American mathcore sextet The Callous Daoboys sign to MNRK Heavy; new single "A Brief Article Regarding Time Loops” out now

30/3/2022

Picture

Atlanta, Georgia mathcore upstarts, The Callous Daoboys, have joined MNRK Heavy for the release of their impending new full-length!

A recklessly free-spirited collective, The Callous Daoboys is made of six members, featuring a violinist and multiple vocal contributions. Together they deliver a vibrant combination of mathcore, sasscore, and post-hardcore -- a sound that is at once abrasive, chaotic, and classy. Revelling in high-strung extremity their music is dense, impenetrable, and chaotic yet confusingly inviting as each song deliriously swerves across stylistic lines. The band Kill Your Stereo called “insane, intricate, and impressive” introduced themselves to the underground with 2019’s Die On Mars.

In celebration of The Callous Daoboys union with MNRK Heavy, the band unveils their new single and video, “A Brief Article Regarding Time Loops.” The track marks a triumphant return and artistic leap forward from their previous material, careening through fractures of abstract and heavy, flaunting their unhinged chaos without sacrificing accessibility. The band’s use of expanded soundscapes is complimentary to their spastic, hook-driven approach to writing, creating a truly unique style of mathcore.

Elaborates vocalist Carson Pace of the track, “Capturing your first experience of Déjà vu? Have you heard this breakdown before? Does it matter? What are the intentions of man’s best friend? Start over."

Catch The Callous Daoboys live this June on tour with Limbs and Greyhaven. The journey will commence on June 3rd in Amityville, New York and run through June 24th in Chicago, Illinois. See all confirmed dates below. Stand by for more news on The Callous Daoboys to be revealed in the weeks to come.

DVL on the signing and new album:

"We are excited to announce that we have signed with WormHoleDeath Records and we look forward to working together on the release of our upcoming debut album, 'Hush'.

We’ve always had a natural attraction to the darker, more ominous sounds in music and we really leaned into that when we were writing Hush. We wrote and demoed all the songs for over 2 and a half years before finally going to Italy and recording it with our engineer at Titans LAB Recording Studio in September 2020. This album is like a book of short stories. Not a concept album but each song tells it’s own individual tale.

Musically we take cues from many genres and many artists but our writing is also heavily influenced by other media such as Horror film, comic books and video games."

French ambient groove metallers Mind Imperium sign with Wormholedeath & announce "Nemesis" album

Picture

Mind Imperium have signed a licensing deal with Wormholedeath for their album "Nemesis", which will be released on March 25th, 2022 worldwide. Hailing from France, Mind Imperium are a groove metal band in which powerful groove riffs blend with dark and melancholic tunes.

The band comments on the album -

"Loss begets emptiness. An infinite void feeding on our hopes, leaving only broken dreams and a growing sadness in its wake. As emptiness spreads like a disease in our mind, it reminds us that our existence is futile, that time will consume all things in the end, leaving an everlasting nothingness.

Nemesis portrays our unspeakable despair, but goes further. It is the unheard scream of our oceans stripped of all life by the hand of men, the bloodstained ashes of our forests whose life is burning away, the cub bereft of its mother’s warmth, the father without a son.

It is the incarnation of a declining world. From this despair, we draw an endless strength and our desire for revenge. We are Nemesis."

Mind Imperium is an ambient groove metal band from France, with Nogh (ex-Obnoxious, Death Of A Dryad) on lead vocals and guitars, Carol (ex-Necroblaspheme, Death Of A Dryad) on bass guitar and backing vocals, and Fabien (Paican) on drums and backing vocals.

The band began in late 2013, with a concept to create a groove metal band in which powerful groove riffs would blend with dark and melancholic ambiences. The band released its first EP – Amongst The Ruins – the same year, under the name My Imperium. Well-received by the public and the press, this first attempt allows them to play live extensively.

In 2016, after a few line-up changes and a small hiatus; while Nogh and Carol focus on other musical projects and the development of the associative label Dark Faery Records, the band resumed its live activities and started working on a full-length album. This project is inspired by artists from 19th century like Poe, Lovecraft or Chambers, but also from the works of Freud and Jung. Consequently, My Imperium becomes Mind Imperium, a name more fitting to the band’s unique universe.

In 2018, they release their first LP "Way To Carcosa", recorded at Vamacara Studio. It explores the diversity of emotions bred by the human mind when confronted with loss, whether it be symbolical or real. It also reflects Mind Imperium sustained engagement in the environmental cause, relating the album theme to damages done by mankind to the living world. In partnership with Sea Shepherd, the band releases a music video for their song 'A War Without End', to condemn the Grindadráp.

Right after their album’s release, Mind Imperium goes on tour in France and Belgium with their friends from Aeon Patronist, in support of both bands latest work. The band continues touring until COVID-19 hits, and spends the end of 2020 bringing "Nemesis" to life. Its recording takes place in Spring 2021 at Tidalwave Studio.

  • Nicolas Galliot – guitars / lead vocals
  • Carol Demessieux – bass guitars / backing vocals
  • Fabien Trotel – drums – backing vocals
