German modern metal / metalcore band Slaves of Kali are preparing the release their debut album "Uncharted Trails" on October 22nd. The band about the album: "The album marks an important moment in our band history. Although there is already a recorded EP ("Dawn“), the songs that can be heard on it all come from a phase of the band in which we had not yet found ourselves in our current formation and our musical direction. Each of the songs on "Uncharted Trails" were created with influences from every member of the band. This is what you get today when you ask for "Slaves Of Kali". In the songs, we simply process the topics that occupy or burden us daily. Usually, it's not about the personal problems of our band members. There are far more important things than our personal struggles. The songs deliver our, mostly dystopian, view on topics like technology, the destruction of our environment and social inequalities. Don't get us wrong. First and foremost, our music is meant to entertain. However, we also think that heavy music can handle heavy content. Even if the topics are different, in many lyrics you can feel a longing for an escape from these circumstances. This brought us to the album title "Uncharted Trails". Also, the title is an expression of how nature attracts us, as a way to escape these problems, at least for a while. As with almost all DIY productions, the process, from the recording in the studio to the finished record, took quite a long time. It is not easy to decide when the time has come to consider the record finished. Except for the mastering and the execution of our artwork idea, everything about the album is 100% "Slaves Of Kali“." Slaves of Kali is a modern metal / metalcore band from Berlin. Following the aim to “just play really good metal” and not being confined by any boundaries the band is combining influences of classical metal with modern metal genres. Ranging from classic metal to so-called nu metal, hardcore, and metalcore the band combines the old and the new school of heavy guitar music to create a new representation of their all time favourite kind of music. The songs don't follow a set roadmap. There are no restrictions. As long as the band members manage to combine their different preferences in one song, they don't give a shit if the song ends up thrashy, corey or nu or anything else. In terms of content, the songs are usually not about the beautiful things of this world. Often it's about how people, by and large, are quite a bunch of idiots taking good things and ideas and always manage to get only the bad out of them. We as humans have so much but feel poor. We are globally connected, yet often feel alone. In short, Slaves of Kalis music tells of the problems of our accelerated time, large and small. However, if people come to a Slaves of Kali show, the band will not wait with an admonishingly raised forefinger. When the band plays live, it is primarily about creating some lightness in everyday struggle, it’s about having a good time and bringing people together again instead of separating even more. Few types of music are as well suited for this as Metal. Line-Up:

Wolves Among Us are getting ready to release their second album, which has been produced and mastered by Chris Kreutzfeldt (Cabal, Daze Of June, Ghost Iris). Facebook Instagram Melbourne metalcore risers Drown This City have released their earth-shattering EP "Colours We Won't Know" yesterday via UNFD. Following their earlier music video for single “New Burn Order,” the band are celebrating today's release with the reveal of a music video for EP standout “Carbon14.” “Carbon14” was written lyrically by DTC bassist / vocalist Toby Thomas, who shares that the track is a comparison between carbon isotope (or, Carbon 14) and himself – where the former is an atom known for being in a constant state of decay, Thomas describes how he has often felt this way in relation to his mental health journey as he goes on to explain:- "The lyrics are a personal expression of the inner turmoil I have felt between the fight for positivity while also not believing it is something my atomic structure would ever allow me to experience. "The story is told from the perspective of a man who has spent years working at his mental health only to feel a sense of failure and constant short comings. It describes the mental turmoil the character is experiencing whilst trying to stay on track to better himself instead of giving in to his demons and settling into the comfort of a darker state of mind." Drown This City boldly tackle further conversations concerning mental health, grappling with childhood trauma and healing returning wounds on their new EP "Colours We Won't Know". Fuelled by references to metalcore, hardcore and other heavy sub-genres, CWWK finds Drown This City at their absolute heaviest, offering dynamic instrumentation among stark lyrical imagery and elevated clean / unclean vocal delivery. Despite its darkness, the release ultimately offers a glimmer of hope with the message that it’s never too late to tackle your mental health head on, even long after you think you’ve beaten it. With their own personal wounds truly laid bare and continuing to heal, ultimately Drown This City hope to stir up the courage in everyone to dig deep and fight their buried pain. To date, "Colours We Won't Know" has garnered over 90K streams, meanwhile the band found themselves gracing the playlist cover for Homegrown & Heavy. "Colours We Won't Know" is out in full now via UNFD. Drown This City play the Melbourne leg of Full Tilt Festival alongside Northlane, Hands Like Houses, Thy Art Is Murder, Luca Brasi, Slowly Slowly, Make Them Suffer, and more in July and are set to support In Hearts Wake on their national tour in November. Tokyo based metalcore outfit Sailing Before The Wind have released their new single “Break the Silence (Rerecorded)”. The band has been centred around bassist and composer Bitoku Sakamoto who is the only constant member of the line-up, he is also known as a former touring bassist of Crystal Lake. This self-released single features vocalist Kneeya and guitarist Takaya; both are founding members of the band to celebrate the band’s 10th anniversary. The track was produced, mixed and mastered by Bitoku. The lyrics have been rewritten around the theme of the band's 10 years struggle to get out of Japan's small metalcore scene. Some of the riffs and lead guitars have also been rearranged to make it more guitar oriented metalcore. “Break the Silence (Rerecorded)” now available on