship to everyone the week prior to release.. In addition, we are finally able to begin sharing some of the finished music from 'Project Regeneration'" adds Campos. “There is a lot of great stuff on the way, but right now we are going to share a video clip for one of the newly finished songs called 'HOLLOW.' This song was originally a demo from the Start A War album, which was never completed. “Wayne and I never felt like the music on the original demo was fully realized”. adds Tony. "The vocals sounded great, but some of the musical compositions from that time period felt a bit experimental. There is a reason that some of these tracks never made it on a previous STATIC-X album, and it certainly wasn’t because of Wayne's vocals. The band was just going through a lot of changes at that time and, in retrospect, it felt like we were straying away from that authentic STATIC-X sound that had really defined us.” Ken Jay adds, “When we began working on PROJECT REGENERATION our producers advised us to ignore all of the old demo music.. We opted for the original band to re-enter the studio with nothing more than Wayne's vocal tracks.. The vocals sound really great and I think that Wayne would be really happy with what we’ve done with the music and to hear that these tracks have finally realized their full potential..” “The 20th Anniversary for Wisconsin Death Trip only comes once in a life time.” Says original guitarist Koichi Fukuda “and this year has been absolutely incredible.
