Extreme progressive metal maestros Persefone have returned with the next single from their upcoming album, metanoia, entering the last round before its long-awaited release this Friday. The third single, “Architecture of the I”, features grim growling, sharp screams and technically precise riffing – creating dark sound walls that alternate with calmer atmospheric parts underlined with electronic elements – once again showcasing the band’s variety in just one epic song! Underlining this opus of sound is a mesmerizing visualizer video that enters another universe – just a sneak peak of what’s to come with their new album metanoia. Persefone on “Architecture of the I”: “‘Architecture of the I’ represents one of the most progressive songs on metanoia. On this track, we really let the song come alive as we were writing, and because of that, the listener will find in there a huge dynamic range from one of the most fast and heavy riffs in the whole album, to some of the most introspective passages. This song has been a challenge for us to write and perform, and we are sure that it will also present a challenge for the listener to keep track with its particular pace and structure. Now it's up to you to find the purpose of all those notes within the album. The stunning video was created by our guitar player Filipe and his partner K (DeadFlag Studios and Gráfica de Ferro).” Watch the new music video for “Architecture of the I” HERE Persefone is:-

Prolific metalcore progressives, ERRA are issuing a deluxe version of their latest album "S/T" on 18th March via UNFD. The album is available for pre-order here. The expanded edition is beefed up with seven additional tracks, including a feature from Spiritbox's Courtney LaPlante along with three covers. With touring off the table for most of 2021, the band found other means of creative outlet, and opted to re-enter the studio with producers Carson and Grant around the time of the release of what would go on to become their career-defining self titled album. Now, the band is sharing the video for "Nigh to Silence." - click to watch. Guitarist / clean vocalist Jesse Cash shares his thoughts:- "During the end of 2020 and the start of 2021, we tried to take advantage of not being able to tour and having extra time at home. So while we were rolling out singles and announcing our self-titled record, we were also in the studio recording some new songs for a deluxe edition of the record. This was our favourite of the bunch. Regarding the deeper meaning of "Nigh to Silence", the song is set on an empty earth observed by the moon. I intended to express as much loneliness as I could. Then, I thought of 'walking in the shadow of my own ghost,' which felt like the loneliest visual I could muster. I wrote the first line about how the process of writing music feels and my deeply internal fear of being forgotten or irrelevant: 'Floating song, I caught in a dream and passed it on. Frail and fragile is the ghost that I will carry and time will swallow.'" ERRA S/T DELUXE TRACK LISTING:
Cash also offers some insight into the band's process, saying, "Creative ideas seemingly spring up out of nowhere, are nurtured into complete works, and once that is done, I immediately begin moving on to the next thing, to the degree that by the time the song is out and people are hearing it for the first time, I've already kind of said my goodbye, mourned its loss, and moved on from it entirely. This always feels sad, but also cathartic to hand the song over to the listeners and relinquish ownership of it. It feels necessary for me to grow as a musician and as a person, to constantly acknowledge a lack of ownership over anything but myself. It was really special for me to finally write a song about the quiet poignancy of writing songs themselves, and 'Nigh to Silence' has become one of my favourites." On their career-defining fifth studio album ERRA, the band confront depression, anxiety and desperation throughout. They take listeners on a near-out-of-body journey to Aokigahara, the infamous Suicide Forest of Japan; into episodic storytelling that would make Black Mirror writers proud; and into the literary works of Cormac McCarthy and Hubert Selby Jr. Recorded, mixed, and mastered by Carson Slovak and Grant McFarland, it’s a definitive mission statement for guitarist Jesse Cash, vocalist J.T. Cavey, drummer Alex Ballew, bassist Conor Hesse, and guitarist Sean Price, each of them already well-respected players revered for their inspiring technicality and raw, natural talent. ERRA ARE:
Italian progressive death metal legends Sadist (ft. Obscura's Jeroen Paul Thesseling and ex-Necrophagist's Romain Goulon) reveal a bunch of fresh details surrounding the upcoming new album "Firescorched," including cover artwork, track-listing and release date. "Firescorched" will be released via the band's new label home Agonia Records on May 20th, 2022. A new digital single titled "Finger Food" is planned to be revealed on February 18th, alongside a list of available album formats. Pre-orders are scheduled to be open at the same time. "Firescorched" is the fastest, highly experimental and most extreme album of Sadist's career. The songs are fresh, embrace blast beats and give away a horror vibe, in combination with gloomy and anguished lyrics. The band's adventurous style, featuring jazz and Middle-Eastern influences, pierces through a veil of progressive death metal that cloaks nine new compositions (eleven, if counting two bonus songs). The album was recorded, mixed and mastered by Tommy Talamanca at Nadir Music Studios in Genoa (Italy) with artwork design by Paolo Puppo. Talamanca comments on the album:- "Firescorched can be described as Sadist 2.0. It's not a real concept album in the classical meaning of the word, despite the fact that most of the lyrics are somehow connected. Some of them are real horror stories, and the whole album sounds really creepy. We all love the cover artwork, which adds to that feeling." Sadist started out in the early nineties, having emerged from Genoa in Italy. The band went ahead of its time, with an adventurous take on the then-developing progressive death metal subgenre. Its presence was firmly established through an unmistakable style, detectable since the debut instalment "Above The Light" from 1993, as well as following albums: "Tribe" (1995) and "Crust" (1997). After the release of "Lego" (2000), which brought about a temporary shift towards the avant-garde / core spectrum of the genre, Sadist went on a hiatus. The band returned to its proven sonic formula in 2005, having put out four studio albums since, and continues to maintain its epic take on death metal, featuring jazz and Middle-Eastern elements. Sadist played before huge crowds as a support act and opener for such iconic bands as Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Slayer or Motorhead, guesting at Olympic stadiums and gaining exposure at high-profile metal festivals as Wacken Open Air (1998), Gods Of Metal (2006 & 2010) or Hellfest (2010). The most recent trek took place in 2019, when the band toured Europe with I Am Morbid, Vital Remains and Atrocity. Line-up:

Persefone are known for technical precision at its highest levels, and with their newest single “Katabasis” – out today alongside an astounding new music video created with the support of SDADV – draw dramatic, cinematic soundscapes mixed with electronic influences. The soft, clear vocals of Marc Martins alternate with sharp growls and bleak yet dynamic riffs. This ride ties in with the well-received first single “Merkabah” and leaves you anxiously awaiting Persefone’s upcoming album, "Metanoia"! Persefone “Katabasis”: “"Katabasis" stands as the opening track of the new album and marks an important event when it comes to the concept of ‘metanoia’, as it led us to the depths of the being. This song displays many of the elements that can be heard throughout the album, and we hope that it welcomes the listener to the journey we want to offer with all this new music.”
Metanoia sets off with opulent opener “Katabasis”, before continuing to balance soft passages with intense walls of sound on tracks like “Aware of Being Watched” – in which clean vocals and jazzy sections alternate with intense riffing carried by dense drumming – while solid, rich sound takes on orchestral dimensions on songs such as “Leap of Faith”. Vivid and dynamic instrumentation, tempo and rhythm make up the intense ride “Merkabah”, showcasing the band’s hardest yet most vulnerable sides as screams and blast beats are followed by soft instrumentation – spanning the song’s intensity to its maximum. Featuring collaborations with standout artists like Steffen Kummerer (Obscura, Thulcandra), Einar Solberg (Leprous), Angel Vivaldi and Merethe Soltvedt (Two Steps From Hell). Metanoia exploits the full potential of contrasts in every song, with each track representing a story evolving from beginning to end and constantly growing in strength – redefining typical musical boundaries. Mixed by David Castillo (Leprous, Soen, Opeth) and mastered by Tony Lindgren (Enslaved, Ihsahn, Sepultura), the new full-length stretches over 10 songs, each appearing to glide seamlessly from one to the next. Starting the year right, Vietnamese progressive metalcore outlet Windrunner are dropping their new offering, along with a guest vocal feature from Novelists FR frontman Tobias Rische--this is 'Sardonyx', released via Famined Records. The band states the inspiration behind the track's lyricism: "In a world full of lies and distrust driven by power and money, people are dying from diseases, those surviving are distress and hollow." Staying true to their own description of their sound which they call "melodic groove", Windrunner demonstrate their heavy and skilful mix of powerful riffs, heart-pounding percussions, with both scorching screams and moving, ethereal vocals.

In regards to the song, the band stated:- "These past couple years have been a wild ride for us and everybody else. Sometimes it's hard to see a tomorrow when you're faced with so many struggles. This song describes what it's like to constantly go through the ups and downs of life. Just when it feels like you're soaring, you come crashing down again." Formed in 2016, Silvercord is a 5-piece progressive metalcore group from Dallas, Texas. With influences ranging from Northlane and Architects to heavier acts such as Vildhjarta, the band aims to create their own unique sound to provide fans with a new listening experience. Australian modern prog metallers Ironstone unveil music video for new single "Mr.Struggle"30/10/2021 Ironstone have released their new single ‘Mr. Struggle’, the first since releasing their debut EP ‘Prophecy’ last year. The video had its world premiere yesterday at metal.de. Navigating through difficult emotions, ‘Mr. Struggle’ is the story of a man who cannot cope with a manipulative relationship. Unequipped to deal with the psychological abuse, he pleads for relief before eventually coming unravelled. The lyrics touch upon the idea that when it comes to emotional games, it’s not always a level playing field. This paints the picture of someone who struggles with more intense emotions and especially needs a degree of allowance and understanding. Mr. Struggle is definitely a step in a more progressive direction for the band. With ambient sections and melodic vocals through to breakdowns, heavy percussive guitars, technical drumming and extreme vocals, the band uses everything at their disposal to evoke drama and tell a compelling story of pain and vulnerability. The release is accompanied by a music video, shot over a long period in between COVID lockdowns. It shows Mr. Struggle desperately trying to hide the situation in front of friends, versus the reality of what’s going on behind closed doors. In the end he breaks, and the story takes a very dark turn. "It’s definitely our most ambitious video project yet, and the first time we’ve ventured away from just performance footage. We really wanted to tell a story with this video" says the band. Mr. Struggle was mixed by Chris Themelco and mastered by Acle Kahney (TesseracT) Ironstone are:

Teaming up with Napalm Records will allow us to reach a new stage we couldn’t get to otherwise and we can't wait to show you all what we’ve been working on these last few years. Stay tuned for more announcements about our new album and tours coming up! The amount of hours and resources we have put into this release is way beyond any other album we have ever conceived. We have put the question mark on every little detail - from the writing process to the very last production element. Also, the commitment David has shown during this whole process definitely shows in the final sound of the album as it sounds huge, powerful and very organic. For us, every new album means a new challenge to surpass and this particular one has been no exception. For the first time ever we couldn’t be happier with the result. Much love.” Sebastian Muench, A&R at Napalm Records adds:- "Persefone's album ‘Aathma’ is unquestionably one of most creative and inspiring progressive metal albums of the last decade!
