Listen to 'Free One' at these links:
Thy Despair's new album "The Song of Desolation" follows the band's 2018 debut EP "Free One". Some of the album's lyrics are influenced by the war in eastern Ukraine. "It is a great tragedy for the nation and the main idea of these songs is that you should always fight back and keep freedom in your heart and mind. Lyrics of other songs are inspired by local legends or life experience." says band founder Nephilim.
The album as a whole features 10 tracks each with its own tale to tell and a statement that unites all of them together.
"Even when everything goes extremely bad, you should still stay strong, struggle and hope for the best, otherwise you won’t survive or will turn into a backboneless slave."

After an incredibly successful 2019 that saw the band tour North America as well as Europe (the latter even twice) and release their worldwide charting new album, Macro, Ukrainian modern metal frontrunners Jinjer return with the official music video for their standout track, "Retrospection" - a song that touches the sensitive subject of family.
The band emotionally states:-
""Retrospection" is one of the most personal songs we have ever written. Being a full time touring musician, spending most of the time on the road … of course we are making our biggest dream come true and living each day to the fullest, but nobody mentions that there is a dark side. We do not see people who devoted themselves to us entirely, who gave us everything they had and more… We miss them and they miss us in return, and yet we should call them more often… much more often than we do.
I am talking about our parents.
For most of the Jinjers, our parents are separated from us not only by distance, but also by war and politics. We don’t have an opportunity to visit our parents even when we are in Ukraine. And it feels like they are on the other side of the planet even if we are literally only 800 km away. The worst thing is that, now being in our 30s, year after year, it feels like the storm clouds are gathering above. We all know that the day will come when we will feel alone all of a sudden… and we will lose them. The people, but for whom, we’d never make it. The bitter taste of understanding this is almost unbearable.
We look at this song as an anthem to the ones who raised us, who sacrificed everything for the sake of our happiness no matter what the costs, even despite our own thankless and ingratitude towards them. The people who showed us that the purest love ever does exist - the love of the father and mother for their children.
"Наши мамы и папы, мы хотим, чтобы вы знали, что мы тоже вас любим, и что без вас мы бы никогда не добились всего этого и не осуществили бы свою мечту. Спасибо вам за все - (Mom and Dad, we want you to know that we love you too, if not for you we’d never make it this far and never fulfil our dreams. Thank you for everything.)"
Showcasing the band's diversity, the unique track not only features the typical technical finesse and sheer brutality, but also scores with heavy grooves and quiet, almost ballad-like moments as well as parts sung in the their native tongue, Ukrainian. The song was originally released on their latest full-length album, Macro, out now via Napalm Records.
“It's been a while since I came home... My heart is elsewhere as I roam and roam..."

Progressive metal act Emphasis was formed in 2010 in Estonia. They play kind of a mix of classical harmonies, heavy guitar riffs and powerful operatic vocals of gorgeous front lady Anna Ganina. For the last five years, the band played dozens of shows. Their debut full-length album "Revival" was released in spring 2016 under Italian label Underground Symphony and received a lot of positive reviews. The second 14-track concept LP "Soul Transfer“ was released worldwide in March 2018 on the label Red Rivet Records (Japan).

