Members of Electric Wizard & Unearthly Trance Form Serpentine Path; Debut Album Out September 1113/7/2012 With a pedigree that boasts all three members of New York's cult doom act Unearthly Trance, plus founding Electric Wizard and Ramesses bassist / guitarist Tim Bagshaw, Serpentine Path should immediately top any doom metal fan's want-list.
The self-titled debut is an absolutely crushing album which both references and reinterprets its members previous bands but with a decidedly more punishing death metal approach. The debut album from Serpentine Path will be available from Relapse Records on September 11, 2012 and combines vicious vocals with punishingly killer riffs to create unparalleled evil that's equal parts Paranoid and Severed Survival. You can view the album artwork and pre-order the debut from Serpentine Path here Dark Century Exclusively Streaming New Single 'Kill The Crowd' On SMNnews.com + Tour Dates13/7/2012 _One of Montreal’s heaviest and most aggressive metal bands, Dark Century, whom will be performing at this year's Heavy MTL after winning the fest's battle of the bands are now exclusively streaming their new single 'Kill The Crowd' on SMNnews.com at the following location.
Gearing up to release their second album, a follow up to their 2008 debut, later this year, Dark Century will be giving audiences a preview of their new sound while delivering their standard unrivaled live show when they travel the Great North from East to West, kicking off in Ottawa on July 20 at The Brass Monkey. Tour Dates: July 20, 2012 - The Brass Monkey - Ottawa, ON w/ Deamon, Placentophagia, Accursed Spawn, Argus Panoptes July 25, 2012 - Lepps - Saskatoon, SK * July 27, 2012 - Scott Block Theatre - Red Deer, AB (moved from Calgary, AB) July 29, 2012 - Iron Road Studios - Vancouver, BC July 30, 2012 - The DV8 Tavern - Edmonton, AB August 1, 2012 - The Zoo - Winnipeg, MB August 2, 2012 - Black Pirates Pub, Thunder Bay, ON August 11, 2012 - Heavy MTL Fest - Montreal, QC BIO: “One of the main differences is the fact that there is a second guitarist in the band now. This brings harmonies and solos that were not present before. The way we are recording is also different and our gear has evolved over the time. This time around we are also working with Chris Donaldson,” says guitarist Éric Duranleau. “All in all, we are taking a big step from the previous album in order to put out something that sounds heavier, more aggressive and more in your face. We keep it simple and efficient. We are not reinventing the wheel. It is the logic evolution for us from Days Of The Mosh.” With an unrivalled live show accompanying their music – “We like to bring the party on stage, we’ll throw ourselves around for the whole set and often feel it for a few days. When you come see a show that has Dark Century on the bill, you’ll get exactly that: a show” – it’s no wonder Dark Century was one of the two finalists at the Heavy MTL Battle of the Bands, winning the chance to play Heavy MTL this summer. As Duranleau puts it, “Dark Century is bacon. It’s greasy, fat and crunchy and it is an essential element of any unbalanced diet! _Italy’s very own Tombstone Highway is the newest member of the Agonia Records roster and a fresh addition to the label’s expanding profile. The band emerges from the muddy shores of The Po River in Piacenza and draws strong inspiration from the rural and folklore parts of its homeland. Their upcoming debut album is a classic blend of feisty Stoner/Southern Rock and Doom Metal, with catchy guitar solos and old-school heavy metal parts that may remind of Lynyrd Skynyrd, Corrison Of Conformity, Pride and Glory, Down, Black Sabbath, or even ZZ Top riffage. Apart from Hard Rock instruments, the band uses also a banjo and Hammond organs.
3 songs (raw and unmastered versions) from Tombstone Highway can be heard at their Reverb Nation profile here. The release date of the debut album entitled 'Ruralizer' is scheduled for this Autumn. The band has issued the following statement with regards to the signing: " We are pleased to announce that we signed with Agonia Records for the release of our first album 'Ruralizer'. We're very proud of how the album came out and we strongly believe it's the perfect way to begin our legacy. People into heavy, ballsy southern-tinged Hard Rock should take note!" http://www.facebook.com/Tombstone.Highway _Mike plays through “Good Morning”, “A Kiss From The Sky” and “Around The Bend”. The album is due to be released in October on Earache Records.
'Tomorrow's Lost' is Cauldron's third full-length album, and was recorded in Parkdale, Toronto with producer Jameson Elliott, who also recorded the band's 2010 album, 'Burning Fortune'. View the cover artwork for the new album here. Vocalist / Bassist Jason Decay comments: "The artwork was done by Todd Kowalski, based on an idea we gave him surrounding the title, Tomorrow's Lost. The title is open to interpretation really, but I suppose it's about how the future could be written off, either for us, the world, or for someone else, depending on how they interpret it. Like how, more than likely, tomorrow has already been spoken for and is a lost cause, no matter what." Guitarist Ian Chains adds: "It's not a concept album or anything and doesn't mean any one specific thing. As an album title, it refers to varying degrees of hopelessness that we can somehow relate to. It means striving hard to achieve something that may never see the light of day, or making poor decisions that come back to ruin everything for you."