Spotify, Apple Music, and most other online streaming platforms. Sailing Before The Wind Socials: Italians Inner Code were born in the alleys of the ancient city of Florence, Italy, between the shadows of the monuments and the din of the locals. The band are united with just one purpose, to translate our repressed emotions into music, the most angry and unspeakable ones; to fulfil the desire to tell those little-told stories, cruel but full of teachings. Each of them come from different musical genres, with metal uniting us all. They have risen from the ashes of past bands, which have taken them to the darkest stages in Italy and now they return like a ‘new nightmare’. Those who grew up with electronics and those with hip-hop, each express his obscurity by putting it at the service of the band with the idea of creating something unique, drawing from their souls, from their Inner Code. They’ve chosen to sing in Italian (a genre that’s not sung in Italian), because they don’t want to leave anything unspoken and every chord must sound devastating together with every concept, without compromise. There’s no pandemic that can stifle such universal anger. Are you ready for something new and deadly? Inner Code are:
Band links: Official Website | Facebook | Youtube | Instagram | VK | On Sliptrick Melbourne metalcore risers Drown This City have announced their new EP "Colours We Won't Know" will be released on Friday 28th May via UNFD. Following their new single and video 'New Burn Order' last month, the band are following up with a fierce new cut from the EP titled 'Borderline Existence' today. DTC vocalist Alex Reade shares how the track's haunting scenario – depicting a person's out of body experience watching on at themselves trapped in an asylum – represents the agitation and anger she’s experienced feeling forced to pursue a certain path due to external pressure placed on her:- "I've found myself wearing thin because of this, wondering what I was fighting against and how long could I keep going for. This song reflects the battle I feel to succeed against all odds, fuelled by sheer terror that my life will be for nothing. The line ‘I really thought that I’d amount to something, I should have known you’d get me in the end’ really reflects the exhaustion I feel wondering if I can keep going with this fight to be heard and understood. I’m exhausted, always pushing against, trying to win, trying to get ‘there’ and I just don’t know where that is any more.” Drown This City's Alex Reade describes the band's 2021 EP as the ultimate purge of darkness. While their 2019 release "Alpha // Survivor" had been the proving ground for her strength and overcoming, "Colours We Won’t Know" finds the vocalist winding back the clock and standing face to face with the past torment she thought had been put to rest. “I think being in lockdown in Melbourne left us no choice but to face whatever we were running from, and that time drew every bit of honesty with myself out of me. It was very confronting to feel such sadness in me again, but I worked through all of the disgust and shame I’d been suppressing, and we’ve written our saddest and bleakest songs to date because of it.” Musically, DTC find themselves at their absolute heaviest and collaborating on themes and ideas as a band and team more than ever. With a freshly formed core writing group at play — comprising Reade (lyrics), guitarist Josh Renjen leading instrumentation and new bassist/vocalist and co-lyricist Toby Thomas — together the band push every boundary possible. Fuelled by references to metalcore, hardcore and other heavy sub-genres, CWWK offers dynamic instrumentation, stark lyrical imagery and elevated clean/unclean vocal delivery. Thomas joined the DTC family just prior to the writing and recording of the release and listeners will find his particular influence over belters ‘Carbon14’ and ‘Time Won’t Remember Us’. On his debut project with Drown This City, he shares how he and Reade quickly formed a bond and drew from their similar experiences to bring the release to life. “Colours We Won’t Know is an exploration of cognitive distortions depicted from different perspectives and stories, ultimately derived from our experiences. The songs discuss the results of trauma and mental illness, along with the effects this has on our own environments and those around us. It both embraces and challenges hope in the face of personal awareness and growth.” Despite its darkness, CWWK ultimately offers a glimmer of hope with the message that it’s never too late to tackle your mental health head on, even long after you think you’ve beaten it. With their own personal wounds truly laid bare and continuing to heal, ultimately Drown This City hope to stir up the courage in everyone to dig deep and fight their buried pain. WEBSITE | FACEBOOK | TWITTER | INSTAGRAM | YOUTUBE Don’t let the name fool you – anyone familiar with legendary South Texas metalcore act Scarlett O’hara knows that their name may be dainty but that’s where any trace of delicacy disappears, as evidenced by the band’s first single in three years, “Friction.” Watch the video for “Friction” now at https://youtu.be/VE_YLt92G58. Guitarist Logan Burns says:- “Growth is commonly seen as a good thing, but oftentimes, the road to get there is harder than we expect. ‘Friction’ is about that road. It’s about the difficult path to your goals, the constant obstacles in your way, and the incredible people that you meet along the way. We hope that ‘Friction’ will help people with identifying their unique struggles associated with growth and inspire them to endure.”
Formed in 2008, Scarlett O'hara has pushed the metalcore genre further with a high-paced signature style, now known as South Texas Metalcore, an unrelenting barrage of sound that evokes images of being kicked in the face by an angry bull. After the release of their highly praised 2010 Rise Records debut "Lost in Existence", the McAllen, TX-based band went on hiatus, finally regrouping for the 2018 release of their second album, "Welcome Back To The Brodeo". The critically acclaimed album debuted on several US Billboard charts including: #19 Hard Rock Album Sales, #20 HeaterSeeker Albums and #1 Heatseeker (South Central), as well as #25 on the iTunes Metal chart for its release week. The band has most recently teamed up with Grammy nominated producer Erik Ron (Godsmack, Panic! at the Disco, New Years Day) to deliver another molten slab of pure platinum rock in “Friction.” Stay tuned for more new music from Scarlett O'Hara!