Canadian Modern Metallers Juliet Ruin premiere 'Fight To Win' lyric video and announce Jinjer support dates
Edmonton, AB's Juliet Ruin recently released their first full-length album "Old Stardust, Love and Chaos" on September 6, 2019 to follow their 2017 debut self titled EP. The release promises to be more technical with heavy instrumentation, including some dabbling in low tuned 7 string guitars to create an original sound chock full of catchy hooks that convey a fresh and emotive feel to their heavy music. Lead vocalist Jess Ruin has added more screams, but also more clean techniques with her pop-esque power vocals. Fans of forward-thinking modern metal such as Evanescence, System of a Down, and Killswitch Engage should take special note of this powerful and emotive Canadian band.
Teaming up with GhostCultMag.com, Juliet Ruin is excited to premiere their latest lyric video for the track 'Fight To Win' at the following link HERE.
The band adds:
"'Fight to Win' is probably one of the more unique tracks on the album. It begins softly and quickly changes pace, flowing into our most experimental vocals in the verses. FTW is a wordy and exciting track with an array of vocal styles. The verses of this one are special vocally because of creative on-the-spot thinking in the studio by Diego Fernandez. The last-minute change to make the verses more spoken the entire mood of the song different. FTW is an ode to owning up to a vengeful nature just to flaunt it proudly as a warning sign."
Digital stream and download of Juliet Ruin's debut album "Old Stardust, Love, and Chaos" is available on Spotify, Bandcamp, Apple Music, Amazon.
Music Video 'Spite' here.
Lyric Video 'Seasons' here.
In additional news, Juliet Ruin will be supporting Ukraine's Jinjer in Calgary on October 29th and Edmonton on October 30th.
The band adds:
"We as a band are absolutely honoured to be opening up for Jinjer, we are all fans and their meteoric rise has been a pleasure to watch."

Ukrainian modern metal frontrunners Jinjer have returned with a vengeance! Today, Jinjer turns heads with a new music video for the gut-punching anthem “On The Top”. Never failing to deliver an unforgettable hook, “On The Top” slinks along a punishing groove before soaring into melodic passages – just another example of what listeners can expect to be met with on the band’s upcoming full-length album, Macro, out October 25, 2019 via Napalm Records.
“While one is climbing, the rest is falling down in the name of profit – Is it lonely on the top?”
Jinjer:- says about “On The Top”:
“Have you ever felt like a rat in a rat race? It seems like the world is spinning faster and faster every single day and everyone is going crazy searching for this thing called success. However, we tend to forget that real happiness has nothing to do with it- not a career, achievements, money etc. Is it really worth climbing up the ladder just to be ON to the TOP if there is nothing or no one there for you in the end? It's OK to want to be the best you can possibly be but just remember that success has its price but it's up to you to decide how much you are willing to pay for it. It’s your choice to make but your burden to bare …”

Doused in poise, creativity, and dynamism, with Exchange Failure, the band channels Bohren And Der Club Of Gore, composer Angelo Badalamenti, and contemporary blackened majesty into an eclectic set of visionary hymns that fuse late-night metropolitan contemplation, psychological horror, intoxicating melodicism, and primeval, animal-state ferocity. Diverse movements and tonal shifts interlink as if to mirror what the band describes as humanity's existential struggle "caused by the inability to understand who we are and what our place on this planet is;" a clash between dreamworlds and harsh reality evocative as the urban landscapes of photographer Luke Pownall used throughout the packaging. A truly essential listen, Love Exchange Failure is a record that, on repeat plays, opens up like a streetscape sinkhole to drag you into the degenerate heart of the city.
Further elaborates WHITE WARD of the offering:-
"The idea behind this album is to illustrate the artificial conditions people created to contradictory distinguish themselves to nature. Being neither a separate phenomenon nor a sustainable part of the surrounding environment, we've pushed ourselves to a constant struggle caused by the inability to understand who we are and what our place on this planet is. Conditions we create lead to a continually rising level of fear in the minds of individuals and at the same time - the lack of love. Under the term 'love' we mean not a feeling in its primitive understanding but a feature that helps us to live in harmony with ourselves, other people, and the world around.
The love exchange failure leads to an inevitable degradation and degeneration. The more hatred we push towards people around us, the deeper we fall. The blinder we are on our daily way to work, the more sufferings we leave behind. People don't have time to talk to each other. Furthermore, obsessed by desires, they don't even pay enough attention to their children, rising each new generation more exposed to mental problems. Blindness, indifference, and domestic abuse, bullying in schools, social rejection, and many other factors lead to many tragedies of mankind. Caused by individuals, they are our own crimes."
